Chapter 1151: Guilt

Kian responded in a hushed tone, "It's not anything substantial. I found

out that the gossip reporter left his apartment the day Mrs. Simpson

responded and hasn't returned since. As for the online commenters

who received replies, I checked their IP addresses, but the information

has been deleted, as if these people never existed."

Kian's voice carried a touch of concern. He continued, "Mr. Simpson, I

suspect this matter might not be that simple. I also privately asked

Logan, and the police haven't made much progress in investigating the

person who made the phone call accusing you. I think it's because

there's no information. Otherwise, why hasn't the police contacted you

yet?"

Ayan remained silent, his face as cold as ice, and his eyes revealed a

profound sense of indifference. After a long while, he spoke in a

subdued tone, “I know someone. Go check on his recent situation.”

Kian asked in a low voice, "Who do you mean?"

Ayan stated a name indifferently, and Kian promptly responded,

"Alright, Mr. Simpson, I'll check right away."

After ending the call, Ayan didn't rush upstairs. Instead, he sat on the

couch, gazing expressionlessly out the window. The sky had already

darkened, and many unanswered questions had persisted for a long

time, yet there were still no clues. Had the other party hidden too well,

or had he overlooked something?

Ayan took a silent deep breath. His face became even colder and more

composed. He sat like this for quite some time before finally getting up

and heading upstairs.

Camille had finished her shower and, upon seeing him enter,

intentionally avoided his gaze, her eyes practically saying, “I'm not

guilty; there's no hidden agenda here."

Ayan, finding her reaction somewhat amusing, initially had no particular

thoughts or intentions. However, observing her demeanor, he couldn't

resist teasing her a bit.

Approaching Camille, his gaze unwavering, Ayan's voice dropped to a

husky tone, “Cami, the way you're acting gives me the feeling you're

hinting at something. Am I right?"

Camille was taken aback, her gaze instinctively meeting Ayan's. She

immediately denied, "I'm not! I really am not. Please don't talk

nonsense. I'm just reminding you to rest after your shower. It's late, and

you have to get up early tomorrow, right? Don't misunderstand me, Mr.

Simpson. Even though you have the Simpson Group's professional

legal team, I'm no pushover. If you continue with these baseless

remarks, I can sue you for defamation.”

Having said her piece, Camille promptly stood up from the vanity she

was sitting at. However, before she could take a step, Ayan had already

seized her.

Ayan didn't actually do anything to her; he simply held her gently,

resting his chin on her shoulder. Initially resistant, Camille gradually

sensed that he might genuinely just want to embrace her.

Camille was momentarily surprised, then she lifted her hands to

encircle the man's waist. She softly inquired, "What's wrong? Are you

feeling down?"

Speaking in hushed tones, Camille's expression was filled with

concern.

Ayan remained silent, continuing to hold her without letting go, and the

two of them stood there, embracing each other in complete silence.

Ayan has always been very powerful, giving off a sense that he is

invincible, both in his inner self and outward appearance.

This strong and capable man, however, occasionally reveals his

vulnerability in front of Camille. This scene is only visible to Camille,

proving her significance and importance in Ayan's heart.

After a long while, Camille softly spoke, "Ayan, is something bothering

you? Is it work-related stress? If work is exhausting you, take a break.

The company won't fall apart without you. You can temporarily let a

professional team manage it. I don't want you to exhaust yourself.

Think more about Timmy and me. Grandpa needs your encouragement

in the hospital, too. Your parents are the same, you know?"

Camille comforted him intimately, soothing him with gentle words.

Ayan didn't interrupt her with even half a word. He maintained silence,

listening to her encouragement until she finished speaking. Ayan then

spoke in a calm tone, "So, you're worried about me?"

"Yes," Camille responded sincerely.

Seeing her earnest expression, Ayan found it adorable. His eyes were

filled with indulgence as he chuckled softly, “Thank you for your

concern. I am indeed a bit tired, but I can't just abandon Simpson

Group. If I'm tired, all I need is a hug from you, and I won't be tired

anymore, okay?"

“Is it really that effective?"

"Of course.”

"Alright." Camille willingly nestled into Ayan's embrace once again. She

said, "I'll give you a hug."

Ayan held her once more and whispered, "With you here, I'm never

tired."

After indulging in each other for a while, Ayan went to take a shower.

His phone was casually placed on the nearby vanity. So, when a

message came in, Camille, who was applying hand cream, naturally

noticed it.

She didn't have the habit of checking Ayan's phone. They maintained

basic respect for each other, though there might be moments of

jealousy, they never harbored suspicions.

However, the content of this message contained words she recognized.

That's why Camille kept her gaze fixed on the phone screen.

The message was from Kian.

The content, however, made Camille frown deeply, and her expression

became profoundly grim.

Camille remained in this state for a while until Ayan finished showering

and came out. Seeing her sitting there motionless and unresponsive,

even without a glance or response upon hearing his voice, Ayan gently

spoke, "Cami?"

Camille remained unresponsive, seemingly oblivious to his presence.

Ayan walked over and lifted his hand, gently placing it on her shoulder.

Only then did she react, lifting her gaze to meet Ayan's.

Their eyes locked, and Camille's eyes revealed emotions clearly to

Ayan.

He furrowed his brows slightly, asking in a low voice, "What's wrong?"

Camille bit her lip lightly, the depth of her eyes growing heavier. Slowly,

she spoke, "Kian sent a message to you just now. I didn't mean to

sneak a look, but the message appeared on the phone screen, and I

unintentionally saw the content.”

Ayan, upon hearing this, showed no blame or any discernible emotion.

His response was more of an indifferent nature, a complete lack of

concern.

He smiled faintly, lightening the atmosphere. He reached for the phone

on the table, glanced at the message content, and then calmly said,

"Want to ask me about something? I had Kian look into it just now,

didn't expect results so soon."

“Is it really related to him?"

"At the moment, it seems that way."

Camille's brows furrowed even tighter. He asked, "Do you feel guilty or

responsible for this in your heart?" Camille remained silent, essentially

confirming Ayan's assumption. He continued, "This is not your fault. It's

his personal actions, unrelated to any of us, understand?"
