Chapter 1286: Excitement

Not long after this meal, Ayan had sent a message to Horace before he

arrived, so when the conversation reached a deadlock, Horace

received a call from Ayan.

Horace was involved in financial investments, and he had many friends

and acquaintances in this area. This could be considered Horace's turf,

where his family and friends were located.

His name, Mr. Tillery, was also known. They had worked together

before, but they were not close friends.

Learning that Horace was calling to discuss matters, Mr. Tillery didn't

try to persuade Ayan further. He simply said, "I hope you will consider

what we just discussed. Sometimes, letting go and making a different

choice can bring about change that leads to greater benefits and

advantages.”

Of course, Ayan would not agree, but he didn't refuse outright either.

His intention was not to offend Mr. Tillery. After all, their cooperation

had just ended, and the project had gained momentum with the

reputation of the Tillery Group. The Simpson Group was also gradually

entering this market, and there would likely be future collaborations.

Opening the foreign market was an important step for the Simpson

Group. Ayan wouldn't completely cut off ties with Mr. Tillery. Instead, he

would assign professionals to handle future collaborations in this area,

minimizing his own contact with Mr. Tillery.

Leaving the restaurant, they once again took Mr. Tillery's secretary's

car back to the hotel.

During the journey, Ayan remained silent, burying all his emotions

inside. However, his face was gloomy, and his deep black eyes

appeared particularly dim.

Upon arriving at the hotel, Ayan didn't wait for Mr. Tillery's secretary or

Kian to open the door for him. He opened the back door of the car and

got out on his own.

He strode towards the hotel entrance, while Kian raised his head

slightly to bid farewell to Mr. Tillery's secretary before quickly catching

up with Ayan.

Kian had to almost jog to catch up with Ayan, and then the two of them

entered the elevator together.

Kian caught a glimpse of Ayan's frosty expression and took several

seconds to compose himself before speaking softly, "Mr. Simpson, what

Mr. Tillery did was quite difficult. He knows you are already married, yet

he insisted on forcefully pushing his daughter towards you. Does he

intend to use this approach to win you over, or does he have some

other plan?”

Kian had clearly heard every word of their earlier conversation, but he

didn't understand Mr. Tillery's true intentions.

It wasn't suitable for them to discuss this matter earlier, especially with

the driver present. Even though they were speaking Mandarin, they had

to be cautious about eavesdroppers.

Ayan narrowed his eyes, and his deep gaze was filled with coldness.

He replied indifferently, "He wants to tempt me with the opportunity to

date his daughter through the Tillery Group. For many people, such an

opportunity is rare and hard to come by. After all, becoming a son-in-

law of the Tillery Group is a tremendous honor, something that may

never happen in a lifetime. He believes that with this method, I will

waver and accept his conditions. Then, in the future, the Tillery Group

can expand into the domestic market, seize a share of Hance City, or

even cover the entire country.”

"So, Mr. Tillery is not doing this because he genuinely likes you and

wants you to be with his daughter?" Kian asked.

"He explicitly stated that business takes precedence, and everything is

for the company's interests. Personal feelings are irrelevant. That's Mr.

Tillery's mindset. Otherwise, how could he have achieved such success

here?" Ayan responded.

"But Mr. Tillery already has more than enough wealth, and he only has

one daughter. He's at an age where he can enjoy the benefits and

privileges for how much longer?” Kian was puzzled. After all, Mr. Tillery

wasn't young anymore, and accumulating so much wealth with no way

to take it with him raised the question of why he continued to pursue so

much.

Ayan spoke lightly, saying, "Do you think Mr. Tillery really only has this

one daughter?"

Mr. Tillery, of course, had a marriage relationship with his wife, but her

family has been declining in recent years. As Tillery Group grew more

and more successful, especially after going public and becoming a

leading company, Mr. Tillery became bolder. He had many illegitimate

children outside, who were an open secret.

Unlike in the country, where such matters are not as tolerated, in

foreign countries, they are more accepting of illegitimate children. Once

Mr. Tillery faces any situation, those illegitimate children will do

everything in their power to deal with Mr. Tillery's wife and daughter.

Only then can they secure a larger inheritance.

Ayan's words made Kian pause for a moment. He hadn't thought about

it, but after Ayan mentioned it, he didn't think it was unlikely. After all, a

man like Mr. Tillery couldn't possibly be that devoted.

Kian said, "So, besides expanding the domestic market, is Mr. Tillery

also trying to consolidate his daughter's position?"

Ayan replied indifferently, "He probably hopes that Tillery Group can be

legitimate. Even if he has to give a substantial amount of wealth to his

illegitimate children, he still wants Tillery Group to stand strong. Only

then can his name, Mr. Tillery, be passed down!"

Ayan's guess was close to the mark, capturing most of Mr. Tillery's

thoughts.

However, if Mr. Tillery wanted to use him, he had to see if he was

worthy of cooperation.

Back in the hotel room, Horace had already arrived, and Kian

immediately notified Horace and Grace to come upstairs.

After the meeting, Horace casually asked, "You seem busy. Haven't you

finished dealing with the project yet?"

Ayan raised an eyebrow and replied lightly, "Almost done." He glanced

at Grace and said, "Cami asked me to say hello to you on her behalf."

Grace nodded slightly and said, "I'm fine. Tell her not to worry about

me."

Ayan nodded lightly, then began talking to Horace.

He asked Horace, "How much do you know about Mr. Tillery?"

Horace frowned, his voice becoming more serious. He said, “I know

him to some extent, but I have friends who know him even better.

They've known him for years and have collaborated with Tillery Group

multiple times."

“Then, help me get in touch. I want to have a thorough understanding

of Mr. Tillery, especially the people around him. How many illegitimate

children does he have? What are their relationships like, and so on.”

Ayan was straightforward with Horace and didn't think about hiding

anything from him.

He also told Horace about the content of their lunch today. Before

Horace could speak, Grace was the first to speak up. Grace asked,

"Doesn't she know that you're already married?"

"Cami and I are currently in a state of divorce. Thanks to Preston's

actions, everyone now knows that we are divorced.”

"But this is your personal matter. Cami is still good to you. It's just a

piece of paper, it's not important at all, right? Besides, you have a good

relationship and even have a child together. What does she mean by

doing this? Does she deliberately want to be involved, knowing that you

have someone you love and a child?" Grace's emotions were

somewhat excited, her eyes fixed on Ayan, as if telling him that he

better answer well, otherwise, even if he was Ayan, she would tell

Camille.

The intense emotions from Grace surprised both Horace and Ayan.

They hadn't expected her to become so worked up, as she was usually

gentle and calm.

After realizing that her emotions were getting out of control, Grace sat

down on the sofa and said in a hoarse voice, “I'm sorry, I'm just too

worried.”

Horace chuckled softly, reached out and gently held her hand, and

whispered, "It's okay, Mr. Simpson won't mind, right? Mr. Simpson?"
