âWe are mates.â Sean just threw it in there because he knew no revenge would be better than telling Abel about this.
âYeah⦠right fact bud-â Abel casually started but then his eyes snapped open and he shot up, looking at Sean with a horrorstruck face.
âWHAT?!â He spoke so loudly in shock that even Sean flinched.
âYouâre my mate, Mister,â Sean answered nonchalantly, grabbing the bottle of water.
âWant some water to swallow it? I mean purified urine.â He teased. Abel gave him a blank look.
âIf all this is some joke to you, it isnât funny.â He gave him a glare.
âI wish it was but now youâre stuck with me,â Sean smirked.
âDude, thatâs totally your belief. In humans, there are no mates so, no thank you.â Abel spat but this made Sean sit up and wiped off the smirk on his face.
âYou canât reject me,â Sean spoke, totally in horror.
âOh, I ca-â But before Abel could complete this sentence, Zadkiel barged in to save the day. Though he had been listening to the conversation, he acted as if he wasnât eavesdropping this whole time.
âHere.â He gave Abel a sandwich before walking to Sean and handing him his sandwich. He assured the worried Sean that heâd handle the situation by placing a hand on his shoulder before sitting back on the couch with his own sandwich.
There was an awkward silence in the room as the three of them munched on the sandwich, looking down at the marble floor and avoided to look up and meet someoneâs gaze that was until;
âYou wonât believe what happened!â Abel broke the silence, trying to get Zadkielâs attention.
âAfter finding out that werewolves and vampires are real, I donât think Iâll find anything unbelievable,â Zadkiel murmured before lifting his eyes and locked them with Abel, motioning through his hand for him to continue.
âSean just told me heâs my mate like if I would do anything the werewolves want me to do,â Abel said with so much hatred for werewolves that it even shocked Zadkiel.
âAnd you ask why we hate humans. They think they are the greatest creation of God.â Sean said in disgust looking at Abel.
âThatâs because we are!â Abel argued with him, the same level of disgust in his voice.
âShut it, you both!â Zadkiel scolded them, standing up. His sandwich fell on the floor in the process.
âDonât forget that youâre half-human, Sean.â Zadkiel glared at him and was about to turn to Abel when Sean interrupted.
âYeah, but he is fully human and thatâs the most embarrassing thing.â He spoke, rolling his eyes.
âI heard werewolves were humanâs friends. It was vampires who they had a beef with.â Zadkiel raised his eyebrow.
âYeah, we were before they started feeling threatened of us and started hunting us down to remove our existence!â Sean spat.
âOkay, it wasnât Abel who hunt you down so calm down,â Zadkiel spoke and turned to Abel who was sitting on the chair with a pout and huffing every second to show he was angry.
âTypical human behaviour.â Zadkiel sighed, rubbing his temples.
âListen to me, you brainless creature. It wasnât Seanâs idea to be your mate so, donât blame him. Plus if you think youâre superior prove that by showing it through your actions.â Zadkiel scolded him, feeling like he was the mother of two stupid children.
When they returned home, Zadkiel headed straight to his room. He didnât expect the meeting to go the way it went. He thought at least Abel would be understanding but Abel turned out to be the biggest idiot.
He was sitting on his couch thinking about the ways to make Abel understand and think one more time before rejecting Sean because he had a guess how much it would hurt the latter. The thought of getting rejection alone is painful enough to shatter a werewolf into pieces.
He was brought out of his thoughts when the familiar feelings hit him, the scent, the restlessness, the alluring feeling. He quickly concluded that Irvin had arrived and like before, he ran to the bedroom door and locked it from inside.
How he was able to control himself so good?
Well, he was back to using aconite. This time double the dose because he really didnât want to spring on Irvin every time he saw him.
He heard a knock on the door which made him flinch and take a step back. He moved back until the back of his knees bumped into the bed. He plopped down, staring at the door as the knocking didnât stop.
âZadkiel, why are you ignoring me?â He heard Irvinâs speak in such low and vulnerable voice that it was enough to bring tears to his eyes.
âDid I do something?â He again asked. Zadkiel covered his mouth with his hands so his sobs wouldnât come out loud.
âIt hurts, Zadkiel. It really hurts. Donât push me away.â Irvinâs voice cracked, making Zadkielâs heart drop. His sobs muffled against his hands.
âZadkiel, I can smell that youâre in anguish. Donât put us through this. If somethingâs wrong talk it out with me but donât shut me out, please.â Now he could hear Irvin cry and this was the first time he heard him cry. Zadkiel couldnât take it and rushed to open the door.
âIâm sorry. Iâm so sorry. Donât cry please.â He said as soon as he opened the door and his eyes landed on the tear-stained face of Irvin.
âWhy would you do that?â Irvin questioned, staring at him with questioning looks.
âI⦠I⦠Come inside.â Zadkiel dragged Irvin inside pulling his elbow. He closed the door behind him and led Irvin further inside the room.
âWhy are you being so secretive?â Irvin frowned.
âI need to tell you something and then you need to make a decision,â Zadkiel spoke, making Irvin sit on the bed. He walked to the TV and turned it on, increasing the volume so it could die down what he had to say.
âWhat is it? Youâre scaring me.â Irvinâs eyes followed him as he sat before him.
âI can read minds. I can heal people. I can control minds and maybe there are other powers I havenât even discovered yet.â Zadkiel started making Irvin more confused.
âOkay?â He dragged the word.
âYou donât understand. I possess powers that you guys donât. Iâm a threat to your pack. Your father is right.â Zadkiel stated.
âOkay, so you heard the conversation thatâs why youâre behaving like this?â Irvin asked him. TV noise in the background mixing with his.
âYeah because I donât know how to control my powers and they can be a threat at some point for you,â Zadkiel argued.
âCan you make fire with your hands?â Irvin deadpanned at him.
âNo.â Zadkiel blankly stated.
âThen youâre not threatening. Enough discussion.â Irvin ended the conversation but Zadkiel being Zadkiel didnât stop.
âMake a decision right now, Irvin. Iâm more than willing to walk out of your life if you want me to walk out now and save your pack but I wonât let you do it later. I swear Iâm going to kill you if you think of it later.â Zadkiel sternly stated.
âYou done?â Irvin deadpanned.
âYeah⦠I think so.â
âNow shut up and never bring up this conversation. Iâm not leaving you and thatâs final, Mister.â Irvin gave him a stern look but it did the opposite effect. It warmth Zadkielâs heart and brought a smile to his face.
âSure, Alpha,â Zadkiel smirked.
âNow, I want to take you out on a date. Just you and me. Donât invite Abel please and be ready tomorrow.â Irvin suggested. Zadkiel gave a shy nod, chuckling mentally.
