Chapter 1158: Report
Mrs. King's words left Sienna momentarily stunned, and her heart felt
uncertain about what to say. She could only purse her lips and look at
Mrs. King, who noticed the dilemma in Sienna'âs eyes.
Mrs. King asked, "Sienna, what's wrong? Don't you want to?"
Sienna shook her head and said, "Mom, I don't mean that. It's just that
I've already made plans to go back to the old mansion with Rex and
inform the Ward family about your visit to Hance City. Now that I'm
married to Rex, the Ward family will naturally value the King family. So,
I need to go back and inform them in advance.â
Sienna knew that if she used a trivial excuse, it wouldn't pass. For the
time being, she couldn't think of any other reasons, so she had to use
this excuse to refuse Mrs. King.
After hearing this, Mrs. King didn't know what to say for a moment. She
instinctively looked at Mario, and Sienna caught that glance.
Mario remained composed, showing no excessive change in
expression. He calmly said, "Mom, since Sienna has made
arrangements, let's do it next time. You just arrived in Hance City, and
you should rest early tonight. If Sienna were to accompany you to the
hotel, you might end up chatting with her until midnight. Both of you
would have dark circles the next day.â
Mario's words carried a faint playful tone, lightening the atmosphere
and making it relaxed and pleasant.
Mrs. King quickly agreed, "Yes, your brother is right. Next time it is. I'm
going to stay in Hance City for a while anyway!"
The two shared a glance, revealing a light smile in their eyes.
After the meal, it was already past nine.
Exiting the restaurant, Mario took the initiative, "Shall I accompany you
back with Mom?"
Sienna said, "No need. You'd better take Mom back to the hotel quickly
for some rest. Rex is waiting for me."
She pointed in the direction where Rex was, and the next moment, the
person inside the car pushed the door open and came out. Rex arrived
half an hour early, personally driving to pick her up. Tonight, he had
dinner with Ayan and Camille but refrained from drinking just to drive
and pick her up.
He walked toward the three, finally stopping next to Sienna. He looked
at Mrs. King, greeted her with a polite smile, "Hello, Auntie. I'm Rex,
Sienna's husband. I apologize for this sudden meeting.â
Although they were married, the formalities were still pending, so he
couldn't directly address her as "Mom."
Mrs. King saw Rex in this manner, and her gaze assessed him without
any overt expression. Even standing in front of Mario, Rex showed no
signs of unease and didn't give Mario any unnecessary glances.
Mrs. King's emotions were complex, but she quickly smiled and nodded
at Rex, "Hello. I'm Siennaâs mom. I'm genuinely happy to see her find
such an outstanding husband."
"Thank you for your compliment, Auntie. Rest assured, I will take good
care of Sienna and ensure she doesn't suffer any grievances or harm,â
Rex assured in a low voice. Mrs. King nodded, seemingly satisfied with
Rex's words.
After exchanging greetings with Mrs. King, Rex's gaze instinctively
shifted towards Mario. Holding Siennaâs hand, he looked at Mario with
a warm, calm expression. His eyes held no ripples or emotions, just a
gentle gaze. His lips curved slightly, revealing a faint smile as he spoke
in a low, mellow tone, "Good evening, Miss King. Tonight, I entrust you
to take good care of Auntie. Sienna and I will accompany Auntie for a
stroll in Hance City tomorrow."
After Rex finished speaking, Mario remained silent for a long time. His
face showed no excess expression or change, just a calm look directed
at one spot.
Mrs. King finally spoke up, "Alright, you and Sienna can go back. We'll
head to the hotel."
"Sure, Auntie, take care. See you tomorrow,â Rex said, gently
reminding Sienna, "Say goodbye to Auntie.â
Sienna obediently followed the instruction and watched as Mario and
Mrs. King got into the car and left before she and Rex returned to their
own car.
Once inside the car, Rex's immediate reaction was to ask Sienna, "How
was my performance just now? Did I do okay? Did I make you lose
points?"
He seemed quite nervous and concerned.
Sienna found it amusing but also felt a bit sorry for Rex. After all, why
should he try to please others? She pursed her lips, and her face
showed a mix of amusement and tenderness as she said, "Rex, don't
be nervous. It's okay. There's no need to feel any pressure. Just as
long as I'm satisfied, that's all that matters, alright?"
Rex was slightly surprised. Initially, he thought Sienna would be very
concerned about Mrs. King's opinion and feelings, especially
considering Mrs. King had raised her. He knew that Mrs. King had high
expectations of Sienna during her time in the King family, and Sienna
always presented herself as obedient and well-behaved in front of Mrs.
King.
In reality, Sienna wasn't always like that. She only showed her formal
side in front of him and Camille.
Taking the initiative to hold her hand, Rex spoke with a gentle tone,
"Alright, I won't care about others, just you. How about you? Are you
satisfied with my performance tonight?"
She smiled, "Very satisfied.â
âThat's good," Rex said, tightening his grip on her hand.
The two drove back towards Franklin Bay, and Rex began complaining
to Sienna about the dinner with Ayan and Camille. His face displayed a
pitiful and complaining expression, saying, "Because you weren't there,
they ganged up on me. I swear, I had to grit my teeth and endure it. It
was so uncomfortable.â
Sienna laughed, "I don't believe Cami would bully you. It must have
been Ayan, right?"
"Do you believe Camille would do that?"
"Of course, she and I are inseparable.â Sienna's statement was
undeniable.
Throughout the journey, the atmosphere between the two was light-
hearted and cheerful.
In contrast, the situation in Mario and Mrs. King's car was quite
different.
Mrs. King and Mario sat in the back seat without saying a word. There
was no interaction between them throughout the entire trip.
Mrs. King glanced at Mario multiple times, observing his composed
face that displayed no emotions or expressions. His deep gaze
remained fixed on the window, and he showed no intention of speaking.
Understanding her son well, Mrs. King knew that this was how Mario
behaved when he was in a bad mood. As for why he was upset, Mrs.
King was well aware.
Maintaining silence for a while, she couldn't help but speak up, "Mario,
what exactly are you thinking? Everyone is doing well now. Do you
really have to disrupt the current situation?"
