âDidnât expect much from a guy who is obsessed with a person so much that he is even willing to buy him!â He huffed, turning around and walking away from him.
âWhere are you going?!â Irvin asked him, following behind.
âBack home!â Zadkiel answered, following the trail of the tires of the car to go back from where they came but Irvin grabbed his arm and turned him around.
âWhy donât you understand that Iâm trying to get you out of that orphanage?!â Irvin snapped at him but Zadkielâs mind was thinking about one thing.
Irvinâs hand on his armâ¦
âWeâre helping you to be where you belong.â Irvinâs words made him snap out of the trance. He broke free from his grip.
âWhere I belong? You mean in your bed and then in some dumpster when youâre done with me?!?â He cocked his eyebrow. Irvin sighed.
âZadkiel, you wouldnât have much longer to live without me.â Irvin tried to make him understand but he laughed.
âBeing a little too full of yourself, arenât you?â He gave him a dead look.
âIâm not joking. You must be 19 or 20. Youâve got 4 more years before your health starts to deteriorate if we donât mate. Please donât push me away.â Irvin spoke, grabbing his shoulder and staring right into his eyes. Zadkiel freed himself because every time Irvin touched him he could feel himself melt like ice cream and he had no idea why.
âOh! So, youâre a prophet?â He taunted. âWell, hate to break it to you, Mr Psychic, but your prophecy is wrong!â He uttered.
âZadkiel, Iâm not joking. Youâve got four maximum years before you die.â Irvin stated a very serious expression on his face.
âOh yeah?! Well, then visit me a day before the fourth year gets completed. Iâll let your father adopt me then.â He rolled his eyes.
âThis is all a joke to you isnât it?!â Irvin seethed through his teeth, holding him again by his shoulders.
âOf course it is because Iâm already dying. You made a prophecy of 4 years right? I give you one year and then youâre invited to my funeral.â He spat, pushing Irvin away who was lost in what Zadkiel had said.
He didnât wait for Irvin to respond as he turned around to walk away. Tears welled up in his eyes as he made his mind to leave before Irvin could see him cry. He had no idea why the idea of dying was scaring him so much when he had accepted his fate. He had no idea why his tears rolled down his cheeks when he thought about how he was given 4 years to live but heâd hardly complete three.
âWhat do you mean?â He was brought out of his thoughts when a hand grabbed his upper arm and turned him around.
âDonât touch me!â He hissed at him, as more tears flowed down his cheeks.
âHey⦠Iâm sorry.â Irvin instantly retreated his hand and put it up in surrender.
âBut please tell me what did you mean?â Irvin requested. Zadkiel stared at him and turned away his head.
âFirst answer one of my questions.â He tried to bargain. Irvin instantly nodded because now heâd do anything just to know what he meant by his previous statement.
âWhy canât I resist you? This force always attracts me towards you and even though I want to I canât just avoid it.â He waited for an answer as Irvin took a deep breath.
âIâve told you but you donât seem to understand it. I can give you the answer but youâre only going to get mad.â Irvin honestly answered. Zadkiel took a step towards him, staring at his face.
âI canât seem to think badly about you. When you touch I just want you to engulf me in your arms. I donât like you but I donât dislike you as well though I should after all that youâve done. I think about you all the time. I can smell you from a distance and it takes every nerve in my body, not to run into your arms. When I think about hurting you, the idea alone hurts me. Why?â He mumbled quietly, staring down at the floor. He seemed lost in his thoughts.
âItâs almost impossible for you to resist me. The question is how you even do it?â Irvin counter questioned, making Zadkiel lookup.
âYou seem to know about me more than I do.â He frowned.
âI know a lot about you if not everything, but I canât just drop the bomb on you. Iâll let you know slowly.â Irvin assured him but Zadkiel wasnât going to let it go that easily.
âTell me. I can take it.â He pleaded. Irvin gave him a soft smile and shook his head.
âI will. For now, letâs sit down.â Irvin offered and gestured for Zadkiel to sit on a large rock. He gave him a tight-lipped smile and flopped down on the rock. Irvin followed.
âSo?â He pressed the subject.
âYou and I have a bond. Itâs like an engagement. You know, itâs like no matter what happens weâre gonna end up together. Weâre soul mates. Thatâs why weâre doing this because making it seem like weâre adopting you, seems way easier than explaining this to Mr Joseph.â Irvin explained. Zadkiel looked with disbelief visible in his eyes.
âYeah, right!â He snickered.
âSee! Thatâs the problem with you. Whenever I try to tell you something, you just donât believe me. Why am I even wasting my time?!â Irvin got offended and stood up in irritation.
âBecause itâs absurd,â Zadkiel murmured, shaking his head.
âOh yeah? Do you know whatâs absurd? Your nails growing out of your fingers in a pointed shape like youâre some beast. Your heartbeat increasing and the urge to kill someone. Your body going through a cycle of pain once every month and in your case every once or twice a year as well!â Irvin spat, stomping away from Zadkiel who was sitting there in shock.
âHow do you know?â He asked, mumbling.
âDoes it matter?! Whenever I tell you something, you just donât seem to listen. You think Iâm joking and making up things! So, mister, you explain to me why your body does what it does if you know better?!â Irvin was beyond pissed right now. Zadkiel just hung his head low. He thought about it and he came to the conclusion that he didnât trust Irvin.
âTake me back.â He spoke, lifting his gaze from the grass and rising to his feet.
âWhat?â Irvin questioned, clearly not expecting that answer.
âI donât trust you. Youâre just saying those things so I agree with your dadâs offer of adopting me so you guys can treat me the way you want and I wonât let it happen. Now take me back.â He strode back to the car and hopped inside. Irvin sighed and followed him. He pulled the door open and jumped inside, furiously.
âYour pessimism is incurable.â Irvin muttered as he ignited the engine which roared to life.
âI am incurable,â Zadkiel mumbled under his breath so that Irvin wouldnât hear it.
âI know! Now take me back and let your dad know that I donât want to be his sonâs play toy so, Iâd be grateful if he wonât call to disturb me anymore.â He spoke, keeping the tone rigid. Irvin just rolled his eyes and didnât respond the whole ride.
âI hope I donât see you again,â Zadkiel spoke as soon as Irvin pulled over the car, opening the door of the car. Irvin grabbed his hand making him freeze.
âTake this.â Irvin handed him a phone before he could argue or deny the offer, Irvin beat him to it. âI give you a week. Think about what I said. After that inform me about your decision through this and then dump it. And if you donât call, Iâll know that your answer wasnât positive.â He gave one last stare at those beautiful brown eyes and then freed Zadkielâs hand.
âWhat you gonna do if I donât call back or if I donât take your offer?â He raised his eyebrow.
âThen Iâll have to reject you as my mate and go find someone else,â Irvin murmured. Zadkiel chuckled bitterly, shaking his head tauntingly at Irvin.
âAnd half an hour ago you were saying, we have a bond. No matter what weâre gonna end up together. Thereâs no one else for you and the same goes for me.â He mocked Irvin who sighed, done with Zadkiel.
âIâm so done with you.â Irvin exhaled, looking away. He was irritated by him.
âAnd you want me to take you seriously when your statement changes every half an hour?â He threw the phone at the dashboard of the car and exited, angrily. Irvin instantly jumped out of the car before Zadkiel was too far to hear him.
âAn omega canât live without an alpha. Just so you know.â Irvin said looking at his back who was walking away from him. Zadkiel stopped and turned around.
âI already donât have much of a time to live,â He answered before turning around.
âIf I reject you, youâll die in days,â Irvin informed him. Zadkiel didnât turn around this time but he did freeze.
âI donât believe in your magical story but if thatâs so, then itâd be a privilege.â The black-haired beauty didnât wait for another word before walking away from Irvin who just stared at his back until he was out of sight.
Zadkiel made the way straight to his bed, without talking to anyone. He just plopped down on his bed and he had no idea why he was crying. Every bone in his body was sharing the grief. Greif of what? He didnât know.
He thought about Irvinâs wordsâ¦
If I reject you, youâll die in daysâ¦
He didnât know why he was so sad about Irvin rejecting him. He wanted nothing more than to put an end to his pathetic existence but the idea of dying soon wasnât that much pleasuring if it cost the rejection of Irvin and he had no idea why. He could feel the demon inside him whimpering and begging him to not get rejected by Irvin.
He sobbed loudly in the empty hall as his sobs echoed back to him. He had no reason to cry and thatâs what was making him cry more because he was being such a wimpy kid for no reason. He declined Irvinâs offer. It was him who didnât want Irvin. He didnât understand his tears.
âZad- O my god!â He suddenly sat up and wiped his face when he heard Abel who sprinted towards him and in a matter of seconds, was sitting right in his feet, looking up at him.
âDid he do something? Tell me?! Iâll kill that bastard!â Abel asked him, anger coursing through his veins as he saw the condition of his friend.
âNo⦠No. He didnât do anything.â He instantly spoke so Abel wouldnât do anything stupid. He could feel that Irvin had already left because he couldnât smell his scent anymore but Abel could tell Father about it to make things worse and he didnât want it.
âThen why are you crying?â He asked Zadkiel who just shrugged as his eyes poured rain.
âI donât know.â He mumbled. Abel felt so bad for him and sat beside him, pulling him in a side hug.
âHe said, heâd reject me. I told him I donât care but I do. I do care but why do I care?â He knew how much confusing he was sounding by saying all that and he could see that on Abelâs face who looked like he was solving an algebra equation.
âWhat do you mean by heâd reject you?â Abel inquired, he looked like a lost soul. Zadkiel sighed, thinking he didnât even get the first part of what he said, howâd he understand the other and he couldnât just tell him the magical juju story that Irvin had told him.
âNothing. Leave it.â He thought of not sharing anything with Abel at all.
âWell, Iâm letting it go for now because I came here to inform you that Father is calling you.â He told Zadkiel who knew what was waiting for him in Fatherâs office and he was already making up the whole conversation so he could smoothly lie.
