Chapter 1077: Wait a Moment

Ayan found himself in a deeply emotional state due to the situation with

Camille. Sophia was aware of the matter and suggested that Ayan deal

with Camille's situation first. If it became too complicated, he could

head back to Hance City.

Ayan didn't agree. Since he had come here, he knew he had to resolve

the work-related issues before leaving; otherwise, this trip would be in

vain.

Camille, on the other hand, had also received the news. Although she

had seen similar videos before, she never expected the situation to

escalate to this level. She couldn't help but laugh, glancing at Sienna.

"Does she want me dead to stop, huh?" Camille asked, her question

was accompanied by a smile. However, her eyes glistened with tears.

Page's actions had truly exceeded her expectations. She hadn't

anticipated that Page would go to such extremes. Now, Page seemed

to be not just crazy but perhaps even delusional.

Sienna quickly reassured her, "Don't say that. Whatever she wants to

do is her personal choice. If she had the capability, would she act like a

clown to seek attention?"

Sienna let out a disdainful huff and walked over to Camille, comforting

her in a low voice, "Don't overthink it, don't carry this burden. This isn't

your fault, and it's not real. You need to believe in yourself. Only when

you have faith in yourself can you overcome the public opinion. You

understand?"

Camille bit her lip and had a somber expression on her face. Her

emotions weren't great, and her demeanor reflected her melancholy.

After taking a deep breath and adjusting her mood, she continued, "I

believe in myself, and I know I'm not that kind of person. But the way

she's pushing me... I can't help but feel like we might not share a

genuine mother-daughter relationship."

Camille had entertained this thought before, but now she was more

convinced than ever. Perhaps Page's disapproval of her was because

she wasn't her biological daughter. Since Brody had already betrayed

her, their marital relationship had been unfaithful. She wondered if she

might be Brody's child with someone else, leading to Page's

longstanding dislike of her.

Although Brody hadn't treated her that well either, had he?

Camille's thoughts grew increasingly chaotic, and she felt like her mind

was wandering. She helplessly smiled and said, "What kind of person

is she, after all? What is she thinking? What's the benefit of doing this?"

Camille couldn't find answers that satisfied her, and her mind was in

turmoil. She was making an effort to control her emotions, but she was

still somewhat agitated. Sienna had already sent everyone else away to

work on different tasks, leaving only the two of them.

Sienna advised her, "If they treat you like they're not your real parents,

then just consider them as not your real parents. After all, their actions

are worse than those of strangers. She likes to put on a show; let her

do it. We don't need to pay attention.”

Camille nodded lightly and said, "I know, I don't need to pay attention.

It's just that seeing all this stuff annoys me."

Camille let out a deep sigh just as Sienna was about to speak. At that

moment, her phone rang.

Glancing at the caller ID, it was Ayan calling.

Sienna also noticed and said, "You can take the call; I'll step out for a

drink of water. We'll finish work early, and I'll take you out for some

good food. I recently found a hidden gem for delicious food."

Camille nodded with pursed lips, and Sienna left the meeting room.

Camille pressed the answer button, and Ayan's voice came through

immediately. He asked in his gentle tone, "What are you up to?"

Camille responded with a voice so light that it seemed she was

unaware of the current situation, though how could Ayan not know

about the online situation?

Puckering her lips, she replied, "I'm in a meeting."

Ayan uttered an agreeing sound, then casually asked, "Do you miss

me?"

"Not much.”

"Really?"

"Really."

Ayan let out a light hum and teased, "You heartless little thing. It always

feels like I'm the one missing you more. Have you finally got me

wrapped around your finger? If those boring internet friends saw our

dynamic, wouldn't they be surprised and think they're blind?"

Ayan spoke casually and with humor. Listening to his tone, Camille

couldn't help but laugh. She then continued in a light tone, "Who

knows? They probably think I have a heart of stone. I didn't even visit

my own mother in the hospital. And I even harmed my own mother for

the sake of my ex-husband's family. People like me must have been

dumped by you, right?"

She self-deprecatingly laughed, causing Ayan's expression to freeze for

a moment. Although his eyes displayed concern, she couldn't see it.

His voice, however, remained unchanged, as he said, "So, they're just

blind. They have no idea about the truth of the situation. These people

need to learn that speaking without understanding the facts has

consequences. I feel that the last apology was too lenient. We should

have just locked them up."

"The police station probably can't accommodate so many people, can

it? Besides, imprisoning them would only give them what they want,

and we'd have to bear the cost of their food and lodging. It's not cost-

effective, and it's giving them too much importance, isn't it?"

"Yeah, you're right. So don't take their words to heart. Don't let their

baseless rumors affect your emotions. People who care about you

know who you are, and that's all that matters. As for those who don't

care about you, why bother caring about them?"

After receiving a double dose of advice from Ayan and Sienna, Camille

had completely clarified her thoughts and gained a clear perspective.

She pursed her lips and spoke with a cheerful tone, "Yes, yes, you're

right. I don't care about them, and it's not worth my attention."

Ayan relaxed a little when he heard her speak this way. He hated

seeing Camille upset.

Then, he said to Camille, "Do you want to come to Dane City to keep

me company?"

Camille frowned slightly and replied, "Do you want me to go on

vacation with you in Dane City?"

“If you'd like, I can.”

"Aren’t you busy?" After all, during the trip to Dane City, he had been

constantly occupied, and it felt like he had no time for a vacation. He

seemed extremely busy and preoccupied.

Ayan said, "If you want a vacation, I can make time for it."

Camille responded, "No thanks. I don't have much to do, and I'm in

good spirits. At least now, I don't feel uncomfortable anymore. I'm living

my life as it comes, and I'm taking things as they come. I don't want to

force anything, and I'm okay with that.”

Camille took a deep breath and said to Ayan, "But there's one thing you

need to clarify with me. It's not that you don't want me."

"Alright, I'll clarify it for you. It's you who doesn't want me. Is that

better?" Ayan's tone carried a hint of reluctance.

Camille couldn't help but laugh upon hearing this and replied, “I didn't

think that way. I just want you to tell them that neither of us rejects the

other. It's all just a bit of fun."

Ayan, hearing this, seemed to let go of any remaining displeasure.

Without ending the call with Camille, he told her, "Wait for a couple of

minutes."

Camille then heard him saying a few things to Kian on the other end,

but his voice was too soft for her to make out clearly.

In less than two minutes, Ayan spoke to Camille, "Check Twitter!"

Camille knew that he had just posted an official statement on their

company's Twitter account.

She opened the Simpson Group's official Twitter page, and it seemed

like they had boosted the post. Even though it had only been posted for

a short while, there were already numerous replies and retweets from

popular bloggers.

The message was centered around Ayan's statement that neither he

nor Camille rejected the other. Even if someone were to reject the

other, it would be Camille rejecting him, but he would never not want

Camille.
