Chapter 1126: Delighted
He gently held Camille's hand, squeezing it in his palm. His gaze, warm
and fixed on Camille, he said, "Kian just called me. He mentioned that
Mario's secretary contacted him. Mario wants to collaborate with me."
Camille had vaguely heard the name Mario, but the details were not
entirely clear. So when Ayan said this, she was slightly taken aback.
She looked at Ayan and asked, "Why does he want to collaborate with
you?"
"The Simpson Group is sponsoring the design competition, and since
it's held in Hance City, the organizers have collaborated with the
Simpson Group several times. Mario wants to establish a connection
with the organizers through the Simpson Group. He also sees this as
an opportunity to expand King Group's presence in Hance City."
Ayan explained softly, his gaze never leaving Camille. He looked at her
and asked, "If I really collaborate with Mario, will you be upset? Will you
be angry because of Sienna?"
Camille's expression became serious. She furrowed her brows slightly,
and her face showed a rather unpleasant look. Leaving aside whether
she would be angry with Ayan, Sienna might also be upset, right?
Although Sienna wouldn't stop Ayan from collaborating with anyone,
what about Rex? Rex and Ayan were friends, Sienna was her friend. If
they collaborated with Mario, wouldn't it distance their relationships with
Rex?
The more Camille thought about it, the more confused she felt. She
looked up at Ayan, opened her mouth, and asked, âIf I don't agree, will
you give up on this idea?"
"If you don't agree, I will indeed hesitate. But because King Group's
channels in terms of investment align with what the Simpson Group
needs, I think Mario probably anticipated this and believed I would
agree to his proposal. That's why he had his secretary contact me at
this particular time."
"What are your thoughts then?"
"I will likely agree because it benefits the Simpson Group.â
"If you've already made up your mind, why ask me?"
Camille spoke indifferently, her expression exceptionally cold. Almost
devoid of any emotions.
Ayan instantly caught the change in her mood. Seeing her indifference,
Ayan asked, "Do you think I'm being too indifferent to human feelings?
In fact, this matter is not entirely bad. Even if Rex finds out, he will
advise me not to bother about him and treat Mario according to the
normal cooperation relationship with the Simpson Group. If it's
genuinely beneficial to the Simpson Group, Rex would think it's better
for me to collaborate with him."
Camille pursed her lips and remained silent, her expression cold.
Her emotions were complicated, and her feelings were chaotic.
Her face showed a slightly solemn look as she looked at Ayan. There
were many emotions in her eyes, but she couldn't find the words to
express them.
Their eyes met, and Ayan calmly said, "Rest assured, if I really have
this intention, I will definitely talk to Rex. The reason I'm telling you now
is that I don't want you to treat me like this."
"Sorry, you have your plans, but my thoughts are more straightforward.
I believe our relationship with Rex and Sienna is good, so we shouldn't
associate with Mario."
"Cami, even if I'm partnering with Preston today, if he has what I need,
I'd still collaborate with him. Business and life are two different things.
Some things I can't explain in a few words, but when it comes to
Simpson Group's interests, I can't obstruct it for personal reasons.â
Ayan put it all out there, undoubtedly hoping Camille would understand.
However, Camille's emotions were in turmoil. Although she knew Ayan
was talking about a business relationship, given the relationship
between the Ward family and the Simpson family, wouldn't this kind of
interaction create a rift between them?
Camille couldn't quite understand. However, since Ayan had expressed
himself this way, she simply nodded slightly. "You handle this yourself
because I don't know what to say. But as you said, talk to Rex before
making a decision. Don't let a collaboration harm your relationship.â
"Yeah, I know," Ayan nodded.
Camille said, "I'm tired, don't want to think about it anymore. I want to
go to sleep.â
Seeing her low spirits, Ayan didn't object. He just nodded slightly,
agreed, and then watched Camille go upstairs.
After Camille went upstairs, Ayan picked up his phone and called Rex
directly. The two discussed the topic for a while. Rex's attitude was just
as Ayan expected-collaboration was collaboration, and relationships
were relationships.
If Mario wanted to create a rift between them through this collaboration,
whether he could achieve his goal depended on Mario's intentions.
Ayan proposed an idea to Rex. Since Mario wanted to collaborate,
involving the Ward family would also act as a restraint on Mario. As for
Rex's involvement, it didn't need to be explicitly stated. Ayan and Rex
understood, and that was enough.
Their tacit understanding was as strong as ever. Ayan, feeling a bit
helpless, said, "Because of this, Camille is worried about damaging our
relationship and is starting to resent me."
"That's expected. Tell Camille thanks on behalf of Sienna,â Rex said.
"Hmph," Ayan snorted softly.
Rex chuckled. "Think about it. If even Camille is upset with you, doesn't
that mean Mario thinks there's a crack in our relationship?"
"What do you want?" Ayan asked indifferently.
Rex said, "No hurry. We don't need skills for now. Let's see his next
plans and actions. If he thinks there's a rift between us, I can satisfy
him when the time comes."
âIf you want me to act with you, be prepared to pay a fee," Ayan said
flatly. After a brief discussion on this topic, Ayan instructed Rex to talk
to Sienna and soothe Camille. If Camille was upset with him, he might
just decline this collaboration outright.
Because Camille was not in a good mood, Ayan replied to Kian that he
would consider it.
Mario also quickly received the message. He wasn't in a hurry. Ayan
not directly agreeing didn't disappoint him. He believed Ayan would
agree sooner or later; it was just a matter of time.
Due to this matter, there was an inexplicable coldness between Camille
and Ayan. There was no quarrel, no anger, they still spoke, but the tone
was a bit distant.
This continued until the next morning. After breakfast, they were about
to leave for the company together.
But just before leaving, Camille said, "You go by yourself. I'l go with
Sienna later."
Seeing her low spirits, Ayan didn't object. He just nodded slightly and
agreed. Then he watched Camille leave.
Ayan's face instantly darkened. He looked at Camille and asked, "Are
you still upset about last night? I thought I made myself clear enough. If
you have any questions, you can ask me. Don't give me the silent
treatment, okay?"
âI'm not giving you the silent treatment. I've said this is your job, and I
won't interfere. Whatever decision you make is up to you."
"Then why are you not happy now?"
âI'm not unhappy.â
"Camille, do you think I'm blind?" Ayan chuckled in exasperation,
looking at Camille. Her emotions, including her displeasure, were all
written on her face. He could see everything clearly at a glance. He
said, "I've told you, if there's anything you don't understand, tell me.
Don't ignore it like this, okay?"
âYou're standing with the enemy of your best friend for a collaboration.
So, if it were my enemy, someone I compete with, would you also
collaborate with them without hesitation?" Camille had been thinking
about this question since last night. Actually, she didn't know why she
was fixating on this. She knew it wasn't Ayan's fault, so she had been
suppressing her emotions. She thought if she calmed down and talked
to Sienna, everything would be fine. But Ayan insisted on asking.
After she finished speaking, Ayan laughed. He said, "So, it's not about
Rex. It's because you assumed yourself in Rex's position, isn't it?"
