Chapter 635 Lying
Instead of saying yes, Camille simply said, "What can I do for you?"
She did not show surprise, nor did she ask where he was now, but
asked him directly if there was anything wrong.
Her response was immediately heard by the other person as well, and
his voice was low as she asked, "Cami, don't you want to see me?"
Camille did not answer. Without expression, she took a silent breath,
her tone still warm, "What do you have to say?"
She had a detached attitude.
He said, "It's nothing, I just want to meet you."
âNo, I don't think you have time to see me right now, and as for what
you said, all I want to know is the issue about Grandma, did you order
Eileen to do it?"
Camille had wanted to ask him directly as soon as he handed her the
contact information in which way.
But he didn't know how to speak. At this moment, since he had given
this opportunity, she naturally wouldn't miss it.
Her words were straightforward and honest, without any euphemism at
all.
He flinched slightly and asked in a low voice, "Cami, don't you believe
me?"
"Preston, you haven't answered that question for me! So what's your
answer? Did you do it?"
Camille smiled lightly, but the coldness of the words took over all the
tone. The only remaining trace of emotion was only sarcasm.
Her attitude was tinged with doubt and, beyond that, distrust of him.
He denied, "Of course not, how could I have the ability to order her!"
"So what happened to my grandmother had nothing to do with you
either, right?"
"Cami, how could I possibly go and hurt Grandma? I know Grandma is
the most important person to you and she is your family, how could I
possibly do such a thing?"
He was a little emotional, as if that was the only way Camille would
believe it.
Camille sank into a brief silence, and it took almost half a minute before
she opened her mouth, "I'm done asking what I need to ask, so if you
have anything to say, say it!"
"Cami, do you believe me?"
Is it really that important to explain this?
Ayan also asked her about it in the past two days.
But what Ayan had asked was completely different from what he was
asking at this moment.
She could not explain that feeling, but would subconsciously get the
answer. The answer flowing from the depths of the heart, without
hesitation.
But Preston's question at this moment made Camille silent.
She didn't really want to answer, so she just said, "I don't know, if you
don't have anything to say, I have work to do."
"Can you come down, Cami, I'm downstairs at the office, let's meet,
and if you think you don't believe me about Grandma's issue, I can
explain, okay?"
"No." Camille retorted lightly, "There is no need for us to meet now, and
now that you are not you, there is no need to meet, is there?"
"Cami!!!"
Camille didn't wait for him to say anything else and ended the call
directly.
She put down her phone, got up and walked to the floor-to-ceiling
window to look down. Because of the distance, it was not clear, but she
could still see the black car parked there, probably him.
Why did he contact her again when he clearly showed up under
another identity?
Wasn't he afraid she'd tell Ayan?
Camille's attitude towards him was ambivalent because he had helped
her a lot and had been a good friend for many years, but the suspicion
of him in her heart had not been dispelled until now, so she could not
face him with the same attitude as before, she couldn't do it.
She felt depressed, since he had already appeared with another
identity, why did he refuse to even pretend to face her? Did he really
think she could be bottomlessly tolerant, or did the matter of Grandma
really have nothing to do with him?
Camille pursed her lips, unable to find a reasonable excuse or reason
to convince herself.
Her emotions also became agitated because of her grandmother, and
her face followed with a cold expression.
The cell phone on the table suddenly rang again at that moment.
Camille then looked back. She frowned slightly, thinking it was Preston
calling again. The expression on her face was cold as ice. She went
over and picked up the phone and realized it wasn't Preston, it was
Ayan.
She froze and picked up, "Hello?"
"At the office?"
"Well, what's wrong?"
Ayan got right to the point: "Did Preston come to you?"
"What do you mean? Spying on me?"
âIt's not spying on you."
He was not at all shy about it either.
Camille reacted. He wasn't spying on her, he was just spying on
Preston.
But Camille also realized one thing, so Ayan knew everything from the
beginning?
Camille stared blankly, "You knew all that?"
Ayan chuckled as he said, "Tell me, did he come to you?"
"Don't you know all about it?"
âI want to hear it from you in person.â He said.
Camille's voice was emotionless as she sulked, "You just don't think I
can lie?"
âI didn't think of it that way."
"You didn't think so, but that's what you did didn't you?" She hummed
softly and said indifferently, "He did come to see me."
"So he and Benjamin are the same person, right?"
"Didn't you already confirm that?"
Ayan said low and heavy: "Yes, I have confirmed it. From the
beginning, I guessed that he would be the person in charge arranged
by Austin. I came to realize it during that meal. He said his name is
Benjamin. But a guess at the identity without any evidence is not
enough, and it is impossible to dispel the suspicion in my heart.
Besides, there can't be such a coincidence in this world."
Ayan knew even more than she thought she would, which made
Camille ask, "If you know everything, then why don't you just call the
police?"
"Why did you call the police? Isn't this more fun now?" Ayan smiled
lightly, his words filled with ridicule.
Camille didn't quite understand exactly what he meant by that, but her
mind was more or less guessing, and she asked lightly, âWhat are you
going to do?"
"Shut the door and beat the dog?!" Ayan's questioning tone was tinged
with a low laugh, and his voice was getting huskier: "Since he thinks he
has the ability to muddle through, how is he going to act if I don't
cooperate a little?"
"Ayan, why are you telling me so much?"
She was now in a rather contradictory position, so she didn't want to
know too much about the intentions and thoughts of Ayan and Preston.
As for herself, she just wanted to understand what happened to her
grandmother, and if this was really about Preston, she naturally
wouldn't continue to treat him as a friend, and if it had nothing to do
with him, she wouldn't interfere with his and Ayan's affairs. After all, he
did sabotage that project.
Camille's inquiry made Ayan smile gently, and he said in an extremely
soft voice: "It's not good to talk to you more about this? Do you want
me to hide everything from you?"
"You're not afraid I'll tell him?"
"You won't, just like you won't tell me what he said to you. I know how
you feel because he's your friend and has helped you a lot, so you
won't be two-faced, but you can't bear to be cruel to me either, can
you? I'm telling you just because I want you to be prepared.â
Ayan simply didn't want Camille to do things that violated her
boundaries just to be on his side. If she did, she wouldn't be Camille.
So how could Ayan be willing to make things difficult for her?
Ayan just let her know his every move, and also hoped that she would
always stay out of this matter.
Ayan added: "Well, that's it for this matter. I'll make time to deal with
Cora in the last two days. Grandpa is recovering a lot, but she should
be punished for doing something wrong and take responsibility for her
actions.â
"What are you going to do about it?"
"Will you accompany me there?" Ayan did not reply, as if he had
already made a plan and decision.
Camille also didn't go on with the question, since he had already said it,
so she would see how he would do it.
