Austin arrived in Hance City yesterday, but he didn't tell Preston
because he wanted to quietly investigate on his own. However, he
couldn't find anything and there was nothing to continue investigating. It
was as if Cora had never appeared in Hance City at all.
Only Ayan can do it so cleanly and neatly.
Austin placed his hope on Preston and said, "Will Mr. Walker help me?"
Preston did not immediately give an answer, but instead he had a
slightly faded expression and was lost in thought, it was unclear what
he was thinking about.
Upon seeing this, Austin also narrowed his eyes slightly and his face
flashed with a hint of stiffness. He then asked in a calm tone, "Is there
any concern, Mr. Walker?"
"None, it's just that this matter is not as simple as you thought. Mrs.
Norman has been held by Ayan for so long, and you definitely have
investigated or thought of a solution. Since there has been no result, I
don't think Camille could possibly know either. After all, Ayan is cunning
and secretive. If he doesn't want others to know something, no one
will."
"Is Mr. Walker so sure that Camille won't know? Or does he trust
Camille so much because they are friends? But Mr. Walker, you should
not forget that Camille is Ayan's wife, and they are a unit. Thus many
things are naturally understood. After all, she is Ayan's wife and would
not help others. Does Mr. Walker think this makes sense?"
Austin squinted his eyes, calculating in his mind. He wanted to make
use of Preston's help to deal with Ayan, which would cause him less
trouble. Maybe he wouldn't have to do anything and could just sit back
and reap the benefits.
So why not?
Austin's joy overflowed from within when he realized that he could find
Cora's heart without any effort from him.
But can he really use Preston?
Preston looked up at him with a faint hesitation and difficulty in his
words, âMr. Norman's words are certainly true, but I think Mr. Norman
should first understand why Ayan did this? After all, the person Ayan is
holding is not someone else, it's Mrs. Norman. But there must be some
kind of relationship between Mrs. Norman and Ayan, isn't there?"
Austin fell silent and discouraged.
Austin was stunned, but Preston didn't stop there. He continued: "Mr.
Norman, my words may be harsh, but they are true. Ayan and Mrs.
Norman were first love to each other. You and I are both men, so we
understand what first love means to a man. You should know that. Ayan
and Mrs. Norman were said to have been separated not because of
their relationship gone bad, but because of the Simpson family's
interference. Does that mean they still have feelings for each other?"
"So what? Can Ayan's grandfather and child tolerate the harm Cora has
caused?" Austin's tone was very excited, as if he was trying to refute
Preston's words.
Naturally, Preston didn't mind his questioning.
He remained calm and composed, saying: âWhether or not he can
forgive her is just a response to the public. Who knows what he really
thinks in his heart? If you really want to hold someone responsible, why
not just hand it over to the police? Besides, he could have used Mrs.
Norman to threaten Mr. Norman directly, couldn't he? But instead of
doing that, he hid Cora away. If I'm guessing correctly, probably only
Ayan himself and his secretary know where Cora is now."
Preston's blunt questions silenced Austin completely.
Every word from Preston hit him hard in his heart. These questions
were like a stick beating on his heart lightly but heavily enough that it
wouldn't let him calm down.
There was no need for them to continue eating their meal after this
conversation ended perfectly with Austin's phone ringing at that
moment. Without answering it directly, he pressed down the refusal
button and left to attend to other businesses.
Before parting though, Preston reminded him: "Mr. Norman doesn't
need to worry too much about anything. Just tell me if there is anything
you need help with. Leave some things for Sean to do instead of you
personally getting involved. Don't you think so?"
Austin nodded quietly with a serious face as an answer.
As soon as Austin left the room, Preston picked up his glass of water
and took a sip while suppressing an uncontrollable smirk on his lips. It
was a triumphant smile.
Did he not know what Austin wanted?
Austin wanted to use him against Ayan, but how could Preston agree?
All he had could only be used against Ayan and the Simpson family; no
one else deserved such effort or attention from him.
But regarding Cora's situation... he was quite curious.
A living person missing for so long without any news - this was
unexpected indeed!
Where did Ayan hide her so securely without any leaks or information
being revealed?
It also meant that Ayan had deep scheming plans which made anyone
else incapable of achieving such secrecy unless they were equally
cunning like himself.
He needed more caution than ever before, because even slight
carelessness would lead into being calculated by Ayan's numerous
schemes!
At this moment, the cunning man also learned about Preston's meeting
with Austin. Since Austin arrived in Hance City, someone had been
following him, so every move of Austin was transparent to Ayan, and
there were no secrets at all.
After Kian reported everything about Austin to Ayan, he asked a little
worriedly: "Mr. Simpson, if Preston agrees to work with Austin against
us after their meeting, our actions may be closely monitored. Do we
need to take some precautions?"
"Only those who are afraid of being exposed and have something to
hide will worry about being monitored. But do you and I have anything
to hide?"
"Of course not."
"Well then, let them monitor us if they want. Currently the most
important thing for Simpson Group is completing the project in Dane
City within this month. If they want to monitor us, that would be great.
When they get tired of it, we can make other plans.â
Ayan had no fear or worries at all; he was confident that he could
handle anything that came his way.
After ending his call with Kian, Camille came out of the bedroom.
Seeing the man sitting on the sofa, she stared at him intently and asked
lightly: "Didn't you say you had something important to tell me? What is
it exactly?"
Ayan looked up from his phone and patted the seat next to him for her
sit down.
Camille pursed her lips and gave him a deep look before walking over.
Their eyes met. He had come straight from work and told her during
dinner that there was something he needed tell her but hadn't brought it
up even though more than an hour had passed since then.
So what was going on?
Camille stared at him as she jokingly asked: "You didn't do something
that needs my forgiveness, did you?"
But she never expected Ayan would go along with it by saying: "If I did,
would you forgive me?"
