Chapter 660 Hiding from Me
Kian had just arrived at the scene of the crash, and although the traffic
police had finished with it, he still wanted to see if there was anything
left there.
Kian answered truthfully: âI'm on it, but the road where you had the
accident happens to be a blind spot, so the surveillance is almost
useless. As for the vehicles that appeared at that point there, have also
been investigated. There are nothing deliberate. I have now asked
people to investigate all the vehicles tonight.â
"Expand the time frame and start checking from this morning.â
"Okay, I understand.â
Kian nodded in response.
Ayan's face sank, and continued to ask: "By the way, you should ask
Darkmoor. Tonight Preston invited guests to dinner. Did his secretary
go with him? If not, then find out where this person went."
âYou suspect this has something to do with Preston?"
"We'll know after checking on it. If it was really him, then it'll be easy to
deal with. At least there is no one else but only him targeting us.
There's no need to reveal my accident to the public, just find an excuse
to say I went on a business trip. The person who spread the news will
be the person behind it. Then let's see who will get impatient first,
right?"
Ayan grunted coldly. The indifference under his eyes gradually
dissipated, and after he finished, he hung up the phone, and turned off
the water in the sink.
He looked up at himself in the mirror. The scars on his face were of
varying shades. The deepest was on his forehead near his head, but it
was wrapped by the gauze, so the depth could not be seen.
He slightly hooked his lips. The bottom of his eyes overflowed with
indifference. If Preston wanted to play such a big game, then he
wouldn't let him down.
âTap-tap."
"Are you done?"
Camille's voice came from outside the door.
"Okay." He responded in a low voice and pulled the door open.
Camille assisted him back to bed and sat down before he spoke again,
âIt's late, stay here with me tonight, okay?"
He spoke in a tone of voice that was different from the call.
Camille naturally stayed. After all, he was alone in the hospital. tHe
even could not walk now, so she was also worried.
But there was only a bed and a couch in the hospital, so Ayan
suggested, "You take the bed and I'll take the couch.â
The patient was to sleep on the couch, but she, who was able-bodied,
was going to sleep on the bed?
She would feel guilty.
She said, "No, I'll just sleep on the couch.â
âI'm not that weak, just do what I say, huh?"
Camille naturally wouldn't agree. She looked at him without much
emotion and said: "Then I will go back home to sleep, and come back
in the morning. Anyway, you do not need someone to take care of you
at night. And there is the nurse. So will it work?"
Ayan blinked slightly, then nodded and said, "Okay, just like you said,
you take the couch and I'll take the bed."
Camille hummed, then walked over to the couch and sat down. The
corners of her mouth also rose slightly to reveal a smile.
That night, Ayan, because of the pain of his foot injury after the
anesthetic effect, slept little. So the next morning when Camille saw
that his tired face, she was also confused.
She asked, "What's wrong with you?"
His voice was hoarse as he shook his head, "It's okay."
He lifted his hand and gently squeezed his brow. A knock came at the
door of the ward at that moment, and it was Kian who had brought over
breakfast.
Ayan didn't move. He didn't seem to have much appetite. He let
Camille eat first. He and Kian started talking about work. He said to
Kian, "Send me the documents to be processed, and you bring the
computer here this afternoon. I need to deal with some things. Have
you got the results of the things I mentioned yesterday?"
Because Camille was there, he said yesterday instead of last night.
Kian understood, nodding slightly: "Well, you are right. He did not go
there, but I haven't found out his whereabouts. I think he deliberately
avoided to leave behind any evidence in case we would check on this."
Ayan hummed in a low voice. He did not go on with the subject, but
only emotionlessly said, "Spread the news of my car accident.â
Kian was stunned and asked with some surprise, "You said..."
Ayan's deep eyes swept indifferently towards him. He stopped instantly,
but his eyes were full of curiosity. Obviously, last night he decided to
block the news. How did he decide to make it public after one night?
Ayan said, "For the villa fire incident last time, we already played the
card. If we do it again, some people would take advantage of it and
there may be a greater loss?"
Ayan finished, and the bottom of the deep eyes were flooded with
indifference. As for what was on his mind, no one could guess.
Only after Kian left did Camille put down the spoon with which she was
eating her porridge. She looked over at Ayan and asked softly, "Was
that something you and Kian were just talking about last night?"
"Why do you ask?"
Ayan didn't answer yes or no.
His answer caused Camille to pause slightly. "From your conversation
with Kian, I assume it had something to do with what happened last
night?"
Her eyes met his. She did not force, just looking at him nonchalantly, so
that Ayan could not lie to her.
He hooked his lips in a light smile, "Well, indeed."
"So have you found out who it is?" She continued to ask, and what Kian
said to him last night suddenly rang in her mind as well, and she said,
âNot just a robbery?"
"Probably!
"What do you mean by probably?"
Ayan said, "It's not clear yet, so I don't know what to tell you. I'll tell you
when I find it out, huh?"
Ayan's words were somewhat veiled. He didn't want her to know too
much. But the more he behaved like that, the more curious Camille
became.
Camille spent the morning in the hospital and the word spread about
Ayan's car accident.
After the Simpsons knew about it, Fletcher and Talia also immediately
brought Timmy over. Knowing that nothing serious, they were slightly
relieved. After Fletcher and Talia left, Rex and a few people came.
Camille took advantage of this opportunity to have some rest.
Camille left room for Rex and the others to talk to Ayan, and she came
out of the ward to sit in the cafe downstairs for a while. Then her phone
rang.
It was Preston.
On the phone, Preston asked, "Cami, was there nothing wrong last
night?"
Camille didn't really like the questioning and just replied tersely,
"Nothing."
"I saw the news about Ayan's car accident, is he all right?"
âIt's okay."
"Really?" The tentative wording of Preston wasn't really obvious.
Camille, however, heard a hint of something different and frowned
slightly, âWhy are you suddenly so concerned about him?"
Preston and Ayan didn't get along for long. At first Preston thought she
loved Ayan without getting a response, which was unworthy, so his
attitude towards Ayan was not too friendly. and Ayan also
misunderstood he was her so-called ex-boyfriend.
Gradually Camille realized that there were other things leading to their
estrangement. But she had made many assumptions without coming
up with an accurate answer.
At this moment Camille couldn't resist asking, âWhat is it that you are
hiding from me?"
"Cami, I'm not trying to hide it from you. As to whether Ayan is hiding it
from you or not, you have to ask him. I know he's more important in
your heart than me, but I don't want you to lose yourself, especially to a
unreliable man, you can't give too much of yourself."
âIf you have something to say, just be direct. I'm really tired of you
covering up like this." Camille smiled indifferently with irony.
Preston narrowed his eyes, his face was wrapped in coldness, and he
said emotionlessly: "Cami, you don't know anything, so it's too unfair to
me to directly side with Ayan like this, right? Is it true that no matter
what happens, at any time, you feel I am the one to blame, but it has
nothing to do with Ayan?"
