Chapter 1217: A Fluttering Heart
Otherwise, if Ayan takes action, not only will this project be lost, but
Nores Group will also suffer significant damage in the future.
Mr. Nores told Alicia, âIf you want to enjoy all the benefits provided by
the Nores family, you must contribute to and make sacrifices for the
Nores family. I'll give you a day to think about whether you want to
apologize to Camille."
Naturally, Alicia refused, but Mr. Nores wasn't indulging her either.
At that moment, the secretary's phone rang, and although it was
unclear what the other person said, Mr. Nores's expression immediately
turned sour.
He clutched his chest, his eyes glazed over, and he remained in a daze
for a long time, unable to regain his composure.
Mrs. Nores was alarmed by this sight and asked, "What's wrong? What
happened?â
Mr. Nores was in a terrible mood. Mrs. Nores helped him to the sofa,
where he sat for quite a while. Alicia became concerned witnessing this
scene.
Alicia looked at Mr. Nores and tentatively asked, âWhat happened?â
Alicia's inquiry received no response from Mr. Nores. He had a stern
expression, tightly gripping his phone, and his facial expression grew
even darker.
Mrs. Nores was extremely worried seeing her husband in such a state.
She said, "What happened? Can you please say something? Don't
scare me!"
With a stern face and narrowed eyes, Mr. Nores coldly looked at Alicia
and indifferently said, "Do you even realize the extent of the damage
your behavior caused to Nores Group tonight? Just because of an
unattainable man, you've done something so foolish. Do you
understand the consequences of your actions?"
Alicia didn't understand what he meant and asked, "Dad, what are you
talking about?"
"Don't call me Dad.â Mr. Nores, filled with anger like never before, said,
âLet me tell you, Alicia, from now on, the Nores family will welcome you
back only when you apologize. You can choose when to do it."
After Mr. Nores finished speaking, he immediately called the household
staff to have Alicia escorted out.
The staff, of course, hesitated, but they had no choice but to follow Mr.
Nores's orders, causing them great difficulty.
Alicia was left feeling bewildered by Mr. Nores's series of actions.
However, Mr. Nores showed no intention of backing down, even when
Mrs. Nores tried to reason with him.
In the end, the staff didn't escort Alicia out. She left on her own
because Mr. Nores's attitude made her angry. He had never treated her
like this before, and she felt a great sense of dissatisfaction.
After leaving the Nores family, Alicia received a call from her assistant
and finally learned why Mr. Nores had been so angry just now.
In just over an hour, Nores Group had lost several crucial partnerships,
the most important ones at present. They were vital to Nores Group's
future development prospects, and losing them meant a major crisis for
the company.
Alicia didn't know how to describe her current state of mind. She stood
there for a long time without making a sound.
She clenched her fists tightly, her face stiff, and said word by word,
"Camille, do you think you can defeat me like this?"
Alicia took a deep breath, and her expression grew even darker. But
what should she do now? What can she do? These questions occupied
her mind entirely. Upon reflection, she realized that everything
stemmed from Ayan, and it was up to him to resolve it. As long as Ayan
opened his mouth, all misunderstandings would be cleared up.
The next morning, Alicia went to Simpson Group. However, she
couldn't see Ayan without an appointment, so she had to make one
first. Meanwhile, she proactively contacted Kian. Whether it was the
former or the latter, Ayan was aware of it.
Alicia contacted Kian and asked him in a low voice, "I want to meet Mr.
Simpson. Can you arrange it for me, Kian?"
Kian replied indifferently, "Miss Nores, I'm sorry, but Mr. Simpson
doesn't have time to see you right now. Please choose another time."
"Kian, it's urgent, and you know that I know Mr. Simpson. Moreover, we
are currently working together on the project. As partners, it's not
excessive for me to meet Mr. Simpson, right?"
âIt's indeed not excessive, but Miss Nores, you should understand that
Mr. Simpson has agreed to continue with this project. So, Miss Nores,
please don't make it difficult for me, okay?" Kian mercilessly pierced
through the events of last night, as he could tell that Alicia was trying to
deceive him, thinking he was unaware of what had happened since he
wasn't present at the dinner. After all, how would a busy CEO like Ayan
have time to chat with his secretary about such things?
However, Kian was a clever person. Being by Ayan's side for so long,
he could understand what Ayan wanted with just a glance. He could
also guess a few things about last night's incident.
The only person who could make Ayan angry was Alicia. So why did
Alicia make Ayan angry? The answer was clear-Camille.
Alicia fell silent because Kian knew everything, making it difficult for her
to continue. After a dozen seconds, Alicia finally spoke in a low voice, âI
didn't mean anything else. I want to apologize to Mr. Simpson. Can't
Kian give me this opportunity?â
Since it was about an apology, Mr. Simpson shouldn't refuse to see her.
However, Kian didn't directly agree but instead sent a message to
inquire with Ayan.
Upon learning that Alicia had arrived, Ayan's reaction was cold, but
since she came to apologize, he wanted to see how she would do it.
However, Ayan didn't directly respond. Instead, he said to Kian, "No
need to reply. Since she actually came to Simpson Group, it's unlikely
for her to leave without seeing me. Even if she leaves, she'll come
back. Let her wait!"
Kian nodded and said, "Understood, Mr. Simpson."
Therefore, Kian didn't respond to Alicia and let her wait at Simpson
Group, not knowing how long she had been waiting. Anyway, it was
already noon, and Ayan wasn't having lunch at the company. He was
going out to find Rex because Rex had terminated a cooperation with
the Nores family last night. This meal could be seen as a compensation
for Rex.
If Rex knew that his cooperation was only worth a meal, he would
probably wake up angrily if he were sleeping. If Rex knew that this meal
was deliberately given as an opportunity for Alicia to see him, he would
be infuriated.
Ayan walked out of the elevator, and Alicia, who had been waiting in the
lobby for hours, instantly noticed him. She had been waiting for several
hours, and now that she saw Ayan, she didn't want to miss this
opportunity.
Today, she wasn't as flamboyant as yesterday. She wore flat shoes,
pants, a T-shirt, and her long hair was let loose. Her makeup was also
quite messy.
Perhaps it was because she hadn't slept well the whole night, her
overall state wasn't very good.
She walked briskly towards Ayan and said, "Mr. Simpson, excuse me, I
have something to say to you."
She looked at Ayan, and even though yesterday's incident had
occurred, her heart still fluttered.
She gazed at Ayan, secretly hoping that he would show a hint of
softness.
Ayan glanced at her indifferently, his eyes devoid of any ripples or
emotions, and asked coldly, "What do you want to say?"
Alicia pursed her lips slightly. She was actually quite nervous, but since
she had finally seen Ayan, she didn't want to miss this opportunity.
She looked at Ayan and said in a low voice, "Mr. Simpson, I'm very
sorry about what happened last night. I hope you can give me a chance
to make it up to you. How about this, Mr. Simpson? Let me treat you to
a meal? Let's not hold grudges against each other, okay?"
Alicia smiled and looked at Ayan, her face filled with anticipation,
waiting for his response.
