Chapter 1042: Princess's Husband
The old Simpson's tone was exceptionally serious, and his face twisted
into a stern expression, clearly revealing his anger and disapproval
towards Ayan.
Perhaps it had been a while since the old Simpson had been this angry,
and for a moment, Ayan and Camille were both taken aback.
Camille, in particular, was seeing the old Simpson angry for the first
time. While he would usually be serious with Ayan, it was rarely to this
extent.
The old Simpson fixed his gaze on Ayan and said, "Rumors are a
double-edged sword, killing subtly. Do you think your position is secure
enough? Do you believe the Simpson Group is stable enough? But
have you ever considered that we live in the internet era? Haven't you
seen the cases of online harassment? It's like a hornet's nest,
swarming with countless bees. Even if you are powerful and capable,
you won't be able to handle the onslaught of these bees.â
Ayan's expression remained composed, but not out of displeasure
towards the old Simpson. Instead, it was because of the implications
behind the old Simpson's words.
His thin lips tightened, and his expression grew somewhat distant as he
replied, "You're right. I made a mistake. I shouldn't have tried to be so
tough and confrontational.â
The old Simpson's complexion slightly eased, but he still didn't look
particularly pleased. His voice remained deep as he continued, "Let's
put an end to this matter. Don't push any further. You need to
understand, when you push someone into a corner, they can do
anything. Now, you're not alone. You have a child, Cami, and the entire
Simpson family. You need to think twice before you act. It's not about
fearing or being afraid of the other side; it's about creating a protective
barrier for the ones you need to shield.â
The old Simpson clearly had doubts about Ayan, even though he
recognized his grandson's capabilities and trusted him more than the
other rich kids in their circle. Those rich kids only knew how to spend
money, or to put it less nicely, they were just squanderers.
However, Ayan had been working for the Simpson Group since college,
and once he graduated, the entire group was gradually handed over to
him. At that time, even Fletcher had been somewhat concerned about
the old Simpson's decision, thinking that Ayan was too young and
lacked the necessary experience. But the old Simpson completely
trusted Ayan, giving him full control.
Now, Ayan had become what he was today, and this process hadn't
been as easy and smooth as it seemed to outsiders. Ayan had
encountered many challenges along the way, but he had faced them
alone. While his peers were enjoying their youth and having fun, he
was sitting in the office dealing with paperwork.
This different treatment had shaped the Ayan of today but had also
taken away a lot of his freedom.
The old Simpson thought of all this, and the chill in his expression
softened a bit. Ayan, however, was unaware of the old Simpson's
thoughts. He simply nodded after the old Simpson's words and said, "I
understand.â
The old Simpson then asked, "Do you think my advice makes sense?"
Ayan responded, "Of course, it makes sense. I just wanted to resolve
this matter quickly and ensure that those who harmed Camille and the
interests of the Simpson family face the consequences they deserve.
But I neglected the issue you pointed out."
Even though he didn't believe he had done anything wrong, this matter
concerned Camille and the entire Simpson family, so he couldn't be
comfortable about it.
Seeing his positive attitude, the old Simpson didn't say much more. He
only said, "Alright, I'm tired too. Take Cami home."
After bidding farewell to the old Simpson, both of them left the room.
Camille took the initiative to hold Ayan's hand, lightly pursing her lips as
she asked in a soft voice, "Are you okay?"
He gazed at her and responded, "Not really, what should we do?
You've seen it too; Grandfather treats me like he picked me up from
somewhere. Do you think you're the real daughter, and I'm just the one
raised and groomed to be your husband?"
He was serious as he spoke, and his voice was particularly magnetic,
making Camille's cheeks flush instantly. She furrowed her brows
slightly, her voice low and husky as she replied, "What are you talking
about!"
Ayan chuckled, his voice growing even deeper. He said, "Is the
princess feeling shy?"
âI am not," Camille replied. Only after replying did she realize how he
kept calling her a princess and her a husband. This man was crazy.
Camille didn't want to continue this topic. Anyway, every time, she
couldn't argue with him, so she quickly changed the subject and said,
âLet's go check on Timmy."
Ayan raised his hand to check the time on his wrist and then asked, "At
this hour, he's probably going to sleep. We haven't had dinner. Should
we have something casual here at the Simpson's mansion or head
back to eat?"
Because they had rushed over, neither of them had eaten, and now,
although it wasn't very late, they hadn't had dinner. However, after what
they had just gone through, Camille had lost her appetite.
She said, "Let's go back and eat."
Dinner was prepared before they left, and the dishes were still warm.
Worried that Timmy might already be asleep, Camille and Ayan didn't
want to disturb him. They simply greeted Fletcher, who was waiting in
the living room, and then left the Simpson's mansion.
After their round trip, they returned to Franklin Bay again, and it was
almost 10 o'clock.
Having dinner at this time meant Camille wasn't going to eat much. She
had already put down her chopsticks and was watching Ayan eat.
Occasionally, she even tried to feed him some vegetables. After a few
times, Ayan raised his eyes, met her playful gaze, and asked, "Why
aren't you eating?"
âI'm full.â
âYou're full after just a few bites?"
âYeah, it's late, and I'm too afraid to eat. I want to lose weight. Since
Timmy was born, I feel like I've gained some weight." Camille couldn't
help but complain. Although everyone told her she hadn't gained
weight, even Sienna said there was no difference from before, she felt
a bit anxious about her looks. She believed she'd gained a few extra
pounds.
So, she was now starting to control her diet. Even during the day, she
intentionally ate less.
Ayan narrowed his eyes, his expression somewhat cold, and his voice
also became displeased as he said, "Who said you're fat?"
"I said it."
âYou're quite skinny now, and your face has no flesh." He set down his
bowl and chopsticks and picked up his phone, then found a video and
handed it to Camille. He said in a deliberately slow tone, "Look at her.
Due to deliberate dieting, she can't eat even if she wants to. She's
become extremely thin. So thin that she looks like a skeleton. Is that
attractive?â
The video Ayan showed Camille was posted by Derek in their men's
group chat a few days ago. It featured a girl who had gone on an
extreme diet, which had led to her becoming so thin that she was
barely recognizable. Even her own mother probably couldn't identify
her.
In fact, Ayan hadn't watched the video and didn't know how thin she
had become. He had just glanced at their conversation, so when
Camille mentioned wanting to eat less, it reminded him of this video. He
immediately found it and showed it to her. At the moment when Camille
saw it, she was also quite shocked. This was a bit scary.
But sometimes, to dispel Camille's desire to eat less, a little shock was
necessary.
Camille didn't finish watching the video. She immediately turned off her
phone and handed it back to Ayan. Then, she picked up her chopsticks
and continued eating.
Ayan looked at her and couldn't help but smile as he asked, "Not
hungry anymore?"
âYou said I'm not fat, right?"
âIf you're not fat, why eat less?"
With Ayan's "advice," Camille ate half a bowl of rice, some soup, and
then felt much better. She hadn't had much appetite earlier, but now
she felt reenergized. She was no longer sluggish and had a good
appetite.
After dinner, Ayan took Camille for a walk. Although it was late, taking a
stroll outside was still quite pleasant. However, simply walking around
seemed a bit boring, so Camille came up with a mischievous idea.
