Alpha Zagan
As my driver steered away from Gabrielâs pack, my mind was consumed by one thought. My pup. She was mine, not Gabrielâs. Heâd only make her weak, just like the rest of his pack.
Damn, he was already weakening her. She hadnât even learned to use her mind-link yet. That shouldâve been the first thing he taught her.
Instead, he let some snotty kid from his weak beta practice scent with her. Then he had the nerve to sulk because Iâd taken his little brother. But not my pup. She stared me straight in the eye.
I was proud of her for that, but it also pissed off my wolf. Such disrespect to an Alpha. She might be my pup, but she was also a weak half-breed.
Sheâd have to work twice as hard to earn the respect of any wolf. Especially any wolf in my pack, which was where she belonged.
One day, sheâd be a strong warrior. But not if she stayed where she was. I didnât see a single female warrior during my visit. Even the Alphaâs sister was a whimpering little thing.
Crying for her child! She should be thanking me. Iâd make a man out of him. Make him strong enough to control his wolf.
As we reached the edge of his territory, my driver stopped. It was dark now.
I waited for him to open my door. I stepped out and walked towards the black truck parked near the treeline.
I waited as the door opened.
âI hope that little half-breed whelp is worth it,â Dante grunted.
I growled and grabbed his throat, slamming him into the side of the truck.
âThatâs my pup youâre talking about, show some respect,â I growled, before letting him go.
Dante coughed and rubbed his throat.
âI will respect her as your pup, Alpha, but she will have to earn respect in her own right,â he replied, with his eyes lowered.
I nodded, âand she will. She will bow and submit to me. I will train her hard, and she will gain the respect of all of my pack once weâre through.â
Dante looked up, âYou think she will submit that easily?â
I laughed, âNo, Dante, she will not. But she will learn, just as I did. Now do you have what I asked for?â
Dante nodded and handed me a container and a syringe.
âScent blocker. They wonât detect you unless you are seen, and a sedative laced with Wolfsbane. It should knock her and her wolf out for about eight hours.
âThat should be enough time to get out of their territory and back to our own.
I nodded as I took both items.
âWill you force her into the pack, like you did the boy?â Dante asked.
I shook my head, âNo. But by the time Iâve finished with her, sheâll be begging me to break her bond with Gabrielâs feeble pack. Then I will allow her to join us on my terms.â
Dante nodded and headed back to his truck. Just before he got in, he turned to look at me.
âDo you want any special arrangement made?â he asked.
I smirked and nodded.
âShe can share a cell with the boy. Weâll see how much he hates her, just suppress his wolf for now. Then weâll see how strong my little half-breed pup is.â
I removed my clothes and handed them to the driver, who handed me a pair of shorts and a length of rope. I covered myself with the scent blocker.
Once I had finished, I tied the shorts around one arm and the rope around the other arm.
Laying the syringe on the floor, I prepared to shift. My bones cracked as I transformed. Picking up the syringe in my mouth, I headed back towards Gabrielâs pack house and my pup.
Stealthily, Sephtis.
I warned my wolf.
He nodded silently in my mind.
His black coat all but hid us, as we blended into the darkness of the night. The patrols wouldnât smell us, nor would they see us if I was careful.
Only my wolfâs golden eyes were visible in the darkness. The rest of us blended in perfectly. It was a trait of the Alphas of the Blood Fang pack.
I hoped my pupâs wolf would be the same when she finally emerged. I had no idea what her wolf would be like. She would be the first female pup in several generations.
All the previous Alphas had only produced male heirs.
We managed to avoid all the patrols. I wasnât surprised. This pack was weak. I raised my snout and took in all the scents until I discerned the one I was after.
Now that we were in the vicinity of the pack house, I had to be even more careful.
The scent wasnât coming from the pack house though. So, the alpha had a house of his own.
I followed the scent to a largish property, slightly set away from the others. A foolish idea for the Alpha to be so far away from his warriors.
Maybe one day I would take over this pack, kill Alpha Gabriel and the rest of his family. His territory had many benefits, but tonight wasnât about that. Tonight was about retrieving my pup.
I crept around the back of the house and shifted into my human form.
The shorts were still tied around my arm, so I quickly untied them and put them on, then I shoved the rope and the syringe in the pockets.
I walked around the house until I found a partially open window. Carefully sliding it open, I crept inside.
My father had always told me it wasnât always best to go in hard. Sometimes a stealthy approach was better. I hated to admit it, but my father was right.
Hindsight told me that always seemed to be the case. What I didnât know was how he would react to having a half-breed grand-pup, but it was better than no grand-pup at all, and I needed an heir.
I was grateful that the house was all on one level. My feet barely made a sound as I walked across the floor.
After opening the front door, I quietly sniffed the air, finding the pupâs scent almost immediately.
It led me down a corridor. A door was slightly open, and a small amount of light came from the room.
Pathetic. She would soon get used to being in darkness. How else would her other senses kick in? A good warrior can fight in light or dark.
I managed to slip into the room without even having to move the door. I spotted the monitor on the dresser and quickly flipped the switch on its side to turn it off. I didnât want Alpha Gabriel interrupting me.
I approached the bed where she was sleeping soundly. That wouldnât last long. Sheâd know what was coming before I even knocked her out.
I yanked the cover off her. She was clad in a flimsy nightdress. I rolled my eyes. Sheâd soon wish sheâd worn something more substantial to bed.
I swiftly grabbed her, my arm wrapping around her midsection, pinning her arms to her sides. My other hand clamped over her mouth. She tried to squeal, but no sound escaped.
She attempted to thrash around, but I held her too tightly. She was a tough little pup, though. When thrashing didnât work, she tried to bite my hand.
I carried her out the front door, leaving it wide open. If I was lucky, the clueless Alpha might even think sheâd run off. I ignored the pain in my hand.
It was nothing compared to what was coming, and it would heal soon enough.
Once we were outside, I growled in her ear, âYouâll regret that, you filthy little mutt.â
I headed towards the trees near the back of the Alphaâs house. Once we were far enough away, I tossed her onto the ground, landing her on her stomach.
I grabbed her hands and tied them behind her back.
âTime to teach you some respect, pup,â I growled lowly.
I flipped her onto her back. She was glaring at me.
âWhen Daddy finds out what youâve done...â she started.
I sneered at her and wrapped my hand around her throat.
âIâm your real father. Your so-called daddy will never find you. He wonât have a clue where you are. Hell, he probably thinks you ran away.â
Her bravado turned to fear as I applied a bit more pressure to her throat.
âRemember this the next time you disrespect me,â I hissed. âI could snap your little neck like a twig.â
I let go of her neck and watched as she gasped for air.
I chuckled, âNot so brave now, are you pup?â
She just stared at me, not daring to talk back.
I pulled a syringe out of my pocket, removing the needle cover with my teeth. I smirked.
âSweet dreams, little one,â I hissed, jabbing the syringe into her neck.
Her eyes rolled back in her head before it fell limply to the side.
I hoisted her over my shoulder.
With one last look around, I headed for the border and my waiting car.
When Alpha Gabriel woke up, his pack would be missing two pups, not just one.
It took less time than I thought to reach the border and the waiting car. It was quicker in wolf form, but that was to be expected.
As soon as I crossed the border, my driver was waiting. I stowed the pup in the back seat and took the clothes my driver handed me. I dressed quickly and climbed in.
âLetâs go,â I growled.
My driver was good. He followed orders without question. All of my pack did. Any thought of disobedience would be met with severe punishment. Both pups would learn that soon enough.
It took just under two hours to reach the pack house. I lifted the pup from the back seat and headed straight to the dungeon where Dante was waiting.
The other pup was already there. Heâd been dosed with enough Wolfsbane to keep his wolf quiet. A silver collar was around his neck, chaining him to the wall.
As I opened the door, he looked up. Seeing it was me, he dropped his gaze and lowered his head.
âYou learn fast, pup. Iâve brought you a playmate. I hope she learns quickly for both your sakes.â
I tossed her onto the floor and grabbed another silver collar. I fastened it around her neck and attached another chain to it. Then I cut the ropes binding her wrists.
They were just out of reach of each other, in case they thought about fighting. I didnât want them hurting each other, at least not without supervision. Theyâd be fighting each other soon enough.
Whoever submitted first wouldnât get fed. Theyâd learn to win soon enough. Once they were both tough enough to fight in human form, Iâd release their wolves.
Then weâd see who was really tough.
I had a hunch it would be the girl, but only time would tell.
Cunning always won out against brute force, and I had a feeling the girl was more cunning than the boy.
I chuckled as I slammed the dungeon door shut. Once theyâd been honed into deadly fighters, Iâd send them back to Alpha Gabriel as my warriors. Theyâd lead the attack against his pack.
By the time I was done with these two, theyâd hate him. The girl because he didnât try to find her, the boy because he gave him away to me. Iâd fill their minds with hate and revenge.
Theyâd be my weapons. Iâd succeed where my father had failed. Iâd take over every pack this side of the border. Iâd get rid of the council and rule with an iron fist.
Once that was done, Iâd wage war on the humans. Iâd be the first Alpha king, and everyone would fear me.
