They headed to Irvinâs car parked right before the hospitalâs door. Irvin headed straight to the driver seat, Zadkiel took the passenger while Abel sat in the back. Irvinâs expressions were still stoic. He was just minding his own business, roaring the engine to life. Zadkiel had a lot of questions in his mind and nothing could stop him from asking them.
âWho put a broomstick up your ass?â Zadkiel fired the question. Abel couldnât hold his laugh and burst out but Irvinâs glare through the rear view mirror made him slap his lips together.
âWhatâs gotten into you? Donât glare at my friend.â Zadkiel swatted his bicep. Irvin rolled his eyes.
âIs this because I fucking healed my best friend?â He asked, squinting his eyes at him. Irvin kept driving but didnât answer.
âHe was in pain. I just helped him and Iâm not sorry about it.â Zadkiel scoffed, crossing his arms.
âWhy didnât you do it when you knew he could be out of pain in seconds?â Zadkiel raised his eyebrow at him.
They had reached home and Irvin still hadnât replied to him. Irvin pulled over the car in the driveway of his mansion. He exited the car without answering Zadkiel, walking to the front door and it made Zadkiel angry. Really angry. So, he got off the car, shut the door with a kick and rushed to catch up to Irvin.
âWhatâs so wrong with me healing my friend? Why didnât you do it when you knew you could heal him?!â Zadkiel asked aggressively turning around Irvin.
âBecause I canât do it!â Irvin answered with the same aggressiveness but then calmed himself. âNone of us can. Okay?â
âWhat do you mean you canât? Arenât you a⦠a werewolf?â He stuttered pronouncing that word. It felt weird saying it.
âI am. But werewolves canât heal anyone. In your words, itâs not an approved science for werewolves to heal anyone.â He explained it to Zadkiel.
âI donât want you to tell people about this yet because they may want to throw you out.â He further stated. Zadkiel was staring at him now, with knitted brows.
âAm I not a werewolf?â He didnât know if hope rose in him or he felt bad for not being a werewolf.
âYouâre a werewolf but thereâs something different about you. Though I have no idea what and how.â Irvin said those words without looking at Zadkiel. This made Zadkiel insecure.
âSon! Youâre home!â They heard the voice and turned around to see a bald man standing in the doorframe, ready to welcome them.
âDonât tell him either,â Irvin whispered to Zadkiel before turning around to see where Abel was and he was standing there with his back leaning against the freaking car and was watching the stars.
âAbel! Letâs go.â He shouted. Abel snapped out of the trance of stars and looked at him.
âThe sky here looks so amazing,â Abel commented, grinning at him before he joined both the boys and they headed to the front door.
âIs he your dad?â Zadkiel questioned, whispering.
âUnfortunately,â Irvin answered, making Zadkiel giggle.
âHey, Mr Ford. Iâm Zadkiel.â Zadkiel extended his hand for Edmond when they approached him. Edmond stared at the hand for few seconds and then at Zadkiel before giving him a smile and shook his hand.
âZadkiel? Zadkiel what?â Edmond asked, looking at him sharply. Zadkielâs gaze turned to the floor. He could somehow read Edmondâs mind that he was trying to humiliate Zadkiel.
âI donât kn-â He was mumbling but Irvin didnât let him answer that.
âZadkiel. Just Zadkiel dad. He doesnât need a surname for his introduction.â Irvin spoke sternly. After seeing this, Abel felt so angry that he didnât even think of introducing himself to Irvinâs dad.
They all headed inside and Edmond went back to his room. Abel looked around the white walls of the well-lit mansion and the classy furniture that made it more attractive to an eye while Zadkielâs eyes landed on the lady who was watching them from afar. She waved at Zadkiel and it brought warmth to him. He waved back.
âWho is she?â Zadkiel pointed to her, asking Irvin. Irvin matched his eye line and smiled.
âThatâs my beautiful mother. Nora Ford.â He answered as the lady approached Zadkiel.
âMy sonâs got one hell of a mate. You are very hot, Mr Zadkiel.â She complimented Zadkiel which flushed his cheeks.
âThank you, Mrs Ford. Youâre beautiful yourself.â He complimented back with red cheeks as he tried to keep his eyes focused on everywhere but her.
âHeâs adorable.â She mouthed to her son. Irvin nodded, pulling Zadkiel closer and smiling at his mother.
âIs that one human?â The lady pointed at Abel.
âYeah. Seanâs mate.â Irvin whispered so Abel wouldnât hear. He didnât want to be the one to tell him about it.
âWhere is Sean though?â Zadkiel questioned Irvin.
âHe is really injured. Letâs just hope he makes it.â Irvin answered honestly.
âIs it that serious?â He asked. Irvin nodded. Zadkiel had a lot of things to say but he kept it in his mind but Irvin could tell by his expression that Zadkiel wanted to say something.
âMum, I think I should show them their rooms now,â Irvin told his mother who gave a smile before leaving them.
Irvin called Abel who was now staring at the painting in the room which made perfectly no sense and he was concentrating hard enough so at least he could tell where the head of the lady is but he gave up when he heard Irvinâs voice.
Irvin led Abel to his room which made Abel frown because he thought he was going to share with Zadkiel and he wanted to raise an objection but then shut his mouth when Zadkiel shook his head, secretly to make him understand that of course Irvin and Zadkiel were mates and Irvin would want Zadkiel to be alone so that he could always be with him without disturbing anyone.
âThis is your room. Mine is right next to you.â Irvin informed Zadkiel as they entered the room. Zadkiel without taking a glance at the room turned around and locked the room behind them.
âI can heal him.â He spoke, leaning his back against the locked door.
âWhat are we going to tell the others? How he healed so fast?â Irvin arched his eyebrows. Zadkiel deflated.
âI canât let him die like this. I canât just sit back here and do nothing when I know I can do something.â He murmured sadly, lowering his head. A warm smile appeared on Irvinâs face as he took measured steps towards Zadkiel and stood before him, towering him with his height.
âThe world isnât your responsibility.â He spoke, lifting Zadkielâs chin and meeting his gaze filled with tears.
âBut how am I supposed to have peace when I know I can save a person but Iâm not doing it just so I wonât be kicked out of the society?â He whispered the question to Irvin.
âOkay, you can heal him enough to get him out of the critical condition but not all the way through,â Irvin answered, catching the tears falling from his mateâs eyes before they could roll down. Seeing him so sad was hard for him.
âHow about I heal him all the way and tell him to act like he isnât healed for few days?â Zadkiel innocently asked. Irvin had to control himself physically to not kiss him right there.
âAnything you want.â He couldnât control his mouth though and his eyes made it their job to stare at Zadkielâs pink lips.
Zadkielâs lips curved into a shy smile before he pushed from the door to straighten up. He placed his hand on the left side of Irvinâs chest and gently pushed him back.
âI need to rest.â He spoke before walking past Irvin and sat on the bed. Irvin chuckled before turning around to face Zadkiel who was already sitting on the bed.
âYou need food in your stomach first,â Irvin argued.
âDonât tell me what I need. Iâm very much aware of what I need or want.â Zadkiel smirked at Irvin who couldnât help the smile on his face.
âSo, what do you need, my queen?â Irvin cocked his brows. Zadkielâs cheeks turned pink and he tried to hide them by changing his position on the bed. He sat against the headboard.
âI need you to leave.â He said with a smirk. Irvin didnât expect this reply but still, he didnât mind it. He knew Zadkiel must be tired so he turned around to leave.
âAnd thank you!â Zadkiel shouted before Irvin could leave.
âFor?â Irvin inquired.
âFor not thinking of me as a threat to your pack because Iâm different,â Zadkiel murmured, eyes closed. Irvin didnât answer that question and left. As soon as Irvin left, Zadkiel opened his eyes and stared at the wall before him, thinking about werewolves.

Waking up in the bed that was as soft as the clouds and the sheets of silk, making him feel like he was floating, was not something Zadkiel expected ever in his life. He was born an orphan because as soon as he was born, his parents left him which meant they never wanted him. So, in his life, he never dreamt bigger than he could achieve. Getting out of that orphanage was one of them.
He headed for the bathroom before returning halfway through because he forgot his toiletries. He was about to go and ask Irvin about his bag when his eyes landed on it, sitting at the corner of the room that must have left there by someone.
When he was grabbing the stuff that he needed, his gaze fell on the bottles of aconite and the syringes. He thought about injecting it but then he thought what he had to fear in a place full of werewolves. So, he just left it there and continued with his morning routine.
When done, he exited his room. First, he thought to knock on Irvinâs door to inform him that he was awake but then he decided against it and ran down to Abelâs room and barged in without even knocking. Abel was sitting on the bed, going through the TV channels.
âAre you still a virgin?â That was the first question Abel had to ask his best friend after a night at a stranger place.
âDid you think Iâd whore around on the first day?â Zadkiel chuckled, sitting on the bed beside Abel who turned off the TV.
âYou are you, and you can do anything.â Abel shrugged.
âBro, it all seems surreal. I still feel like Iâm in a dream. Like 5 years old me dreaming about having supernatural powers and a perfect partner for life⦠like itâs all rainbows and sunshine.â Zadkiel spoke, sighing in content.
âPerfect life partner, huh?â Abel smirked at him, nudging him in the stomach.
âShut up,â Zadkiel murmured, blushing.
The knock on the door interrupted them and then a voice followed before they could even ask who it was.
âAbel, is Zadkiel in there with you?â Irvinâs voice boomed through the other side of the door.
âYes,â Abel answered but a playfully teasing smile was on his face.
âTell him that it's breakfast time and you also come,â Irvin spoke. Abel yelled an âokayâ before turning to Zadkiel.
âHe didnât come here to say that. He must have gone to your room. Like first thing, after he woke up but the poor soul couldnât find you there.â Abel said in a playful tone.
âOkay, so what?â Zadkiel deadpanned at him.
âIâm pretty sure that Alpha of the pack doesnât invite the whole house to the breakfast.â Abel shrugged, getting off the bed. Zadkiel rolled his eyes but he was flushed with emotions.
He chose to ignore Abel before getting up to leave for breakfast.
