Chapter 1052: Run away

Camille didn't respond, just continued to let Sienna massage her

shoulders. Her expression had softened, and she even smiled a little.

"Sure, why not? Let's get a lifetime membership."

"Are you that generous? You'd just get a lifetime membership without

worrying that I'd take your money and run?"

"Where could you possibly run to?"

Camille had no worries.

Sienna continued the massage for a while before asking, "Do you feel

more comfortable now?"

Camille smiled and looked into Sienna’s eyes. Then she said, her voice

soft, "Guess why she came today?"

“I don't know. I thought she was here to make a scene again, so I was

prepared. I regret not doing anything last time. This time, I'll make sure

to stand up for you!"

Sienna was full of anger and disapproval about Page.

Camille felt grateful for Sienna’'s support. She reached out to squeeze

Sienna's arm. "Thank you for thinking like this."

"Between you and me, we don't need to thank each other. Although

we're not related by blood, we've known each other for so many years,

and our bond is stronger than with family or childhood friends."

Sienna was right. They were like family to each other. Sienna asked,

"So, why did she come in? Did she want you to leave with Wesley?"

Camille shook her head and denied that. She slowly revealed the

purpose of Page's visit, "She came to apologize.”

"Apologize?!"

Camille asked, "Are you surprised too?"

Sienna furrowed her brows, and her expression of shock remained

undiminished. She said, "I am indeed surprised. To be honest, I find it

hard to believe that she came to apologize to you. What about you? Do

you believe it?"

Camille managed a bitter smile, her voice devoid of warmth as she

replied, "Naturally, I don't believe it. What kind of apology comes after

what happened last night? Shouldn't it have sparked anger instead?

Why apologize now? And how could such an apology even occur

between them and me? If they were capable of doing so, they would

have done it long ago. The fact that they never did in the first place

makes it impossible for me to believe in this apology now."

Camille couldn't convince herself in any way. This was an absolute

impossibility.

If it wasn't real, what could Page's true purpose be?

Camille's emotions grew more agitated as she spoke. While she initially

thought she could remain composed, she couldn't suppress her inner

frustration and emotions when talking to Sienna, her closest confidante.

She took a deep breath to regain her composure and looked at Sienna.

Then she asked, "So, what do you think I should do?"

Sienna listened with a great deal of displeasure. She snorted and said,

"She's definitely up to no good. You mustn't be deceived. If she's truly

changed her ways and realized her mistakes, why didn't she apologize

and make amends earlier?"

"I share the same thought. That's why I didn't believe it," Camille

responded. If it were real, Camille thought that time would be the

witness. If they were indeed seeking to rebuild their mother-daughter

relationship and had truly changed, time would tell the truth.

Sienna didn't press further, but she asked about the events of the

previous night, "So, what happened last night? Did you have an

argument or something?"

Given that it was so late last night, and Camille and Ayan had been

walking outside her house, it didn't seem like something had gone

wrong at the time.

Camille sighed as she recounted the events at the Simpson's mansion

from last night.

As she spoke, Sienna immediately chimed in, “They must be out of

their minds, right? They didn't show you any respect at all, did they? It's

fortunate that it's the Simpson family, and Ayan and his parents and

grandfather are not the kind to mind such things. If it were a different

husband and in-laws, they'd be pushing you into a difficult situation.”

Sienna's words brought back images to Camille's mind, and she

realized that Sienna was right. No one would want an unhappy,

unwelcome daughter-in-law, and Camille was fortunate to have

Fletcher, Talia, and the elderly Mr. Simpson be so accepting and loving

toward her.

Camille gave a sheepish smile and said, "The Simpson family's

kindness towards me is something they can never match. While it's true

that giving birth is a significant gesture, it's meaningless without proper

upbringing. An unhappy family environment affects the children

profoundly.”

Sienna embraced Camille and reassured her in a low voice, "Don't

worry. We don't need their kindness. Even without their support, there

are many others who care for you. Look, don't we love you?"

Sienna had a way of making Camille feel better, even during the

toughest moments.

With Sienna's comforting words, Camille's doubts and worries began to

dissipate, and she was able to continue working with Sienna on their

afternoon tasks.

The time for the design competition had been set, with about two

months remaining for the preliminary round. However, the deadline for

submission was just a month away. The preliminary round was done

through online submissions, and candidates had to use their

pseudonyms. Only if their work was selected would they advance to the

competition. So, this phase was crucial to determine whether they had

what it took to compete.

Sienna was getting nervous, despite Camille's presence. She felt an

unspoken sense of unease, especially during this critical time. She

watched Camille meticulously revise the drawings and asked anxiously,

"Cami, do you think we'll make it through the preliminary round?"

Camille glanced at Sienna, seeing the concern in her eyes. She

continued to edit the drawings, her voice steady, "Whether we make it

through is not something we should be worried about. It's up to the

judges. What we should do is give it our all. If we've decided to

participate, we need to showcase our true talent, right?"

“Yeah, you're right. I've been overthinking this, and now I feel a lot of

pressure.”

"Then don't overthink it. If we make it, that's great. If not, don't be

disheartened. It's just a competition. Perhaps this time, we haven't

encountered judges who appreciate our work. But there will be others

who will. As long as our work is good, it'll be recognized sooner or

later.”

"Right, Teacher Armstrong's advice is on point."

Camille began to tease Sienna, and her lighter tone helped lift the

mood.

Sienna played along and said, "Since Teacher Armstrong's advice is so

good, let's listen to Teacher Armstrong and get back to work, shall we?"

"Sure!"

Sienna nodded and immediately returned to work.

After finishing work, Camille and Sienna left the office together. Since

Page had invited Camille for dinner, Camille decided to have the meal

at Sienna'’s restaurant because she felt it was the safest choice, given

their previous encounters with Page.

Sienna accompanied Camille to the restaurant. On the way, she called

Ayan to inform him that they would be having dinner and returning later.

Ayan asked, "You're having dinner with Sienna?"

Camille responded, "Can I tell you about it when I get back tonight? I'm

driving to the restaurant now."

"Alright, come back early.”

"Okay, got it."

After ending the call, Camille placed her phone down.

Sienna clicked her tongue softly and said, "Look at Mr. Simpson acting

like he can't be away from you for a moment. He's already telling you to

come back early after a simple dinner. I'm guessing he's secretly

cursing me for taking away your personal time. So, I hope you make

things clear in the future. Don't make me take the blame. After all, I'm

not having dinner with you, so I shouldn't bear that burden!"
