âCaddel! Our old buddies.â A man between his 50s, almost bald from the front excitedly exclaimed as he opened his arms wide open for a hug from his old pal, standing right before him.
âTook you so long, Atlas.â The other man answered, walking straight into his arms and engulfing him in a hug.
âWe couldnât take the shortcut. A pack from the Appalachians was staying in the way. We didnât want to trespass and be a threat to them.â Atlas replied as he parted.
âWell, words are going around that a peace pact is in its making.â The other man spoke.
âYeah, heard about it. Not sure if itâs true. But we all need some peace in our lives, donât we, Aziel?â Atlas spoke as the two buddies walked side to side towards the house.
âIâm down for some peace man. Since my son has finally found his mate, I want him to start his family in harmony.â Aziel sighed sitting on the couch after Atlas.
âHe found his mate? When? Who?â Atlas frowned.
âHe crossed the paths with her a few weeks ago. She is an angel.â Aziel informed.
âOf course, if she is the mate of your kid, she must be an angel,â Atlas responded because everyone knew about Uriel Caddelâs kind behaviour and soft nature.
âNo, in literal meaning. She is an angel. Like she isnât a werewolf or a human. A literal angel from heavens.â Aziel laughed at his friend who spat out the water he was sipping and looked at him with wide eyes.
âWow! I mean Uriel deserves a person like that as his mate. You do know, the chances of happening something like this are once in a million, right?â Atlas questioned, smiling. He was genuinely happy for Uriel.
âYeah. Guess, my son is precious. Like I always knew.â Aziel answered. âSpeaking of my son, where is yours?â Aziel questioned.
âOh, he, Nora and Irvin stopped by a beautiful river. You know youngsters these days just crave some time alone so they can canoodle. Well, theyâd be here in few hours.â Atlas responded.
âWhat about the mating? Have they mated? Your son?â Atlas questioned.
âNot yet. Sheâs been banished to earth. She was a handful in heaven and earth is her punishment. Poor girl, she had to go through a lot. Uriel wants to wait because she isnât ready yet.â Aziel casually responded.
âGood lad he is, I tell you that,â Atlas replied. âHow good of an Alpha he is?â
âHeâs way too innocent for this world, Atlas. I fear someone would plot his murder before his eyes and he wouldnât even know. Heâs too kind to think of someone in a bad light. He has a pure heart and he sees everyone like it. An Alpha has to have a bit of everything and he only has compassion and love for people.â Aziel showed his concern.
âHeâll learn. Heâs what 26, right? Heâll come around. The world is really a scary place. Itâs gonna teach him everything that he needs to learn to lead a pack. Give him time.â Atlas sighed. âHowâs Ayaan?â
âNaughty as always.â Aziel chuckled. âTell me about Edmond?â
âEdmond is the complete opposite of Uriel, you can say. He craves power and strength. He thinks he can command anyone around. He sees everyone with power as a threat. I donât know whatâs wrong with him.â Atlas was also concerned about his sonâs behaviour.
âI thought the birth of Irvin would change him but it didnât. He became more protective and instead of creating a shield around his son, he is making weapons to protect him. You know that trying to omit something before itâs even a threat, never ends well.â
âI donât know what to say. He scares me sometimes.â Aziel laughed.
A few hours later, they were joined by Edmond, Anne, Irvin, Uriel, Ayaan and Evangeline at the dining table for dinner. Everyone seemed happy and were chattering about the things they did while being away from each other.
Three years old Irvin was talking to his 7 years old friend, who he got to see after months. He was happy to have a friend like Ayaan who was sure older than him but was like a leader in every mischievous act they carried out.
âSo, youâre a literal angel?â Edmond asked Evangeline who really looked like an angel in her white gown, silk-like hair and her pretty smile.
âYes.â She admitted shyly. Uriel placed a hand on her thigh, making her blush more.
âThatâs so cool. I love what you did to this place. Can you do magic?â He further asked.
âNo, but witches are always friendly with angels. I asked them politely and they did it for me.â Evangelineâs voice was also very beautiful. It was like a bird humming a song.
âSo, no human can find this place?â Edmond questioned.
âNo. To humans, this is just a jungle. They will never be able to find it unless a werewolf leads them this way. And not just any werewolf, only a werewolf who is the part of the pack that lives here or the one whoâs been invited here. To every person who is not part of the pack or has been invited here by a member of the pack, canât find us. Weâre safe.â Uriel was the one who answered this time.
âYou mean to say, other packs can also live here? The magic wouldnât wear off if any other pack decides to stay here?â Edmond questioned.
âNo, the spell was put on the place, not the pack. So, anyone can live here.â Uriel explained.
âEven after you and your pack?â Edmond looked at him sharply. Urielâs eyebrows knitted together in confusion. Nora looked at Edmond with a glare in her eyes.
âI mean yeah.â Uriel laughed it off, continuing his meal. Unaware of the smirk that appeared on Edmondâs face.
After dinner, they sat in the lounge and continued their chatter. It was like a whole big family. Nora and Evangeline became sisters in a blink. Uriel and Edmond talked about the different things going around in the pack with a glass filled with brandy in their hands. Irvin and Ayaan were busy watching cartoons while having ice cream. Aziel and Atlas were outside in the garden, stretching their old, rusted legs to use.
âHow does it feel to have a mortal mate? I mean after his death, what is it youâre going to do?â Edmond asked Evangeline, looking at her pointedly. He stated it as if she was going to get another person as her mate after Urielâs death.
âI have powers to make someone immortal but Uriel doesnât want me to use them. I just think immortality doesnât matter. I just want a long happy life with him. I love him and Iâll always love him, even if heâs dead. Do you think that only werewolves have a bond that is unbreakable and only their love is pure? Iâm an angel, Mr Ford. Trust me, in the love department, weâre way deeper than you can ever be. We build connections and bonds on spiritual levels that stay with us for eternity. Itâs not always sexual desire that pulls us towards our soul mates, we connect our souls with our partners. We make two souls, one.â She ended her speech, looking back at Edmond with the same looks that he was giving her.
âWas just saying, lady.â Edmond put his hands in surrender, chuckling. âItâs gonna hurt you more, then,â Edmond mumbled under his breath.
âI may not have all of my powers at this moment but I know my parents wonât stay mad at me for long. Once, I get my powers back, Iâll try to convince Uriel one more time.â Evangeline looked at Uriel in adoration.
âI would love to see how I look when I grow old, so no thank you, maâam.â Uriel laughed.
âWhat do you mean? You wonât grow old as well?â Nora was the one who asked the question, looking at Evangeline.
âNo, I will. It wonât just show on my body. I wonât ever have grey hair. Once we reach, in your year calendar, 25, our bodies just stop ageing at that point. We live eternally young and beautiful.â Evangeline answered.
âAnd I think, Iâd look hot with grey hair so, Iâm good with mortality.â Uriel winked at her. âPlus, you need to see me with grey hair. I mean you should see how I look in different times of my life. Iâm sure youâll fall in love once again.â
âSure, why not. After seeing you grey and old, Iâll make you immortal. Everyoneâs a winner.â She smirked at him.
âAny plans to start a family?â Edmond looked at Uriel.
âNot yet. We still want to spend some time together before devoting our lives to being a parent.â Uriel answered.
âWeâre waiting for the Blue moon. We want love and magic in the air to bring life into the world. It would be born out of pure love and it would be the most beautiful soul to ever walk on earth.â Evangeline spoke, making Uriel startle as well because he didnât even know thatâs what she had on her mind.
âYou two are on the other level of romance.â Nora chuckled.
âExcuse me, I found my mate after eight years of searching. Can you blame me?â Uriel faked an offended expression.
âI hope you get to live long and happy years, together,â Edmond mumbled under his breath.
