âWell, it has been following us since we went out from the company. I
changed a route intentionally. I'll speed up probably. You need to buckle
up.â
Camille reached out and pulled out her seat belt to fasten it. âDonât
worry. It's OK if you couldn't get rid of it.â She whispered.
"OK. I get it.â
Kian glanced at Camille to make sure that she was ready and then
stepped on the gas pedal to speed up.
Camille didnât have much resistance to this. She looked back at the car
behind them, noticing that it is following them exactly just as Kian said,
as it is also speeding up while Kian is accelerating.
Where was such a coincidence under the sun?
Camille narrowed her eyes slightly. There were some inexplicable
emotions at the bottom of her heart, which made her a little
uncomfortable.
Kian turned three corners and finally managed to shake off the car
behind them.
After the speed of the car stabilized, Camille asked, âMr. Reid, did
anyone follow you when you came to my office?â
âProbably not. I'll notice it if there is. But it is not ruled out that they
didn't follow me very closely.â
âIf that car didnât follow you just now, it must be for me.â
Camille squinted, with a cold look in her eyes.
She didnât continue her analysis, staying silent, with an indescribable
feeling occurring in her heart.
So many things have been happening recently that Camille's anxiety
slowly grew deeper and deeper.
When the car stopped in front of Armstrong Corp, she didn't get off.
She thought for a long time in silence and asked Kian, âMr. Reid, who
do you think is following us?â
âMrs. Simpson, I donât know for the time being. I have to report it to Mr.
Simpson and ask him to look into it.â
âWell, that's alright. By the way, I heard from Ayan that there is still no
news about the former baby-sitter. Who is responsible for it? Why
hasn't anything come of it for so long?â
Kian panicked for a second and his eyes which are looking at Camille
dodged subconsciously.
Camille noticed the change in his facial expression and asked, âWhat's
wrong?â
âNope.â Kian lowered his eyes and did not dare to look Camille's eyes
directly. He responded lightly, âMrs. Simpson, this matter is a little tricky.
Itis a little difficult to investigate. Mr. Simpson handed it over to me to
check the other day, but there have been many things lately. I had to
delay it for the time being.â
âAlright. If there is any progress, please let me know.â
Camille didnât think much about it, but Kianâs expression and reaction
made her confused.
She didnât have time to dwell on it, though, because Grace was also
here.
They approached Armstrong Corp. Grace asked her softly, âWhy did
you come here suddenly? Is there anything wrong?â
âWhere is Elijah?â
âI've got Elijah working with those two you borrowed.â
Camille didn't say anything as they took the elevator to Brody's office.
As soon as they got out of the elevator, they heard Elijahâs dissatisfied
voice, âYou'd better make it clear that you are here just to help. I'm still
in charge of this company. What you are saying has nothing to do with
what Armstrong Corp needs.â
Camile looked at Grace faintly. Her eyes narrowed slightly with a bit of
coldness.
When they reached the office door, Kian raised his hand and knocked
on the door. âExcuse me. Mr. Armstrong is hospitalized, asking the two
legal heirs of Armstrong family to have a look.â
Elijah looked over immediately and said, âGrace, you came.â
He skipped over Camille. She was not favored in Armstrong family, so
he didn't take Camille seriously at all.
Grace called out politely, âElijah, I come over with Camille.â
Elijah then glanced at Camille who is Ayan'âs wife. Due to that, he
doesn't want to offend her or be too friendly. He kept calm and asked,
âWhy are you here at this time?"
âElijah, you've been working for Armstrong family for many years,
right?â
Camille looked at him indifferently and didnât call him Elijah as Grace
did.
Elijahâs face stiffened slightly and he was a little concerned, âYour father
and I have been partners for many years. You don't live in the
Armstrong family so maybe you donât know. Grace knows very well the
relationship between Armstrong family and meâ
âElijah, I just asked how long you've worked for Armstrong Corp. I don't
care If you have a good relationship with Armstrong family or my
father.â
Camille's coldness made Elijah unhappy instantly. Grace reached out
and tugged at her clothes subconsciously, indicating that she couldn't
talk with him like that. But a look from Camille made her stop and
freeze.
Camille simply said, âElijah, you've been working for Armstrong Corp
for many years. Is this the first ime you encountered an accident like
this due to layoffs?â
"Of course.â
âSince it is the first time, we have to take some special measures.â
Camille walked to the couch and sat down. She looked at Mario's
secretary and asked, âDo you have the files on the two employees who
jumped?â
âI have them ready for you, Miss. Camille.â
Camile took the files and glanced at them. Then she looked at Elijah.
âTheir contracts with Armstrong Corp were due to expire this month. If
we let them leave at this time, they can still get a compensation.
Therefore, it maybe a little too deliberate for them who jumped off the
building to make trouble at this time.â
âMiss. Camille, you have never worked at Armstrong Corp before, so
you don't understand the model of Armstrong Corp certainly. I think it is
understandable that the two employees chose such a way to stay in
Armstrong Corp in that they donât want to lose their jobs. Of course, top
priority should be given to our companyâs interests.â
Elijah looked unhappy, with his eyes showing he was discontent to
Camille.
Camille laughed, âYour words make me wonder if you are on the side of
Armstrong Corp or the two vexatious employees?â
âI'm on the side of Armstrong Corp certainly.â
âI even assumed that those guys who jumped off the building were with
you.â
Camille looked at Elijah straight in the eyes as she spoke.
Elijah frowned and said unhappily, âWhat do you mean? Grace, do you
listen to your sister? I've really put a lot of sweats if not efforts in
everything I do. Your father never said anything like that. How could a
junior...?"
âElijah, calm down. Camille was just too worried about the company.â
Grace felt a bit awkward. She looked at Camille and said, âCamille,
stop talking. Elijah..."
âElijah, please go the hospital and talk with those two jumpers. If they
are willing to settle privately, I can offer them a new job and pay them a
compensation. If not, we will go through the legal procedures.
Considering that they are well and their employment are about to
expire, I think that the law would give me a fair result.â
âDid you arrange for me to do these things in what capacity?â
Elijah looked at Camille with an unwilling face.
Camille didnât get angry. Instead, she smiled. âThough I didnât grow up
in Armstrong family, my surname is Jane and I am also the legal heir of
Armstrong Corp. What's wrong with my arrangements for you? If you
donât want to do, I can find someone else. After all, secretaries can be
changed.â
âYou...â Elijah was furious at Camille's words. He shouted, âLet me see
your dad. Only he is qualified to talk with me like that.â
âIn that case, please stop what you are doing for a period of time. You
must have been tired of following my father for so many years. It's time
for you to take a break. How do you think, Elijah?â
