Chapter 837: Gratitude

"I woke up earlier than you and went to wake up Ayan,” Camille

responded without hesitation.

Sienna, of course, didn't believe her. "You keep making things up. Let's

see if you can come up with something believable.”

Sienna let out a light snort and looked at Camille with an indifferent

gaze. Camille could only tell the truth in the end and shook her head. "I

didn't want you to feel guilty, but since you insisted on knowing the

truth, should you be condemning yourself now?"

Sienna cleared her throat and took the initiative to link arms with

Camille, smiling faintly. "Do we still need to discuss this? Of course, I

know it's because of me. I was just testing if you'd tell the truth or not.

Anyway, let's move on from this. Where do you want to go today?"

Sienna smoothly changed the subject, and Camille saw through her

little scheme. But she didn't expose her and simply went along with it,

responding to Sienna’s words.

The three of them had breakfast at the hotel restaurant and planned to

explore and have fun around Flento City today. It was the city where

Camille had lived for many years, and even though her grandmother

was no longer there, the memories she left behind in Flento City were

irreplaceable.

After breakfast, they set off. Camille wanted to visit her old house, the

one that the Armstrong family had planned to sell but was fortunate

enough to keep because of Ayan.

As they walked, Camille kept sharing stories and reminiscing about the

past with Ayan. The memories flooded her mind, bringing a hint of

redness to her eyes and an indescribable heaviness in her emotions.

Ayan and Sienna noticed the change in her mood. Ayan held her hand

tightly and spoke in a slightly hoarse voice, "Your grandmother must

have seen you return. If she sees you feeling sad, she'll be heartbroken

too. So, let's try to be happy, okay?"

Camille nodded and said, "I am happy. I just feel regretful towards my

grandmother because we still haven't found out who... you know..."

Mentioning this, Ayan fell silent. This matter had caused

misunderstandings between them, and despite his repeated

assurances, there was no tangible evidence to dispel Camille's doubts.

He didn't have the confidence to probe into what Camille truly thought.

His silence made the atmosphere even more somber.

Sensing the underlying tension between the two, Sienna immediately

spoke up. "Alright, the truth is never late to arrive, and there are no

secrets that can remain hidden forever. Your grandmother's spirit will

guide you, but for now, you two are in my territory, and I need to ensure

that you have a pleasant time. So, let's move on to the next

destination!"

Sienna's effort to lighten the mood gradually brought things back to

normal. They drove together to a nearby rose garden.

The rose garden featured over a hundred varieties of roses and had

become a popular spot in Flento City for taking photos and posting on

social media.

There were many people visiting, not just to see the roses but also to

enjoy various entertainment activities. The three of them tried almost

every attraction, and by the time they finished, it was already afternoon.

Both girls were exhausted and could barely walk, and even the

physically fit Ayan was a bit tired.

Since they had only grabbed a casual lunch at the garden, they

planned to have a proper dinner in the evening.

Sienna took the lead in hosting tonight's dinner. She had made a

reservation at a high-end restaurant famous for its cuisine in Flento

City.

Thanks to her connections with the King Group, she managed to

secure a private room without needing to wait in line like ordinary

people.

Upon arriving at the restaurant, the manager personally escorted them

to the private room. After the dishes were served, he reminded Sienna,

"Miss King, please enjoy your meal. Let me know if you need anything."

"Okay," Sienna nodded. After the manager left the room, Camille rested

her cheek on her hand and looked at Sienna, saying, "When did you

become so powerful? Now you have dedicated staff serving you during

a meal. Sienna, it's been a while, and I'm impressed!"

"You can praise me, but don't go overboard in front of Mr. Simpson.

Compared to him, I still have a long way to go!" Sienna immediately

shifted the attention to Ayan.

Ayan, no longer his usual indifferent self, smiled faintly, and a touch of

warmth graced his cheeks. His tone was gentle as he said, "Sienna's

status in Flento City is rising every day. We'll have to rely on Sienna to

take care of us when we visit Flento in the future!"

Camille chimed in, "Absolutely! Sienna, you must take good care of us.

Here's a toast to Sienna.”

Sienna felt extremely shy by their banter, but she still raised her glass

and clinked it with theirs.

Sienna said, "Camille, I must have misjudged you. You haven't

remarried Mr. Simpson yet, but you've been helping him all this time.

Tsk tsk, it seems like you don't care about your best friend, me. I think

you two should remarry immediately and seal the deal!"

Sienna's words left Camille speechless with embarrassment. However,

Ayan, who was sitting beside her, wore a faint smile and seemed

pleased with Sienna’'s words. He stood up from his chair, leaning

forward slightly, and held his glass in a toast gesture.

He said, "Thank you for your kind words, Sienna. If we do remarry, we'll

invite you for celebration. You'll be the matchmaker for our reunion, and

I'll express my gratitude with a generous gift!"

Sienna was rendered speechless by Ayan. She could only look stiffly at

Camille, seeking help with her eyes. However, Camille deliberately

avoided her gaze as if she hadn't noticed.

It was Ayan who seemed to enjoy the meal the most. After all, he

received the blessing he had longed for day and night.

After the meal, the three of them were in good spirits and planned to

take a stroll and chat somewhere. As they left the private room, Camille

and Sienna walked ahead, while Ayan followed a few steps behind,

maintaining a safe distance that respected the bond between the two

best friends.

Taking advantage of the moment, Sienna secretly told Camille, “I think

I'll go back to my own apartment tonight and not disturb you two. Now

that Mr. Simpson still has some gratitude towards me, I should know

when to stop. If I make him dislike me, it would be more harm than

good.”

“It's just that you don't want to stay with me and finding all these

excuses,” Camille bluntly pointed out.

Sienna hurriedly explained, “I really didn't mean it that way. I just..."

"Sienna." Before Sienna could finish her sentence, a man's voice

sounded slowly from the front. The man approached them, his steps

gradually drawing closer, and his deep gaze fixed on Sienna until he

stood by her side. Then, he looked at Camille beside her and Ayan

behind her, raised his head slightly in greeting, and with a soft smile,

asked, "Sienna, why didn't you tell me that Mr. Simpson and Camille

were coming to Flento City? I would have gladly welcomed them and

made suitable arrangements.”

The smile on Sienna'’s face froze, and she remained unresponsive for a

while. It was Camille, who was still holding her arm, that gently

murmured to remind her, and she snapped out of her daze.

She said, "They are my friends, and I can make the arrangements

myself.”

Sienna's refusal carried a sense of distance and indifference, but Mario

didn't mind at all. He simply smiled faintly, lowered his gaze, and stared

at Sienna as he asked, "You are one of the Kings, and naturally, your

friends are also friends of the King family, right?"
