Chapter 1203: Not Right
Ayan held his phone to his ear, his eyes filled with cold indifference. His
deep gaze looked out the window, lost in thought. After a moment, he
said calmly, "Sharing the information with the police would only lead to
him being taken in for questioning. Although all the evidence points to
him, and we are certain that he is responsible, the police don't have
any concrete evidence to prove it was him. No one witnessed him
committing the acts firsthand, so it's impossible to bring him to justice.
Even if he does end up in prison, how long do you think it will last?
Once he's out, he'll continue what he started, just like now. In that case,
I'd rather keep him out there."
By leaving Preston outside, Ayan could manipulate his fear of being
caught by the police, creating public opinion. The more attention he
garnered, the more Preston would have to hide and avoid showing his
face. How could Preston accomplish anything under such
circumstances?
With these thoughts in mind, a faint smile appeared on Ayan's lips.
Preston was unaware that Ayan's people had been keeping a close eye
on him. He felt safe staying at the orphanage. Naturally, he let his
guard down.
However, he blamed everything that had happened today on Ayan.
Moreover, Eileen had the audacity to claim in front of the police and the
media that Ayan was behind it all. Compared to Eileen, who was either
threatened or bribed by Ayan, Preston felt increasingly agitated. He
cursed angrily, "Bitch! There will come a day when you regret this!"
After Preston arrived, he went straight to the orphanage director's
office. He had dinner, freshened up a bit, and then the director arrived.
The director had also seen the online news and asked with concern,
"How did this happen? How did Ranran get caught?"
"Don't worry about her. I'll be temporarily staying here with you. As for
Eileen, you don't need to concern yourself either. She has completely
betrayed me. From now on, I will handle everything on my own. I won't
rely on her anymore, and whatever happens to her afterward has
nothing to do with me. I've said it before, she's unreliable. She's just a
love-struck fool who still believes Ayan has feelings for her and that she
can rely on him. In reality, she's just being used.â
Preston grew angrier the more he spoke. His face was filled with fury,
and his eyes showed his unhidden anger and hatred. The director
wanted to console him, but before he could say anything, he was
immediately rejected.
Preston said he wanted to rest and asked the director to leave. He was
left alone in the office, but before the director left, he made sure to
leave his phone behind. Preston couldn't use his own phone now, but
he needed to make a call, so he had to borrow the director's.
After the director left, Preston picked up the phone and walked to the
window. He glanced around, everything seemed normal, and a
confident expression appeared on his face.
He dialed a number using the director's phone.
At the same time, in the Franklin Bay villa.
Ayan hadn't returned yet. Camille was feeling bored, so she followed
the housekeeper to the kitchen. She personally made a fruit tea. The
fruits had a great flavor recently, but she rarely ate them. She didn't
want them to go bad in the refrigerator and go to waste, so she decided
to make a fruit tea and send some to Sienna later.
Camille prepared all the fruits and divided them into several containers.
She used 7-Up, jasmine tea, and coconut milk as the base to make
three flavors of fruit tea. Camille rarely did this, but she learned from
the internet. Nowadays, with the advanced internet, you can find
anything online, and with just a simple search, you can find clear
instructions for any recipe.
Camille was afraid of making mistakes, so she decided to taste a cup of
each fruit tea flavor with the housekeeper. The housekeeper gave her a
thumbs up and said, "The taste is really good, even better than what
you can buy outside." Camille was pleased with the feedback and said,
"Should I open a shop then?" The housekeeper agreed, saying that she
would help manage the shop in the future.
With the housekeeper's approval, Camille felt more confident and
continued making the fruit teas. It was actually quite simple-just mix
various fruits with different beverages to create a delicious fruit tea.
Since Ayan hadn't returned yet, Camille planned to bring some to
Sienna. But just as she was about to leave with the fruit tea, her phone
suddenly rang. She thought it might be Ayan, wondering if he wasn't
planning to come back for dinner at this hour or if something else had
come up. Since she had been following the events in the afternoon
closely, she was certain it was Ayan calling.
However, when she picked up the phone, she realized it was an
unfamiliar number she had never seen before. Camille furrowed her
brows slightly, assuming it was a random call or some sort of
advertisement. She rarely received such calls on her phone, so after
hesitating for a couple of seconds, she decided to answer.
She brought the phone to her ear, placing the fruit tea she was holding
on the side, and spoke in a low and indifferent tone, "Hello? Who's
this?"
After Camille finished speaking, there was a long silence on the other
end. She was briefly taken aback by the lack of response, feeling quite
puzzled. In a somewhat exasperated tone, she said, "If you don't say
anything, I'll hang up.â
She asked tentatively.
The person on the other end seemed to be contemplating something,
but it wasn't until Camille's patience was nearly exhausted and she was
about to hang up that the phone's receiver finally produced a voice.
"It's me, Cami."
Preston's voice sounded slowly.
Camille narrowed her eyes slightly, a hint of coldness flashing through
her gaze, as she asked, "What's the matter?"
Her tone was icy.
After everything that had happened, if she appeared too friendly, it
would seem off. Camille had carefully considered her words before
asking.
Preston asked in a low voice, "Cami, about the things online..."
âI've seen them all,â Camille replied indifferently. "Are those things true?
Did you arrange for Eileen to get close to Ayan? Why didn't you tell me
the truth earlier when you knew everything? Preston, what were you
thinking? What were your intentions?"
Camille walked over to the sofa and sat down, leaning against it. Her
whole demeanor exuded a cold indifference, as she calmly questioned
him word by word.
Faced with her questioning, Preston remained composed and
explained, "Cami, I didn't intentionally hide it from you. It was because
Eileen disguised herself so well. You know her, she has been by Ayan's
side for so many years. Do you really think she's that simple?"
