Chapter 1093: Shattered Dreams
Camille neither denied nor confirmed, her expression becoming more
tense.
In a low, hoarse voice, Ayan gently said, âTomorrow, have Sienna or
Kian accompany you to visit the Armstrong family. Remind them that
you have no connection with Preston. Tell them that if anything
happens, it's not your concern. Remember to record it, consider it a
talisman for yourself. After all, the Armstrong family has no shame.â
As Ayan mentioned the Armstrong family, his expression turned icy. He
seriously doubted that without the old Armstrong, Armstrong Corp
would have collapsed long ago. His disdain and hatred for Brody and
Page's actions were evident, especially their focus solely on self-
interest. How could he not despise such people?
Although his words about the Armstrong family weren't flattering,
Camille understood that it was because of her. The Armstrong family
had been cold and indifferent to her, to put it mildly. More accurately, it
was heartless and lacked any familial warmth.
Camille pursed her lips slightly, saying to Ayan, "When I remind the
Armstrong family, they'll probably brush it off as jealousy. They might
even think I'm trying to rain on their parade.â
âLet them think what they want. As long as you remind them and they
respond, whatever happens afterward has nothing to do with you. I'm
just concerned that if you don't remind them, they might have other
thoughts." After all, the Armstrong family was skilled at shifting blame,
and Ayan didn't want anything unfavorable to happen to Camille.
Under Ayan's guidance, Camille reluctantly agreed, planning to bring
Sienna along the next morning. However, for safety, Ayan arranged for
a driver to take them, ensuring they had someone looking out for them.
Camille nodded in agreement.
After Ayan finished his shower, they both went to bed. Camille nestled
gently in his embrace, but her mind was still occupied with the day's
events. She asked Ayan, "Preston won't really succeed, will he?"
She was referring to whether Preston would manage to push Horace
out of Armstrong Corp.
Ayan assured Camille, "Don't think too much about it. Horace's abilities
far surpass our estimates. Besides, when he invested in Armstrong
Corp, he signed an agreement with them. The terms of that agreement
are probably indecipherable to the Armstrong family. If they showed it to
Preston, I doubt he'd be willing to cooperate with them.â
Ayan's lips curled slightly, his eyes narrowing. The depth of his gaze
became colder. Camille's worries gradually dissipated after hearing his
explanation.
He was willing to entrust Armstrong Corp to Horace, not just because of
business reasons but also because of the relationship between Horace
and Grace, which Camille could trust. As for Preston, despite their long
acquaintance, recent events had introduced an indescribable element
of doubt into Camille's mind.
The matter Ayan spoke of haunted Camille's dreams that night,
centering around Preston's involvement with Armstrong Corp.
Consequently, the next morning, the first thing Camille did upon waking
was to make arrangements to meet Sienna.
She messaged Sienna, who hadn't replied yet. Camille quickly went to
freshen up and change clothes. Ayan returned from outside, calling her
downstairs for breakfast.
Seeing her already prepared, he asked in surprise, "Why are you up so
early?"
âI'm going to the Armstrong family in a while," Camille replied calmly.
"Going directly after breakfast?"
"Yes, the sooner I resolve it, the sooner I'll feel at ease.â
"All right then, let's go downstairs and eat now," Ayan suggested in a
low voice.
Camille nodded, following Ayan downstairs for breakfast.
After breakfast, Ayan left for the office, and Camille, accompanied by
Sienna, drove to the Armstrongs' villa.
The reason Camille decided to head to the Armstrong family so early
was undoubtedly due to last night's dream. She genuinely worried that
if something happened, the Armstrong family would find a way to blame
her.
Having experienced so much, Camille knew she needed to be cautious.
This way, if any unexpected incidents occurred, she wouldn't be unfairly
accused by the Armstrong family.
She understood that even if she informed the Armstrong family in
advance, they might still blame her if something went wrong. However,
she could present the recording as evidence, leaving the Armstrong
family with no room to argue. Dealing with the Armstrong family, she
had learned to protect herself by leaving behind evidence because, in
the hearts of Brody and Page, there was only room for themselves.
On the way, Camille's mood became somewhat heavy. Sienna noticed
and couldn't help but smile, saying, "Why do you look like you're about
to face a firing squad? Don't worry; I'm full of energy today. I won't let
them bully you. Relax!"
This was beyond doubt, and Camille trusted Sienna completely.
She slightly pursed her lips, looking at Sienna, and said, "Okay, thank
you. But I'm not worried; I'm just thinking about how to broach the
subject later."
Sienna said, "Of course, just be straightforward. No need for any twists
and turns. They'll probably understand if you speak directly.â
"I doubt they'll understand even if I say it."
"Well, you said it. If they pretend not to understand, let them. Who
wouldn't use old age as an excuse?"
Camille nodded in agreement. The words might be straightforward, but
the logic was sound.
They arrived at the Armstrong villa soon after. Camille had been visiting
frequently lately. Since marrying Ayan, she rarely came back unless
there was something significant. Even if she did, she wouldn't see
Brody and Page, and even if she did, it would be a cold reception
without any warmth. Over time, Camille wasn't too keen on coming
back.
Recently, her visits increased compared to the first year of marriage.
Camille and Sienna entered the Armstrong villa together. The staff,
seeing Camille return, were somewhat surprised. After all, it was early,
and Camille rarely came back so early. The staff unconsciously
informed Preston. Camille walked into the villa's living room just as
Brody finished breakfast, preparing to leave.
Seeing Camille return, his expression swept lightly over her, and he
asked, "Why are you here?"
He asked how she arrived, not how she returned. A slight difference but
with a world of distinction.
Camille narrowed her eyes slightly, her expression passing over
Brody's face with indifference. She silently told herself not to be
concerned about his attitude. Her voice sounded calmly, "I heard you
let Preston enter Armstrong Corp, is that true?"
Brody frowned slightly, his expression excessively cold. He stared at
Camille with a displeased look, feeling quite unhappy because he
perceived Camille's tone as an interrogation, making him even more
displeased.
"This is Armstrong Corp's business. There's no need for you to
intervene or inquire,â he stated.
