Chapter 1297: Relief
"Well, I didn't say anything, and actually, I was also hesitant about
whether or not to tell you? But I wanted to tell you because... I just don't
know how to express my thoughts. Anyway, I don't want to keep it from
you," Grace said.
Camille knew that Grace wasn't good with words, so her incoherent
speech made Camille smile a little.
Camille replied, "Well, I know, so you don't have to worry. I already
know about this matter. Don't fret, I'm not concerned about it. I believe
he can handle it."
They chatted a bit more about other things before ending the call.
After hanging up, Camille didn't display the same ease as Grace. Her
expression became serious, and her eyes showed growing concern
and unease.
She had heard of Mr. Tillery because of her involvement in other
industries. She was aware of his reputation and knew that his company
held significant influence. However, she also knew that he was involved
in shady dealings and would participate in anything profitable,
regardless of its legality.
Camille worried about Ayan. She feared that he might be manipulated
by Mr. Tillery. Even though she knew Ayan was intelligent and level-
headed, he was currently in a foreign country, which was Mr. Tillery's
territory. Would he be able to safely extricate himself?
Camille's concerns deepened as she had just contacted Ayan, who
mentioned having dinner with Horace at this time. She didn't want to
disturb him further by sending more messages.
Camille was also preparing to finish work. The design competition was
about to begin, and although Camille wasn't directly involved, she felt
anxious and nervous.
On the way home, she drove with Sienna.
She asked Sienna, "Are you nervous?"
Shaking her head, Sienna replied, "Not really. I only get a little nervous
when I'm at the venue on the day.â
Camille looked at Sienna's pursed lips and snorted, "If you're not
nervous, then why do you look like that? If you were even a little
composed right now, I might believe you. But the way you're speaking
doesn't convince anyone!"
Camille smiled faintly, and Sienna stuck out her tongue before saying,
"Don't ask me. Seriously, if you ask me now, I wouldn't even know how
to drive the car. Why can't they just finish these competitions in one go?
Wouldn't it be better to prepare everything at once instead of waiting for
a month? We don't even know the results, and then we're left to do as
we please!"
Sienna was genuinely nervous, tremendously so. To ease her tension,
she planned to stay at Camille's place tonight. Since Ayan wasn't there,
she could do whatever she wanted at Camille's house. As for Rex, well,
let him stay alone. He couldn't be of much help anyway. Seeing
Sienna's unease, he would probably suggest using money to buy the
victory outright and let her sit on the champion's throne.
Although Sienna knew he was joking, she genuinely worried that he
would feel sorry for her choice. She didn't want any victories that came
with strings attached. She wanted to achieve everything she desired
through her own abilities.
Sienna didn't tell Camille about her plan to stay at her place. Instead,
she drove directly into Camille's garage, got out of the car, and said, "I
want to stay here tonight. I don't feel like going back. Let's have a
barbecue and enjoy a drink together, how about that?"
With that, she walked into the house without looking back, holding the
car keys. Camille was genuinely shocked by her actions. Could it be
that this person considered Camille's house as her own?
Although Camille appeared slightly disgusted on the surface, it was
only superficial. In reality, she was very happy because having
someone accompany her was much better than being alone at home,
which would be incredibly boring.
Camille entered the house with Sienna. Sienna was already lounging
on the couch, ordering takeout. Ayan wasn't home, so she was quite
relaxed, kicking off her slippers and sitting cross-legged on the couch
without a care in the world.
Before Camille could even approach, Sienna asked, "Should we get
crayfish or scallops?"
Camille looked at her, not really having an appetite due to her
preoccupied mind. She hesitated for a moment, unsure how to answer.
But Sienna didn't give her much time to think. She immediately made
the decision for her and said, "Never mind, let's get both. After all, big
sis is treating us, and I've got money. Rex transferred some to me, so
eat as much as you want. I can afford it."
As Sienna placed the order, she also added some bubble tea. As for
alcohol, they had some at home, so there was no need to buy more.
After placing the order, Sienna finally looked up and saw Camille
standing not far away. Camille was also staring at her, and their gazes
met. Sienna asked, "Why are you looking at me like that? Come sit, is
my dominant aura making you feel pressured? If that's the case, I can
tone it down a bit. After all, this is your home, and if I make you
uncomfortable here, I would feel guilty. I'm really worried that Mr.
Simpson might retaliate.â
Sienna's words sounded pleasant, but she had no intention of changing
anything. Her eyes blinked at Camille, and she chuckled, saying, "Why
aren't you saying anything?"
Camille sighed silently and spoke softly, âI'm wondering why you're
acting so differently today. Do you really want to eat and sleep at my
place, or do you want to accompany me because you think I can't
handle the stress of what happened today?"
âYou're overthinking it, I don't think like that."
"But the way you expressed yourself makes it seem that way, so it's
really hard for me not to think too much about it!"
Sienna stood up, pulled Camille over, and made her sit down. Then she
tilted her head and leaned directly against Camille, saying, "Cami, don't
feel any pressure. I do want to be with you, to prevent you from
overthinking things alone. I also want to give you advice when Preston
contacts you. Don't worry, Rex and I have already discussed it, and he
fully supports me."
Camille didn't respond verbally but accepted her proposal by remaining
silent.
Camille pursed her lips slightly, her expression somewhat subdued.
The two of them sat in silence for a long time until the delivery person
called.
Sienna went with Nanny to pick up the food. She had ordered a lot and
prepared a portion for Nanny and the other people in the house. Nanny
and the chef would usually stay there, but they didn't usually eat
together with Camille and Ayan. However, when Ayan wasn't home,
Camille found it boring to eat alone and preferred to have everyone eat
together. It was more convenient and lively that way.
Since Nanny knew Camille wanted to talk to Sienna, she took some
food to the dining room and left the two of them to sit on the living room
carpet, cross-legged.
Sienna put the bubble tea aside and said, "Let's drink alcohol first, and
we'll have the bubble tea later to sober up."
Then they began to drink, one glass after another. Actually, they only
took a sip, as most of their attention was on eating crayfish. It was a
delightful feast.
It had been a very long time since they had been so carefree,
disregarding their appearance and any discomfort that might come from
indulging in a hearty meal.
To commemorate the occasion, Sienna took a picture and posted it as
a social media update.
