Chapter 1321: Compassion
Sienna's back straightened immediately upon hearing Rex's voice,
startled she asked, "How come you walk silently?"
Rex replied, âIt's because you were so focused on the phone call. So,
who were you talking to?"
"Camille!" Sienna immediately put the call on speakerphone and said to
Camille, "Rex doesn't believe that I'm talking to you."
Camille also felt a bit tense, considering she had just said not to let Rex
know, and in the next moment, she was caught.
Smiling faintly, Camille said, "I'm not Camille; she's lying to you."
Although she claimed not to be Camille, Rex naturally recognized her
voice.
Quickly, Rex said, "You two carry on, I'm heading to the office. There's
an early meeting today.â
Since chatting with Camille posed no problem, and naturally he had no
reason to be dissatisfied, he promptly set off for the office.
Watching him leave, Sienna whispered to Camille, "I think he
deliberately wanted to see if I would reveal something."
"Relax, don't be too nervous. I think you're overreacting. He's not even
thinking about last night. After all, a drunk person has no memory. If
you hadn't watched the surveillance footage, he wouldn't have known.
So, don't scare yourself. If you keep being anxious, I might be
discovered immediately.â
âYou're right. I need to act as if I don't know anything. I almost slipped
up,â Sienna laughed. However, she wasn't quite clear on what Mario
had said. She could only guess from Rex's responses. Unable to
contain herself, she said to Camille, "It seems like Mario has been
keeping an eye on me. What do you think he wants to do to let me go?"
She asked helplessly because the feeling was indeed uncomfortable.
She wanted to find a solution soon. Perhaps by ensuring Mario never
contacted her again or by making him fall in love with someone else,
only then would she feel truly free.
Sienna's head was starting to hurt just thinking about it. She really
didn't know how to solve this situation.
Camille sighed silently and said, "Ignore him. Treat him as a stranger.
Only then will you stop caring about what he does. He should
understand your indifference and apathy after a while, right? Although
he's extremely stubborn, with time, he should give up, right?"
However, Sienna coldly smiled at Camille's words. Sienna said, "Cami,
what you said would be fine if it were true, but I know Mario. He's the
type that wants what he can't have. How could I not worry? Mario's
persistence goes beyond stubbornness. Once he decides on
something, hardly anyone can change his mind."
Sienna understood Mario well. Although Camille was right about his
stubbornness, his nature was more than just that.
Sienna wouldn't have worried about him otherwise. For instance, during
the phone call Rex answered, based on what they heard, a normal
person would retreat. But not Mario. He wouldn't stop; he would find a
way to express his anger.
Sienna knew what Mario was like from the day she met him. Despite
being separated by a wall, they continued talking on the phone for a
while.
Camille had to go to the office for some other work. Sienna had gone
through a lot the previous day, so Camille advised her to rest at home
today. Additionally, after drinking alcohol, although not to the point of
being drunk, it was better for Sienna to rest.
After their phone call, Camille had finished breakfast and her driver was
waiting at the door.
Once she got in the car, Camille contacted Kian. He said he had taken
Yessica to the office, so he was there if Camille needed anything.
Upon reaching the office, Camille found Kian waiting in her office.
Yessica saw Camille first and immediately took her hand, leading her to
the office. Camille whispered, "Didn't you know Kian came back?"
Shaking her head, Yessica replied, "I had no idea. It's good that I have
good morals. Otherwise, if I slip just a bit, I won't see the sun tomorrow
morning."
Camille couldn't help but smile at her response. "Are you that afraid of
Kian now?"
Yessica replied, "Oh, Cami, I'm not afraid of him. I'm just giving him
basic respect. After all, men have their pride. At home, he listens to me
because he didn't tell me he was coming back. He knocked on the door
in the middle of the night, scared me. I thought it was a burglar. I almost
called the police. To punish him, I plan to make him kneel by buying
durian when I go home tonight."
Yessica's words sounded real, but Camille knew they weren't entirely
true. After being around Ayan for so long, Kian could handle Yessica's
silly and sweet nature. Even if he was genuinely upset, he could
probably resolve it with a few words.
The reason Camille had introduced Yessica to Kian in the first place
was because she admired Kian's dignity. Having witnessed the
temptations and benefits around Ayan, a man like Kian, once devoted,
would remain committed for life. That's why Camille was willing to
introduce Yessica to him.
Yessica, like a younger sister to Camille, had shown independence
since graduating from college. Camille had a special affection and pity
for Yessica.
As they approached the office door and Yessica opened it, Camille
entered. She said, "Cami, you talk to Kian first. I'll get you both some
water."
Yessica didn't want to interrupt their conversation. Kian had come over
for something important, and Yessica, aware of the incident from last
night, had already talked briefly with Kian in the morning. His response
was, "This is Simpson Group's matter, Mr. Simpson's matter. So, I can't
say much.â
Yessica understood. If the situation were reversed and it was Camille's
issue, Yessica wouldn't dwell on it either. Ultimately, everything should
consider the party in concern.
