âCaddel, weâve been attacked on the borders. Two soldiers are down.â Uriel was informed in his office by his beta.
âHow do they know about us? No one can see us unless theyâre invited, Alfred.â Uriel questioned, standing up from the chair.
âThey must have been invited in. Weâre tracking their scent to find out who they actually are.â Alfred spoke as they both walked out of the office.
As soon as they were outside the building a massive explosion boomed through the woods, making the ground shake under their feet.
âWTF! What the hell is happening?!â Uriel shouted in panic and everyone started to come out of their houses.
âLet me seeâ¦â Alfred ran away to look at the sight of the explosion. While Uriel connected with every member of his pack through the mind link. He told them all to hurry towards the headquarters.
âDarling, whatâs going on? I heard a blast?â Evangeline asked, walking fast towards Uriel with her swollen belly. Uriel instantly grabbed her hand without uttering a word and took her inside the building.
He dragged her into the office and made her sit on the chair. He kneeled before her and looked up, staring at her eyes.
âPromise me, whatever happens, you wonât walk out of this building unless I ask you to.â Uriel requested, looking at her with so much love.
âNo⦠let me help you.â Evangeline protested.
âI canât risk that. I wonât be losing you only if anything happened. Iâll lose everything. You, my son, my love, my mate⦠everything. Just stay here.â Uriel spoke, standing up. Evangeline didnât protest this time, though she wanted to make clear that nothing would happen to her, the same couldnât be said for her unborn baby. Uriel just kissed her temple before leaving.
âUriel, they are huge in numbers. We were not prepared. Weâre losing our soldiers.â Alfred rushed to him when he saw Uriel coming out of the building.
Uriel looked around and every pack member as they were ordered, were right outside the headquarters. He looked at each personâs face and every face was staring at him and asking the same question⦠âAre we going to be alright, Alpha?â
âWho attacked?â He asked Alfred but his eyes were still looking at the fear in his pack memberâs eyes.
âRabid Shadows pack,â Alfred spoke, making Uriel turn his head towards him in shock.
âWhat do you mean?â He couldnât believe what he was hearing.
âItâs their scent, Alpha.â Alfred sighed.
âWhatâs going on, son?â Uriel heard his fatherâs voice and turned to him.
âDad, we-â He was cut off by a man who seemed like he came running to him.
âAlpha, we were handed this.â The man spoke, handing a scroll to Uriel who instantly opened it to read. His eyes widened when he was reading whatever was written on the paper.
âWhat is it?!â Aziel was too anxious to wait.
âRabid Shadows Packâs Alpha, Edmond Ford says that they have surrounded us and if we didnât leave this place for them in next half an hour, theyâre going to kill every single one of us.â
âWe canât back down! Weâll fight them off.â Alfred was the one to spat in anger.
âWe can do this, son. I donât believe that itâs Edmond whoâs doing this but if he wants a fight, heâs gonna get it.â Aziel was also fuming in anger.
Uriel didnât say anything and looked around the people of his pack who looked scared. Women were hugging their kids to their chests. Men were making a shield around their mates and their kids. Kids were crying. Some women were screaming because of the pain they were going through after their alphaâs death. It looked like everyone knew their end but they were still trying to be the optimist.
âIâll go talk to him,â Uriel spoke, walking towards the border.
âYouâre very stupid to think that heâs interested in listening to you. Heâd kill you and then your pack. I know Edmond. Heâs crazy.â Aziel tried to make his son understand.
âI say, we fight them off.â He continued but then a woman screamed in pain and started crying because she knew what happened. Uriel looked at that woman, who was now hunched over, hugging her pregnant belly and yelping in pain.
Uriel closed his eyes and took a deep breath before making a decision.
âWeâre leaving this place. Weâre handing it over to Rabid Shadows Pack.â Uriel spoke looking up at Aziel.
âWhat? Weâre just running away like cowards?â Alfred protested.
âNo, weâre trying to survive. You want all of these women here to cry like her? You want your mate to cry like her? You want your kid to die in all this? You said yourself that we arenât prepared for this and one by one weâre dying. Iâm not running. Iâm being sensible here. I donât want my pack to be wiped out of existence. We can win our home back but can we bring back the dead, can we?â Uriel looked back and forth between his father and his beta who both nodded in understanding.
âBut where are we going to go?â Alfred questioned.
âFor now, weâll just take temporary residence somewhere in Heartwood forest then weâll think about where weâre going next,â Uriel answered.
âIâm going to ask Edmond to give us some time. You evacuate this area meanwhile.â Uriel spoke before turning into a wolf and running away.

âItâs a boy as it was said in the prophecy. His name is Zerachiel Amos Caddel and he is an omega. A hybrid of a werewolf and an angel. Heâs immortal. The prophecy became true.â West Millar, Edmondâs beta informed him as he was sitting in the office that once belonged to Uriel Caddel.
âI heard that the Luna of the pack was saying that heâd be more powerful than all the alphaâs combined.â He further informed.
âIf this is all true and he is an omega hybrid then I fear what this means for us.â Edmond panicked.
âFirst, I didnât want to believe a prophecy made by some weird witch knowing witches have an old beef with werewolves but now that itâs right before us, I donât know what I should doâ¦â He clasped his hand on the table.
âWe canât even kill him because he is immortal. Nothingâs gonna affect him.â West said, taking a seat across Edmond.
âI know⦠but we must do something. At least something like he canât use his powers against us.â Edmond was desperate at this point.
âWe can contain him⦠like in some spell?â West suggested.
âYou mean take help from a witch?â He frowned.
âYeah⦠I mean itâs easier that way.â West shrugged.
âLet me think about it.â Edmond sighed.
