Chapter 1232: Ridiculous

Page listened, somewhat confused about what exactly was being said.

Brody briefly explained the situation and repeated his earlier words,

"Go find Camille now. She should already be at the office at this hour.

Don't call her, go directly to her. It's easier to talk when there are more

people around in the office, and she won't be able to refuse. You need

to make her call Alicia and reconcile while you're present.”

Page snorted coldly, "Now you realize my usefulness? Fine, I'll go find

Camille, but I want an additional 10% of Armstrong Corp's shares."

“It's not the time to negotiate conditions now. Let me tell you, if you go

too late, forget about the shares, there won't even be an Armstrong

Corp left.”

Page fell silent at that because Brody didn't seem to be joking. This

matter seemed to be indeed very serious.

Page quickly tidied herself up and drove directly to Camille's company.

She had been there several times before, and each time she had a

purpose in mind.

Otherwise, she wouldn't have come.

Upon arriving at Camille's company, Yessica was the first to notice

Page. She immediately had someone intercept Page, saying they were

busy and buying time, then she hurriedly went to Camille's office.

Seeing Yessica's panicked state, Camille was also shocked and asked,

"What happened?"

Yessica walked quickly to Camille's side, panting as she spoke, "Your

mother is here."

Camille was slightly taken aback, of course she didn't think Yessica

was swearing at someone, but she was a bit slow to react because the

office door was open, allowing some noise from outside to be heard.

She faintly recognized the voice of a familiar woman, and who else

could it be but her mother?

Camille instinctively furrowed her brows, her expression turning

somewhat indifferent as she asked, "What is she here for?"

“I don't know. I had someone intercept her, saying you were busy, and

then I hurriedly came to tell you."

"Alright, no problem. Go and ask her to come in!" Camille said calmly,

also turning on the recording function on her phone. Of course, she

would record her conversation with Page. Perhaps she had been

deceived too many times, so she had absolutely no sense of security.

Page immediately arrived at the office and saw Camille sitting behind

the desk, her expression not looking too pleasant.

She said, "Camille, you're becoming more and more unreasonable. It's

been such a long time, and you've never taken the initiative to call

home. Are we not supposed to count on you until we're old? Don't think

that you can do whatever you want just because you're with Ayan now.

If something happens to you, you still have to rely on our Armstrong

family. You..."

"So, you came all this way just to lecture me?" Camille interrupted

Page's words calmly, her eyes looking at Page with extreme coldness.

Page still had her mouth open, her face stiff and visibly displeased, but

she hadn't forgotten the purpose of her visit today. The last time she

came, she had a very unpleasant argument with Camille over Grace's

matter, but she had completely put it behind her.

Page walked over to sit in front of Camille without being invited, looking

at her indifferently. Because Camille's previous words had upset her,

she said, "Seems like your little company is doing well, huh? Your sister

isn't at home lately, and you rarely come home either, but it's your

responsibility, and you should fulfill it, right?"

Camille couldn't help but find it a bit amusing and asked, "What do you

want me to do?"

“You haven't bought me a gift for a long time. It's almost my birthday, so

why don't you give me something in advance!" Page directly made her

request.

Camille put down the pen in her hand and leaned back on the leather

sofa behind her. She looked at Page with a cold gaze and asked,

"What do you want?"

Page, seeing Camille being so cooperative, didn't hold back either. She

said, "I don't really want anything specific recently. How about this?

Just give me 200, 000, and when I find something I like, I'll buy it

myself."

Page spoke without blushing or feeling guilty. After all, she thought that

with Camille following Ayan, they must be very wealthy. As long as

Camille whispered in Ayan's ear, wouldn't he immediately give her the

money? So, 200, 000 was nothing to Camille, at most the price of a

piece of clothing or a handbag.

Page certainly knew that the main purpose of her visit was not to ask

for gifts, but she didn't want to miss this opportunity. After all, if she

could take advantage once, she would. She didn't feel any sympathy

for Camille either.

She felt completely justified.

She had already started thinking about what gifts she could buy with

the 200, 000. But Camille remained silent the whole time, until Page

asked, "Why are you not saying anything?"

Camille smiled faintly and said, "What do you want me to say? Haven't

you finished speaking?"

"Camille, what's with your attitude? I'm your mother, what's wrong with

asking you for some money? Don't forget who brought you into this

world and raised you. Now that you have the ability and capability, you

can just ignore me, right?"

Page was truly angry, incredibly angry. Every word she spoke carried

her dissatisfaction and accusations towards Camille. But Camille didn't

feel any emotions at all. Her eyes still looked indifferent. After a while,

Camille finally spoke calmly, "If you want a gift, just tell me directly, and

I'll buy it for you. As for money, I don't have that much, so I can't give it

to you."

Camille's words instantly angered Page, and she slammed the table

heavily. Yessica, who had been waiting outside, rushed to the door the

next second, staring inside with a cautious and guarded expression.

She asked, "Cami, are you okay?"

Camille felt touched by Yessica's concern. Comparing friends to her

own mother sitting in front of her, the former seemed much better.

Camille waved her hand and said, "I'm fine, go back to what you were

doing!"

Page was displeased and said, "So now you're going to contradict

everything I say? Camille, is this how a daughter should behave?"

"What about you? The Armstrong family? Are there any parents or

family members like you?" Camille interrupted calmly.

"You..."

Camille interrupted indifferently, "Do you have something important to

discuss? If you're only here to ask for a gift, then I agree, but I have

work to do, so I won't accompany you."

"Do you even know what you're saying?"

"Of course, I do.”

Camille looked at Page with indifference, showing no intention of

compromising or backing down. Camille's attitude made Page's face

turn cold, and her expression showed deep dissatisfaction. She said

indifferently, "Camille, isn't it normal for a daughter to buy her mother a

gift? Besides, I haven't been constantly asking you for things, have 1?"

"It's fine to ask for a gift, but isn't the value of a gift supposed to be

more about the thought than the price? Besides, you asked for 200,

000 right off the bat. I'm not a bank. Where do you expect me to

suddenly come up with 200, 000? Yes, I have a small company, but as

you can see, it's just a studio at best, with quite a few employees. So, I

don't really earn that much."

Camille patiently explained. She knew Page's temperament very well

and knew that Page wouldn't truly consider her words. She had long

experienced Page's disregard. It didn't matter how well she was doing;

what mattered was that she had to fulfill any request from the

Armstrong family. She had no right to refuse, and even a slight

hesitation would be criticized as being unfilial.

After years of interaction, Camille had gained a thorough understanding

of the Armstrong family. She pursed her lips, and as she spoke, the

smile on her face became more apparent, but her eyes held no trace of

amusement, only indifference.

The facts proved Camille's speculation to be correct because Page was

incapable of and would never think from Camille's perspective. Page

simply said casually, "Okay, okay. If you really don't want to buy it, just

say so. There's no need for these excuses. As for my birthday, if you

don't want to buy me anything, then don't. I don't really expect anything

from you anyway. Are you still blaming me for sending you to Flento

City back then? But who was it for? Wasn't it for your own good?"

Page remained stubborn, maintaining an air of righteousness that

seemed somewhat laughable.
