Chapter 637 - Knowing Wrong
Ayan's words conveyed a lot of meaning.
Kian nodded and asked in a low voice, "So, do we need to do
anything?"
"Do what? It's us in the light now, with others in the dark, whatever we
do will be visible and seen through.â Ayan's face was expressionless as
he walked over to Camille, his gentle gaze sliding over her before lifting
his feet and stepping out of the basement first, his voice becoming
indifferent as he said, "There's no need to do anything now, hand over
the initiative.â
Since Preston appeared openly and without any scruples, it was natural
that he had some cards to play. In this case, he naturally wanted to give
this opportunity for Preston to show what he had to show, otherwise it
wouldn't have been for nothing to spend so much effort on it.
Ayan snorted and glanced back at Camille, who was following him, and
he said without much emotion, âI have a few words to ask her, so you
and Kian wait outside, hmm?"
Camille nodded, she could understand. After all, Cora would not say
anything if she was present.
Camille didn't really wait right at the door, but sat down on the couch in
the living room, across the hall from Cora's room.
After she sat down, Ayan did not immediately go to see Cora, but
followed Camille again and sat beside her naturally.
Camille looked at him in disbelief, "Aren't you going to have a word with
her?"
"Are you upset?â
"No."
Ayan wasn't convinced: "I just had a few words to ask her about
Preston and Austin, and I'll be out soon, OK?"
âI'm really not angry, so can you not misunderstand me?" Camille was
certainly not angry, and there was nothing to be angry about. If she had
to be angry at every single thing, then she would probably be pissed to
death soon, wouldn't she?
Camille pursed her lips slightly, a little helpless.
But after her words, Ayan also seemed to be half-heartedly staring at
her. He looked as if he would stay with her like this if she didn't admit
that she was angry.
Camille sighed helplessly, âIf you haven't thought about how to ask her,
then wait until you do! Or do you think it's not a good idea to ask
because I'm here?"
Ayan's eyebrows quirked and he smiled gently, "Of course not, if it was
really just inconvenient, why did I offer to tell you?"
"Since it's not, then go ahead and ask, and then go back. I want to go
back and spend time with Timmy," and she wasn't willing to waste her
free time with someone like Cora.
After being together recently, Ayan had also basically got to know
Camille's temper well.
She always shifted the focus to him easily, or in a way that he had to
follow.
At the moment, for example, he was only afraid that she would be
unhappy, so he asked more questions. The it ended up that he wanted
to ask more questions because it was inconvenient for him to bring her.
Ayan reached out and gently pinched her cheeks, and he said in a low
voice, "Wait for me!"
Camille didn't respond. He got up, left the living room and went straight
to Cora's room.
Cora had been in her room since she got here, and it was only one
meal a day, not to mention that she couldn't do anything she wanted.
She had used all the methods she needed to use, but to no avail, and
the people watching her were almost greasy.
In just one week, Cora had completely changed from her previous
image of being dignified and extremely well-mannered.
Because every day she was immersed in worry and fear, plus the three
meals a day changed to just one meal a day, she thinned a lot, her
cheekbones were very obvious, and her face was also pale and
bloodless. Dark circles under the eyes were particularly obvious.
When the bouncer opened the door, she assumed that the delivery guy
or the person who kept watch on her had come in, so she sat there
unresponsive.
Until the bouncer put a chair at the door, then someone came in without
hurry, and even the lights of the house became brighter. The bouncer
reminded, "Mr. Simpson is here."
Hearing these words, Cora then reacted. She looked up and looked
over. The person who came in was Ayan.
She was first shocked, and then immediately hung her head unwilling
to let him see her appearance at this moment. She hurriedly raised her
hand to cover her face, and her mouth followed with a low murmur,
"Ayan, you go out, why are you here at this time? You go out first, I
need to tidy up!"
She was afraid that Ayan would see her now and think she was ugly,
but what she didn't know was that Ayan didn't care at all, whether she
was ugly or pretty was the same in his eyes. There was no difference
because it didn't matter to him at all. How an insignificant person
looked was not worth mentioning.
Ayan did not move, but walked to the chair and sat down. His
handsome face wasexpressionless. He looked at her, and his voice
was also low: "I have a few questions to ask you."
Cora's hand covering her face stiffened and opened, her eyes filled
with emptiness as she stared at him, "What do you want to ask?"
She was slightly emotional and she said, "I'm already atoning for my
sins, Ayan, isn't that enough? I already know I was wrong. I repent
every day now. I apologize to your grandfather and Timmy every day. I
really know I was wrong."
"That's not what I'm asking." Ayan interrupted her coldly, his deep eyes
glowing with a faint coldness as he asked, "Do you know Benjamin and
Preston?"
Cora subconsciously shook her head with bewilderment in her eyes, âI
don't know."
Ayan did not know whether he should believe it or not. The expression
on his face revealed some coldness. Cora immediately reiterated: âI
really do not know these two people you mentioned. If they are Austin's
people, it is even more impossible for me to know. Before this project, I
had not participated in any project or work of Norman Group at all. I
joined this project also because Austin wanted me to be have an new
experience."
Austin's mind was so heavy that she couldn't even guess.
She had always known that Austin was not as kind and gentle as he
appeared to be, otherwise how could he have made up the scene and
she had to marry him?
Cora pursed her lips. With a hint of expectation floating under her eyes,
she asked in a low voice, "Ayan, are you really refusing to forgive me? I
really know I'm wrong and I'm paying for my mistakes, isn't that okay?"
Ayan did not respond to her. His face was expressionless. The bottom
of the eyes held so much coolness that people simply couldn't see
through his mind.
Seeing that he did not say anything, Cora rose uncontrollably and
wanted to approach him, but only took two or three steps before he
stopped her: "If you really know that you are wrong, you should know
that any action you take is futile, and sometimes doing something
wrong is not something that can be solved by an apology."
Cora froze there and did not dare to continue. Her face was stiff and
pale. Looking at him, she saw from the bottom of Ayan's eyes a very
obvious chill, which was a kind of look that could not be challenged.
Ayan ignored her reaction and simply asked indifferently, âYou and
Austin are participating in this project just for the sake of it?"
Cora wrinkled her brows tightly, a look of consternation surfacing her
face, "I don't understand what you mean, isn't participating in this
project all about this project?â
âThat's the question I'm asking you, you just need to tell me yes or no!"
"Of course it's... What else could it be for?" Cora felt very confused.
Could Austin have another purpose?
She pursed her lips and her whole head was a mess.
Her reaction and any subtle movement did not escape from Ayan's
eyes. He could be sure that she was not acting, but she really did not
know about Austin and Preston's affair.
He narrowed his eyes slightly, and then stood up.
