Chapter 658 - Something's Wrong

He said, "It's not very convenient to talk on the phone. I've asked the

driver to go over to Darkmoor to pick you up, and he should be there in

about ten minutes. We'll talk about it then, okay?"

Kian gave no definite answer and tried to hide the emotions, which

made Camille realize that things didn't seem quite right.

She narrowed her eyes slightly, her white face stiffened, and eventually

she could only whisper, "Hmm."

Camille clutched her phone as Mrs. Bell's voice rang again, "Cami,

what's wrong? Did something happen?"

Camille lightly pursed her lips and did not respond directly, because

Kian did not say clearly, then naturally he did not want to let too many

people know. So she also just mustered a smile and said: "Nothing, but

I have to leave early. It's Ayan. There's a small matter needs to be dealt

with. Sorry that I will not be able to accompany you guys for the dinner.”

Mrs. Bell did not continue to ask questions. Her understanding and

decency made her just nod along with Camille's words: "It's okay, it can

be any time to have dinner together. Go ahead and call me directly if

you need anything!"

"Okay, I got it, I'll go first then."

Camille got up and grabbed her bag.

Preston also got up. "Camille, I'll see you off."

"No, Mr. Baxter will stay with Mr. Bell and Mrs. Simpson to continue the

meal." Camille's expression was impassive as she swept past Preston.

Preston said, "I'll see you out and then get back, and Mr. and Mrs. Bell

won't mind it."

"Of course I won't mind, Cami, you'd better let Mr. Baxter do it. He's the

host tonight. He won't feel at ease if he doesn't see you out.”

Mr. Bell said so, and Camille did not refuse again, she did not want to

waste any more time on these irrelevant matters.

Camille and Preston came out of the box one after the other, and the

two passed through the long corridor. Her pace was so fast that even

Preston had to take a big step to catch up.

Preston asked softly, “Cami, what's going on, why are you leaving in

such a hurry?"

"Some personal matters."

"Do you need my help?"

"No need."

Preston added, "I'll have someone drive you there because you didn't

drive here and it's not very convenient to take a taxi.”

Camille refused: "No, I've already asked someone over to pick me up.”

Preston didn't insist any more, but just continued to walk her out of

Darkmoor until she reached the door. Camille then stopped to look at

him. "Well, you don't have to accompany me any more. Just go in and

have dinner with Mr. Bell. I can do it myself.”

Preston didn't say anything, just stared at her with a slightly stony face,

"Cami, there's really nothing I can help you with?"

"No really.” Camille met his gaze frankly, her calmness making it

impossible to see any difference at all.

Their eyes locked for a few seconds and Camille took the lead as she

turned her body to face him and looked ahead to wait for the driver to

arrive.

Preston also stayed with her in this way. Although not talking to each

other, she could clearly feel his breathing, so it was hard to ignore his

presence.

The two remained silent for a long time, until Preston took the initiative

and said, "Cami, do you trust me anymore?"

Camille didn't know why he suddenly said such a thing and simply

replied lightly, "You're overthinking it."

“I didn't think too much, I know you. This time after I came back, it's not

that I didn't feel your coldness towards me, I don't know why. But

whatever it is, I want to explain to you clearly. I will not admit what I

have not done.”

What he referred to was clear and unambiguous. Camille understood it,

but the expression on her face never changed.

Ayan's driver also arrived at the time. The car was parked in front of the

hotel. The driver immediately got out of the car and pulled the back

seat door open for her: “Mrs. Simpson!!!"

Camille nodded slightly, she looked back at Ayan and her voice was

without much emotion. "Preston, I'm not trying to blame on you, so

don't misunderstand. As for your comment about me being cold, I just

think that since you and Molly are together now, it's better for us to

keep our distance. After all, I'm a woman. I understand women's minds,

so it's better not to create unwarranted misunderstandings.”

Camille finished, and without waiting for Preston's response she had

already lifted her feet and walked down the stairs to the car.

The door closed, the driver got in, and the car slowly drove off and

disappeared in front of Preston's eyes.

His gaze remained unchanged, and his eyes had been fixed on the

direction of the car's departure, and only after a few minutes did he

gradually lower his eyes, with a very obvious smile at the corners of his

mouth.

And then, he turned around and walked inside Darkmoor. The phone in

his hand rang again. He pressed the answer and said in an extremely

light voice, "How is the situation?"

"I saw with my own eyes that they went into the hospital before they

left. The situation should not be very good, but I can't find anything from

the hospital. The news is very blocked."

"The that's great. It's what we want."

Preston could hardly conceal the joy in his words.

Sean added, "But..."

"But what?"

"But the people we arranged for didn't have time to do it before a police

car passed by, so it didn't make him worse, and all that's been caused

so far are injuries from the crash, so we can't be sure about his

condition.”

Sean replied in a whisper.

Preston did not speak, only the expression on his face stiffened slightly,

but soon he resumed his smile as he said, “It's OK. I'm sure God will

not spare him."

The bottom of his eyes flashed with a shadowy ruthlessness, like a

venomous snake.

After finishing the phone call with Sean, he went back to the dinner

room and drank with Mr. Bell as if nothing had happened, and the meal

lasted until about ten o'clock at night.

On the hospital side, Camille also arrived twenty minutes after came

out from Darkmoor.

The driver took her straight to the Resuscitation Room, where she had

been more than once.

Seeing that the only person at the door was Kian, the expression on

her face instantly stiffened. On the way here, the driver also kept his

mouth shut, because it was also true that he did not know the real

situation, so he could not give her any information.

Now after seeing Kian, she understood this instantly.

She looked at Kian with an expressionless face and asked, "What

happened?”

Kian explained with his head down: "Mr. Simpson drove back to the

Simpson's mansion and it was a car accident. We don't know whether

those people wanted to rob or for other purposes. Fortunately, the

police patrol passed by so it didn't have any more serious

consequences.”

The Simpson's mansion was located in Hance City, the highest

mountain in town. Back to Simpson's mansion, they must cross a

mountain road, but there were always police patrolled to protect the

residents living in the villa by the mountain, for people living here were

the richest in Hance City.

Accidents were rare on this stretch of road, but Ayan's driving skills

were so good that it was not normally possible for him to have an

accident, unless it was not an accident.

But at this moment Camille didn't realize it. Just looking at the

Resuscitation Room with the red light, her stomach was in knots. She

asked in a hoarse voice: "How is the situation now? What did the

doctor say?"
