Chapter 1226: Movement and Stillness
Ayan's expression became somewhat gloomy, and he said indifferently,
"They can meet, but you have to inform him in advance that after the
meeting, Sean can only stay with him temporarily. If news of his release
spreads, he will immediately be sent back to prison, and I won't
intervene anymore."
Kian replied, "I understand. I will communicate with him in advance. But
I can't help but wonder, at this point, are Elijah and Sean really helping
Preston?"
"Can you be sure?" Ayan said apathetically, "Don't forget, the
Armstrong family hasn't held Elijah accountable until now. If they had
initially directed all their focus on Elijah, he wouldn't have been able to
come out. He committed economic crimes, and Armstrong Corp almost
disappeared because of him. The Armstrong family cares deeply about
Armstrong Corp. Even with such a big incident, they haven't taken any
action against Elijah. I can't help but suspect that the Armstrong family
may have some leverage or some form of cooperation with Elijah.â
This question still had no movement or response, and the Armstrong
family naturally remained silent on the matter.
As for Elijah, Ayan hadn't asked him either. Currently, Brody couldn't stir
up any storms, and Ayan didn't want to show too much curiosity
towards Elijah, lest he become too proud and forget himself.
Ayan's words naturally didn't hide anything from Camille. He said them
directly in front of her without holding back.
On the other end of the phone, Kian paused briefly, then responded,
"Mr. Simpson, is there a possibility that the matter between the
Armstrong family and Elijah is actually related to Preston?"
âIt's not impossible, but even if it's possible, we don't have any
evidence.â
âI'm worried that if it is indeed related to Preston, then what we're doing
now is just continuously strengthening Armstrong Corp. This could
easily lead to nurturing a future problem!"
Ayan, who always considered all aspects of the situation, naturally
understood Kian's concerns.
The seriousness on his face became more evident, and his eyes
became dark. After a brief silence of a few seconds, he said calmly,
âThat's a matter for the future. Whether the tiger can be raised or not is
still unknown, and besides, we're on the same side as the keeper,
Horace. Even if the tiger becomes a problem, the keeper will solve it for
us."
The topic between Ayan and Kian became overly heavy. The issue of
Preston had been troubling Ayan for a long time, and there was very
little information that could be found about this person who seemed to
have appeared out of thin air.
He didn't know if this matter would be a prolonged battle.
If it was, how long would it last?
If it wasn't, what would be the solution?
Camille also sensed Ayan's emotions. She gently held his hand and
asked in a soft voice, "Is there anything I can do?"
Ayan placed his phone aside and gently placed his hand on the back of
Camille's hand, holding it. He said, "Just stay happily by my side."
Camille nodded lightly and said, "No matter when, no matter what
happens, I hope you won't hide anything from me. As you said, we are
one, and we need to face everything together with honesty."
"Of course!â
The two smiled at each other and continued walking forward on the
road.
The phone call didn't bother Ayan for too long. As for Elijah, Kian
informed him the next day at the company. Elijah agreed and could
temporarily stay with Sean. He was eager to see his son.
Kian said that when Elijah saw his son, he was overwhelmed with
heavy emotions. Sean appeared completely desolate, with no light in
his eyes, which naturally broke Elijah's heart as a father.
Elijah asked Sean what had happened, but Sean couldn't say a word
and just shook his head.
Elijah had no choice but to turn to Kian and ask, "Kian, what
happened? Why has my son become like this?"
Kian had certainly investigated the matter, so he naturally knew what
had happened to Sean. However, he wouldn't speak up proactively, as
all proactive actions were considered worthless, especially when
dealing with people who didn't appreciate it in the first place.
When all of Elijah's expectations were placed on Kian, he finally spoke
in a low voice, "Mr. Clarke, your son indeed got into some trouble, but
there's a mastermind behind all of this. I believe you have some
guesses about the person's name. As for what you want to do, Mr.
Simpson's suggestion is that we don't get involved or offer any
opinions. Everything should be based on your decision.â
Although Kian didn't directly tell Ayan that Preston was behind
everything, Elijahâs heart was already aware of it, just as Kian had said.
He had anticipated this, but he didn't dare to face and admit it.
Kian's words completely silenced Elijah, and his face became as
gloomy as if it could drip water.
Seeing him like this, Kian calmly reminded him, "Mr. Clarke, both you
and your son are in a dangerous situation right now. It would be best
not to take any further actions at this time. The most important thing
now is to escape this ordeal!â
Kian informed Elijah that Ayan had arranged a doctor for Sean. This
series of actions naturally stirred something within Elijahâs heart.
However, it wasn't enough to completely provoke his decision, but Kian
noticed his reaction. Kian truthfully told Ayan about Elijahâs situation,
and Ayan didn't have much of a reaction, just a faint smile.
Kian couldn't understand Ayan's thoughts, so he asked, "Mr. Simpson,
do you intend to make Elijah stand against Preston?"
"Don't you think this is the only way to make Preston panic? After all,
Elijah knows Preston well and they are relatives. Perhaps Elijah knows
Preston's true intentions?"
"Well, that's a good plan, but I'm worried that Elijah is too cunning. I'm
afraid he might put on a facade for us."
"That's his business. Even if he puts on a facade, it doesn't matter to
us. As long as he is not being used by Preston, it's enough.â
Ayan's eyes held a faint smile. He didn't place any hope in people who
weren't trustworthy, so he didn't care about their reactions at all.
As for everything he was doing now, it was just to make things difficult
for Preston, to provoke him, and to see what Preston could actually do.
Preston's own situation was precarious now. This should be the lowest
point, right?
If Preston still hadn't made any moves at this point, Ayan found it hard
not to suspect that he didn't have any trump cards at all. Perhaps
Preston's supposed intention of coming after Ayan was just empty talk?
Because Preston wasn't someone who kept a low profile. If he had any
way out to break the current deadlock, he definitely wouldn't be so quiet
without any actions.
Ayan was somewhat skeptical and asked, "What about Preston? Still
no movement?"
"Well, not for the time being. He has been staying inside and hasn't
come out.â
"How are you sure he hasn't come out? Can't he take someone else's
car?"
"No, because the orphanage has been quiet these past few days.
Besides the small truck for procurement, no other vehicles have
entered or exited. After all, the orphanage wouldn't have luxury cars
coming and going, and there wouldn't be lost or abandoned children
every day. And no one goes up there every day to pick up children, so
we have records of people entering and exiting."
Kian explained his arrangements in detail. He was also worried that
Preston might find another way, so he had rehearsed various scenarios
in his mind many times before coming up with the current arrangement.
