Chapter 1186: Injury
Eileen observed the changes in Ayan's expression, and every word she
spoke was cautious. She looked at Ayan and said, "Preston told me
that he and Camille have made an agreement. When the time comes,
he will take Camille and leave Hance City."
As Eileen spoke, Ayan's face became even more unpleasant.
The two of them locked eyes in a distant and indifferent gaze. The
man's eyes were filled with a chilly coldness, but he didn't immediately
explode.
Eileen noticed this and continued, "Although I have a partnership with
Preston, I still lean towards your side, Ayan. I know you trust Camille
and believe she would never betray you. But sometimes, it's better to
be a little cautious than to realize the truth after being deceived, right?"
Eileen finished speaking, but her gaze remained fixed on Ayan, her
eyes showing a hint of uneasiness.
Ayan remained silent for a long time, during which Eileen's expression
became increasingly unpleasant. She felt lost, tightly pursing her lips,
constantly speculating about what Ayan might be thinking.
After a while, Ayan finally spoke indifferently, saying, âSo, the reason
you came all the way here to tell me is to make me be cautious of
Camille and not let her deceive me?"
âI didn't mean that. I'm just worried that Preston might deceive Camille,
and in the end, Camille will fall for it.â
"Is that so?"
"Of course, Ayan, I have no reason to deceive you. The only reason I
wanted to talk to you face-to-face is that I didn't want anyone else
besides you to know. Preston is feeling a bit desperate now, and I'm
worried he might harm me. So, I have to look out for myself. Ayan,
everything I've said is true. Can you trust me?"
Eileen's tone was sincere, almost as if she was about to raise her hand
and swear in front of Ayan.
However, her eyes constantly revealed a hint of probing, making people
feel a bit strange and uncomfortable.
Ayan didn't delve into whether her words were true or false. He simply
said indifferently, âI've remembered what you said. Is there anything
else?"
Eileen shook her head, indicating that there was nothing else to say.
He said, "Since there's nothing else, I'll have Kian arrange a car to take
you back to the set.â
After Ayan finished speaking, he prepared to leave.
Eileen immediately stopped him, saying, "Ayan, it's been a long time
since we've seen each other. I came all the way here today. Can you
treat me to a meal?â
She cautiously probed, her eyes showing a hint of uneasiness, as if she
wanted to hide something.
Ayan naturally noticed this and his expression turned less pleasant. He
asked indifferently, âYou want me to treat you to a meal?"
Eileen nodded in agreement, and Ayan smiled. "Are you in such dire
need of this meal right now?"
Eileen's face stiffened slightly, feeling a bit unsure of how to respond to
Ayan's words.
But just as she was unsure of how to answer, Ayan suddenly said, "It's
still early now. Stay here for a while. I'll have Kian make arrangements
and send you back to the set after dinner."
With Ayan's words, Eileen immediately nodded, wearing a smile on her
face. "Alright, you go ahead and take care of things. I'll wait for you
here."
She was very happy, her face filled with a smile and a sense of relief.
What was the source of this relief?
Ayan, on the other hand, sensed that she seemed very worried about
his refusal. It was just a meal, why did she care so much?
A question lingered in his mind. When he returned to his office, he
calmly said to Kian, "Keep an eye on her and see what she's up to.
Also, reserve a table for me at Darkmoor. She wants to have a meal
before leaving.â
Kian nodded lightly. "Yes, Mr. Simpson. I'll make the arrangements."
Ayan remained silent, but his expression seemed even more grave.
As Kian was about to leave the office, Ayan's voice sounded again,
asking, "What was her purpose in coming all the way here? Was it to
badmouth Camille to me or to have me treat her to a meal?"
If it was only the former, it seemed to have no effect, right?
After all, she knew very well about Camille's place in his heart, so no
matter what she said to sow discord, it wouldn't achieve much or truly
drive a wedge between them. So, what was the point?
And if it was the latter, was it just about having a meal?
Kian was also taken aback by Ayan's question, turning to look at him
with surprise. "Mr. Simpson, what are you suspecting?"
"Keep a close eye on Eileen during dinner tonight. No matter what
happens, you must stay in the restaurant and be vigilant."
Ayan's face was very serious. In reality, he was just speculating in his
mind, but the truth could only be verified in the evening.
Afterward, Ayan didn't reveal any hint of abnormality. He continued
working, while Eileen was naturally being watched by his assistant.
So, Eileen spent the whole afternoon in the meeting room. She didn't
find it boring and spent the afternoon playing with her phone alone.
At the same time in the afternoon, Camille received a phone call from
Preston.
Preston's calls have been quite frequent these past few days. They just
spoke a couple of days ago, and now he's calling again.
Camille instinctively hung up, but Sienna snatched the phone from her
hand and smiled faintly, saying, "This person is really boring, contacting
you every other day. It seems like he has nothing better to do. Well, I
have some free time too, so why not chat with him!"
After saying that, Sienna pressed the answer button.
She didn't rush to speak and gestured for me to be quiet. Then she
waited for Preston's voice to come through. He asked, "Cami, do you
have time? Let's have dinner together tonight."
Sienna raised an eyebrow, then casually said, "Sorry, I'm not Cami.
Cami is busy right now."
Preston, of course, recognized Sienna's voice. He didn't show the usual
indifference he had towards Sienna and instead spoke warmly, "Oh, it's
Sienna. Long time no see.â
Sienna made a disdainful expression, her expression not looking too
good, and her tone was extremely cold, "Are you looking for Cami?
Cami is busy right now. Maybe you should call her later.â
Preston wasn't in a hurry and simply said, "Cami asked me to take care
of something for her. I've almost finished, so I wanted to have dinner
with her and discuss the results.â
Sienna glanced at Camille instinctively and saw Camille's brows slightly
furrowed. Sienna responded with indifference, "Oh, but can't you
discuss it over the phone? How about you call her later?"
"No need. Just tell her for me. Let Cami know that I've made a
reservation at a restaurant, and we'll have dinner together tonight.â
Then Preston mentioned the location of the restaurant, a popular one
near Camille's company.
Sienna felt that Preston was the type of person who never asked if
others were willing and just made decisions directly. This made her feel
uncomfortable.
Her tone became even colder as she said, "Mr. Walker, in my opinion,
you should ask Cami if she's willing first. After all, the company has
been busy these days. Besides, she might already have plans. She's a
married woman now, unlike Mr. Walker, who can eat his fill without the
family being hungry!"
Sienna had never shown any mercy towards Preston.
Her words were directly aimed at his heart.
But at this moment, Preston didnât mind at all and instead smiled lightly,
saying, "Sienna, even though you're married now, as far as I know,
Mario is also in Hance City, right? His feelings for you are no secret. Do
you really want people to spread this non-secret around? I don't think
the Ward family would appreciate it, would they?"
