Chapter 1179: Stuck

"Mhmm, you're right,” Ayan nodded in agreement.

Their gazes locked onto each other, and in that moment, there was only

each other in their eyes, no one else.

Suddenly, a proud woman's voice came from a few meters away, "Mr.

Simpson, what a coincidence! I didn't expect to have such a fate with

Mr. Simpson. Our Nores Group just collaborated with Mr. Simpson, and

now we meet here!"

Alicia wore a red V-neck dress that accentuated her sensual figure. She

was well-suited for bold makeup, and her fiery red lips made her

incredibly enticing.

She had a great body and was dressed quite daringly, but in front of the

composed Camille, she seemed a bit overly flamboyant.

Camille had a simple and natural daily makeup, with light-colored

lipstick. However, her well-defined and beautiful features were enough

to outshine many others even without any makeup.

Alicia had seen her photos a long time ago and thought she was pretty.

Later, she encountered Camille once in Ayan's office at Simpson

Group, and on that occasion, she found Camille even more beautiful

than in the photos. That's why she dressed up specifically today, aiming

to outshine Camille.

But at this moment, Camille sat there without any intention to compete.

Instead, she just raised her gaze and gave Alicia a cold, indifferent

look, as if she were looking at someone completely unimportant.

This made Alicia feel like she had thrown a heavy punch at a soft

cushion, receiving no response. She felt extremely displeased.

She pursed her lips and shifted her gaze back to Ayan. He didn't

respond to her words, and naturally, Camille wouldn't speak either,

resulting in a very cold and silent atmosphere.

Alicia also realized Ayan's indifference and coldness towards her. Her

expression showed a hint of dissatisfaction, but she quickly returned to

her usual demeanor and flashed a faint indifferent smile. She said, "Mr.

Simpson, my father entrusted this project to me, so I will be working

with Simpson Group from now on. I am very familiar with all the issues

regarding this piece of land."

Camille still displayed no additional expression changes and continued

eating her food without uttering a word.

Ayan, on the other hand, showed a hint of displeasure. He glanced

indifferently at Alicia and coldly said, "Miss Nores, even if Simpson

Group is collaborating with Nores Group on a project, this is my private

time, and I don't want to discuss any work-related matters. Can't you

see that my Mrs. Simpson and I are having a meal?"

Ayan's words were very direct, offering Alicia absolutely no face or

respect.

Such directness instantly stiffened Alicia's face. She stood there

blankly, and her eyes immediately welled up with a reddish hue. She

tightly pursed her lips and spoke in a low, hoarse voice, "Mr. Simpson, I

didn't mean anything by it. It was just a coincidence, so I came over to

say hello. I didn't intend to disturb you and your Mrs. Simpson's meal. If

it has caused you any trouble, then I apologize!"

After Alicia finished speaking, she looked at Ayan once again, but he

didn't react at all. He clearly ignored her words.

Alicia couldn't stand it anymore, so she quickly bid farewell and turned

to leave.

Alicia was somewhat displeased, especially with Camille's lack of

response. It made her feel defeated.

She had always been a very proud person, and no one had ever

treated her with such indifference.

She became more and more interested in Camille and wondered what

kind of thing could provoke Camille's emotions. After Alicia left, Camille

still showed no attitude, and Ayan's gaze remained fixed on her as if he

could see through her.

After finishing half a bowl of rice, Camille leisurely raised her head to

meet Ayan's gaze. She calmly asked, "Why are you staring at me? The

food is getting cold. Aren't you going to eat?"

"I was just enjoying watching you eat."

“The food tastes good, and it's a dish I like, so it's delicious!"

"So, you weren't affected at all?" His question sounded somewhat

amusing, as if he felt a bit wronged.

Camille was also taken aback, then smiled and said, “What are you

talking about?"

"Don't you have anything to say about what just happened?"

"No." Camille shook her head. "It has nothing to do with me, so I don't

know what to say. Besides, weren't you talking about work? What else

can I say?"

"So, you don't feel the slightest unhappiness about this person's

appearance?"

“It's not a big deal. I don't want to feel unhappy because of someone

who doesn't matter.” Camille was truly indifferent now, with hardly any

emotions. However, seeing Ayan's expression, it seemed like he was a

bit unhappy. Camille smiled and asked, "What's wrong? Are you

disappointed with my lack of reaction? Ayan, do you want me to be

jealous?"

Camille's lips curved into a faint smile, and her eyes, which seemed to

speak, stared at him without blinking.

He snorted lightly, his face full of displeasure. "But you're not angry, are

you?"

"She's not an important person, so I don't think there's any need to be

angry."

"What makes someone important?”

"At least, it should be like how you treated Eileen before, right?"

Camille blurted out Eileen's name, and Ayan's expression instantly

froze. He had already explained this matter before, and coupled with

what Eileen had done, it was somewhat embarrassing for him. After all,

he had intended to use Eileen but didn't gain much practical benefit

from it. So Ayan didn't want to mention that person.

As Camille observed the changes in Ayan's facial expression, she

subconsciously pressed her lips together. After taking a silent breath,

she put on a serious expression, glared at Ayan, and pointed her finger

at him, saying, "Ayan, let me tell you, you better stay away from all

other women. Otherwise, I won't let you off easily. Find some time to

attend a men's ethics class and learn your lesson. If you dare to do

anything, I won't spare you. I'll make Grandpa give you a good

beating!!"

Camille's sudden change also caught Ayan off guard, and he seemed

surprised by Camille's unexpected transformation. His face was filled

with astonishment.

They locked eyes for a moment, and when Camille saw no response

from him, she called out his name, "Ayan, why aren't you saying

anything? Can't you do it? I knew you..."

"Alright, I can do it. I promise you," Ayan wore a satisfied smile on his

face, filled with joy. He seemed pleased with Camille's behavior,

perhaps because it made him feel that Camille cared about him.

He probably couldn't even imagine how different he appeared now

compared to before. No one would associate the past him with the

current him, right?

Alicia's presence brought Camille and Ayan closer, deepening their

emotional connection and interaction. After dinner, they held hands and

left Darkmoor together.

They returned home in a good mood.

Ayan had some work to attend to, so after coming home, he went

straight to his study without even changing his clothes.

Camille, on the other hand, went to take a shower, changed into

comfortable home clothes, and then lay on the soft leather sofa in the

bedroom, looking at her phone.

It was at this moment that Preston's call came in.

Camille was engrossed in her phone, so she noticed Preston's

incoming call display immediately. She instinctively frowned, and her

fingertips, which had been tapping the phone screen, froze.

She squinted her eyes subconsciously, gazing at the numbers

displayed on her phone screen.

She remained silent for a few seconds, then sat up from the sofa and

walked to the balcony. She gently closed the balcony door and pressed

the answer button.

She didn't speak first, and Preston's voice came through, "Cami, it's

me."

Camille responded with a faint "Hmm," indicating that she understood.

Preston didn't probe into Camille's thoughts at the moment, but went

straight to the point, asking, “Cami, do you know about Ayan's

collaboration with Horace?"
