Chapter 1165: Amusing
He could only nod slightly and say, "Okay."
Camille also nodded and then stood up. "Well then, goodbye. We can
plan to meet another time."
Preston agreed, then watched as Camille left the coffee shop.
He was well aware that Camille's arrangement with Sienna was just a
pretense. Had she and Sienna prearranged the meeting time?
With a serious expression, he seemed particularly displeased. His
mood was low, and his emotions between his brows were notably
unpleasant.
His dissatisfaction stemmed from the fact that Camille didn't respond
positively to his suggestions earlier. He had been explicit, so why didn't
Camille understand?
Was she intentionally pretending not to understand?
A series of questions lingered in Preston's mind, making him
increasingly agitated and angry.
What infuriated him even more was that Camille had become so
assertive, suspecting him of orchestrating the online incident and
pressuring him to investigate it.
Such actions were entirely unlike Camille's usual behavior. Was there
someone guiding her in the background?
Sitting in silence for a long time, Preston's face turned cold. Clenching
his fists tightly, he muttered, "Ayan, this is all your idea, right? You use
a woman to deal with me. You're truly cunning!"
He completely believed that Ayan was behind this, guiding Camille to
act this way and say these things to him.
Camille, oblivious to Preston's suspicions, swiftly left the coffee shop
and got into Sienna's car. Sienna had carefully planned their
appearance, parking by the roadside near the entrance to avoid
suspicion.
After Camille got into the car, Sienna, holding the steering wheel with
one hand, gave Camille a thumbs-up. She said, âI could imagine the
scene just now even through the phone. It was awesome. You're my
goddess!"
Camille sighed heavily and replied, "I'm really helpless.â
Sienna asked, "Helpless about what?"
âThe things I said were impromptu. Maybe I shouldn't have said them at
all?" After all, she forced Preston too hard. If she pushed him too far,
what if he acted recklessly? Camille hadn't thought of this at the time
but only realized it belatedly.
However, Sienna disagreed. She said softly, "Of course not. Why
shouldn't you? On the contrary, I think you should have said those
things a long time ago. Think about it-Preston has been like this
repeatedly. Honestly, even I would wonder if there's something wrong
with this person. But you've been considerate due to years of
friendship. How did he interpret this consideration? As a license for
unrestrained recklessness! So what you're doing now is just giving him
a tiny bit of education, that's all!"
âReally? Are you sure you're not saying this because you're my friend?"
"Of course not. I've always been fair."
"Thank you for your honesty. I feel relieved hearing you say that.â
"So, you must not have any thoughts, because everything you do is
right, it's all correct. But Preston, I didn't expect him to shamelessly ask
for shares. Isn't it laughable? How audacious can he be to covet your
shares? Does he think you're as naive as Chu Qiao?"
Sienna spoke with extra anger and disdain when mentioning Preston.
Her eyes were full of contempt and anger. If she weren't driving at the
moment, she might have found something to vent her frustration with a
hearty punch.
Watching Sienna's anger, Camille, though there was a faint smile on
her lips, had a meaningful look in her eyes.
In fact, she hadn't anticipated that Preston would bring up the matter of
shares. When she heard it, she was utterly bewildered.
Was he truly at a dead end?
Why would he think of her shares?
Even though those shares didn't have much impact, it was impossible
to say they had no effect at all. Could Preston really see value in that
tiny amount?
Was it genuinely so tough for her at Armstrong Corp?
Many questions overflowed in Camille's mind, and she needed to clarify
them as soon as possible.
Camille spoke to Sienna, "I think Preston is probably angry about what
I said today. But I'm curious about what he'll do. How will he prove to
me that he's not involved in this matter?"
"So, in your eyes, he's already convicted?"
"Not convicted." Camille looked at Sienna with a serious expression,
saying each word clearly, "It's a fact."
Sienna nodded. She said, "You one hundred percent trust Ayan."
"Of course, I believe him."
"Well, trust is essential between spouses." Sienna treated Rex the
same way because mutual trust was crucial for a married couple.
As it was already late, they didn't return to the company but went
straight to Franklin Bay.
Sienna mentioned that she had recently learned to cook a new dish
with the help of her family's housekeeper. She wanted to cook it for
Camille.
Initially, Camille declined, saying, "Why not cook it for Rex first? I think
he might want to eat it more, huh?"
Sienna was not happy with Camille's response. Her displeasure was
genuine. She said, "Why don't you want to eat? Do you not love me
anymore? Camille, you're hurting my feelings. Do you know that your
actions are deliberately ruining my good mood? I finally made up my
mind to cook, but you say you don't want to eat. From now on, I might
not have the mood to cook anymore. So, figure it out yourself!"
Sienna sighed with a sentence and an expression that seemed
genuinely heartbroken. How could Camille refuse after seeing her like
this?
Camille rubbed her forehead, looking helpless as she said, "So, you
want me to be your guinea pig, right? Okay, I can't say anything more.
If you want to kill me with your cooking, go ahead.â
Sienna was satisfied with this response, and she immediately took
Camille to her and Rex's residence.
Then Sienna began to showcase her culinary skills. She wore a
custom-made cute apron, clearly well-prepared, leaving no room for
refusal.
Sienna said to Camille, "Just wait a moment. Get ready to be
impressed by my cooking skills.â
Camille looked at her with a sense of resignation, not knowing what to
say. After Sienna went to the kitchen, Camille asked the housekeeper
in a low voice, "Can she really cook?"
The housekeeper smiled and nodded, saying, "Yes, she should be able
to. She has pestered the master to taste it several times. If he can't
finish it, she won't even let him put down his chopsticks!"
Camille paused, a smile unconsciously appearing at the corner of her
mouth. It seemed Sienna had already tested her cooking skills on Rex.
The more Camille thought about it, the more amusing it became. She
returned to the living room and sat down, waiting for Sienna to bring the
food.
As time ticked away, Sienna spent nearly an hour on the dish. Finally,
she came out holding a plate of spicy and sour lotus root slices with
stir-fried beef.
Even from a distance, Camille could smell the fragrance of the dish and
the spicy and sour taste of the lotus root. It was quite enticing.
Sienna, with a smile on her face, was quite satisfied with her culinary
creation.
Approaching Camille, she placed the dish on the coffee table and
handed a pair of chopsticks to Camille, saying, "Hurry, taste it. The
flavor is quite impressive.â
"Have you tried it?" Camille asked, her face filled with anticipation. She
couldn't let Camille take the first bite; that risk seemed a bit too
significant, right?
