âIâm moving in with Sean tomorrow.â Abel tried to change the topic and lighten the mood.
âTomorrow?â
âYeah. Better get on the mission sooner than later.â Abel sighed. Zadkiel nodded, biting his lip.
âIrvin is taking me to a witch today.â He informed Abel who looked at him in shock.
âHe agreed?â
âYeahâ
âHe told me every witch asks for a price and it can be anything. Some ask for money while other demand a massacre.â Zadkiel said after a few moments of silence.
âAre you thinking what Iâm thinking?â Abel narrowed his eyes.
âThat Edmond did the genocide for a witch?â Zadkiel stared at him for confirmation and Abel nodded his head.
âYeah. Thatâs what came to my mind.â
âWhatâs this one asking for?â Abel leaned against the wall of the cave.
âMoney.â After hearing that Abel went into deep thought and his expressions were enough to tell that.
âIrvin said there are two types of witches. Good and bad. Bad ones ask for blood while good ones just ask for money.â Zadkiel put this information out as well.
âI donât think so. I think the price of the magic depends on the magic itself. Like when she cursed you, she demanded a massacre in return as a sacrifice because it was dark magic but now someone is curing you so it doesnât require any sacrifice because itâs not dark magic so, she settled on money. I mean thatâs how they show in movies though.â Abel shrugged. No matter how much Zadkiel tried to deny, Abel had a very solid point.
âWhy is Irvin lying about everything?â Zadkiel let out a frustrated groan.
âThat son of a bitch wants you to stay naïve,â Abel muttered.
âI found something else.â
âWhat?â
âIn Irvinâs office at the headquarters, there is a file. Itâs about Onyx Tails pack. The chair in the office has a tag on behind it which says âA gift to U.C â The Onyx Tails Pack by The Spirit Walker Packâ while Irvinâs pack is Rabid Shadows pack.â
âStrange.â Abel frowned. âDid you see the file? Whatâs in it?â
âI couldnât. Every time, Iâm in his office, he somehow knows and returns early. Iâm sure that someone tells him about my arrival because he even lied when I asked him how he knew I was at the office. Said, Nora told him when I didnât even inform Nora I was going to headquarter.â Zadkielâs pulses rose when he remember all of that and a sudden urge of punching Irvin in the face also developed inside him.
âI swear to god, Iâm confused about what this person actually wants.â Abelâs tone also held hate for Irvin.
âI wish I could tell him that how much I love him but I fear what if my feelings hold no meaning for him,â Zadkiel murmured under his breath.
âDonât tell him until he is clear of all the charges against him.â
âWhat if he is proven guilty?â
âThen you deserve better.â
âItâs not that simple. He is my alpha. Maybe, you can move on from your alpha because youâre a human. Donât forget Iâm a werewolf. The breaking of the bond alone will kill me.â He paused.
âAnd Iâm in love with him.â

âShe lives here?â Zadkiel looked around the mansion as he stepped in through the front gate. Everything in the mansion was so posh and classy.
âYeah. What did you expect?â Irvin chuckled.
âAn old cottage in the middle of the jungle with a broomstick and a plate, bowl, a glass and a spoon. Maybe covered in grown weeds?â He shrugged as he kept walking where Irvin was leading him to.
âGosh, youâre so dramatic.â Irvin laughed.
âThatâs how they show witches den in movies.â Zadkiel took offence at his statement.
âWhat movies are you watching?â The curly-haired guy couldnât contain his laugh.
âI donât know. Every freaking movie.â
âThen you must believe that she has a flying broomstick.â Irvin teased.
âNo. Thatâs always shown in animated movies. But I expected to see candles and skulls and bones and some magic going on in the house.â Zadkiel spoke innocently.
âIâm sorry I disappointed you.â He heard a femaleâs voice. He turned around and there stood a blonde lady in a red tube dress and black six inches silhouettes, looking no more than 20. The only accessory she was wearing was a charm bracelet. And Damn! Was she beautiful!
âHi, my name is Tia.â She made her way gracefully to Zadkiel who had his jaw touching the floor.
âOkay, I didnât expect that at all.â He said in awe. Irvin could only laugh at his expression.
âWhat did you expect, hottie?â She winked at Zadkiel, extending her hand which he shook after recovering from his shocked state.
âIâm Zadkiel.â He introduced himself.
âI didnât know your mate would be so hot, Mr Ford.â She looked at Irvin before eyeing Zadkiel from head to toe.
âWell, I got lucky.â Irvin shrugged, smirking.
âAhem, shall we start?â Zadkiel spoke, trying to change the topic with flushed cheeks.
âSure. Follow me, cutie.â She winked before turning around and walking.
âIs she always this much flirtatious or today is some special occasion?â Zadkiel asked Irvin in a whisper as they both followed her.
âSheâs always this much flirtatious but only with hot guys.â She was the one who answered and then turned around âand hot girls.â Zadkiel chuckled, shaking his head.
âYou never flirted with me. Should I take any offence?â Irvin joked.
âWell, youâre not my type, Ford. Iâm into guys with long lashes, hot body and cute cheeks.â She winked again at Zadkiel who couldnât believe that the person before him was actually a witch. She looked way too lively to be a witch they show in movies.
âI thought she would be wearing a gown and would have like a lot of rings and necklaces and bracelets. I even thought she would have a piece of cloth wrapped around her head.â Zadkiel whispered. This time keeping his voice way too low so she wouldnât listen to him.
âWell, she is a modern-day witch. They evolved.â Irvin chuckled.
âHere we areâ¦!â She exclaimed opening a door.
They both entered the room and it was dark. Only one dim light was lightening the whole place. A sort of metallic stretcher with no mattress type of bed was placed in the middle of the room. Except for the light and the stretcher, the room was pretty empty.
She closed the door behind them and the light coming through the door got blocked, darkening the room more.
âLie down, darling.â She said to Zadkiel as she stood along with the stretcher.
âWhat, you gonna check me like some doctor?â Zadkiel chuckled as he jumped up to sit on the stretcher.
âWhat do you want me to do? Swish my wand and make you better?â She smirked at him.
âI mean yeah.â He shrugged, smiling.
âLie down, Irvin Potter.â She laughed, pushing him down through his forehead.
Once he was flat on the surface, she started unzipping his jacket.
âDid I tell you that Iâm kinda engaged to this man?â He joked, pointing at Irvin.
âDoes it look like I care?â She played along.
âWho would deny a lady like you?â Zadkiel winked at her.
âExcuse me, mind shutting up?â Irvin gave them an unimpressed look. Zadkiel shrugged and shut his mouth. So did Tia.
After unzipping the jacket, she placed her both hands on one another and rested them right above Zadkielâs heart. She closed her eyes and inhaled deeply. She stayed in that state for a while.
âIsnât she gonna read some spells?â Zadkiel asked Irvin.
âShush!â She hit his arm. Irvin laughed as Zadkiel rolled his eyes.
They stayed fixed in their positions for another few minutes but to Zadkiel, it felt like hours. He was getting so bored that he even started yawning. He was already tired of all the walk to the cave with Abel, then practice and then walk back home. He didnât even get the time to go to headquarters as he planned earlier.
Just when he was about to ask how long it was going to take, Tia opened her eyes and pulled back her hands, staring at Irvin with wide eyes. He instantly sat up before he could fall asleep.
âWhat is it?â Irvin asked. His heart was beating so fast. He didnât want to lose another hope.
âHe is cursed.â She informed him. Zadkiel rolled his eyes because if that took this much time for her to just diagnose, he could save it by telling her.
âCursed? What do you mean cursed?â Irvin frowned, making Zadkiel turn his head to him.
If Irvin was acting then he was way too good at it. He could make anyone fool by the way he looked shocked.
âA strong powerful curse by a very powerful and evil witch.â She stated.
âItâs breakable, right? You can break the curse?â Irvin asked, hoping to get a positive answer. He couldnât afford to get another no.
Though, after seeing Irvin in this state, Zadkiel started to think that maybe Irvin didnât know about the curse all along. He knew about everything else but not the curse because something in him, made him want to believe it. He could feel the pain Irvin was going through by just hearing about it.
He grabbed Irvinâs hand and stroked it with a gentle touch to assure him that everything would be fine, but until Tia spoke her next words which made him lose the grip on Irvinâs hand and it slipped out of his hand.
âNo, curses are unbreakable.â
