âDo you even know what youâre doing?â Aiden asked Irvin as he was checking the menu card for his wedding.
âMaking sure the menu has all the items I want,â Irvin answered, still reading the menu. Aiden snatched the card from him and chucked it away.
âYou know what Iâm talking about!â Aiden scoffed at him. Irvin had no mood to dive into that conversation. He had been avoiding it since the day Zadkiel refused to come home with him.
âWhat is your problem, Aiden?â Irvin sighed, rubbing his temple with the forefinger and middle finger.
âYou have to reject your mate to bond with Vanessa. You do know that right?â Aiden reminded him. Irvin huffed.
âOf course, I know that. Iâm the alpha of the pack. You think I wouldnât know something as simple as that?â Irvin had his voice low but stern. He was worn out, having the same conversation with his beta exhausted him.
âAn omega dies if an alpha rejects him. How can you do this to your mate? To anyone?â Aiden knew Irvin was more empathetic than that.
âHe doesnât want to be my mate and the pack needs a Luna. You know that. We have to go to the Appalachians next week. When Iâm not here, only Luna can handle the pack.â Irvin faced away from Aiden to hide how much he was hurt.
âSo, youâre gonna just leave him? Irvin, youâre alpha. You can talk some sense into him. Tell him what heâs doing to himself is only gonna end up in his own death.â Aiden walked around Irvin to stand face to face with him.
âDonât reject him.â Aiden pleaded. âThe bond made by moon goddess is sure breakable but itâs not forgettable. After all, itâs the strongest bond.â He tried to make his alpha understand the delicacy of the subject.
âYou think I donât know that?â Irvin huffed. âHe doesnât want to be with me. What am I supposed to do? Kidnap him and mate with him?!â He was now angry.
âLet the beasts talk then,â Aiden suggested. Irvinâs expressions relaxed. He thought why he didnât think of it before.
âIf you canât convince him, maybe he can convince her,â Aiden stated. Irvin gave it a thought for a while.
âBut he has never turned.â Irvin furrowed.
âDoesnât matter. She is still inside him. Talk to her. She must be whimpering for you.â Aiden gave a light pat on his shoulder.
âWhat about Vanessa?â Irvin arched his brow. Aiden sighed, retreating his hand.
âYou havenât bonded with her yet. Weâll let her know you found your mate.â Aiden as always suggested the best solution.
âLast time, he was ready to come with me but I have no idea what changed his mind and he refused when I asked him in front of Mr Joseph,â Irvin informed Aiden. He still hadnât talked to anyone about the incident that happened a few weeks ago. He just came back and told his father that he didnât want Zadkiel as his mate and he was ready to bond with someone else.
âThat Joseph guy doesnât look like a very nice guy to me. I donât know what your dad saw in him to trust him. I just saw his picture and I was like âis this dude really runs an orphanage?â He looks like a mafia guy who has done some pretty dirty shit like smuggled drugs and killed children with his bare hands.â Aiden ended with a bright smile. Irvin gave him a blank stare.
âYou mean to say, ask him when Joseph isnât around.â He deadpanned at his friend.
âExactly.â Aiden winked at him.
âCouldnât you word it better?â He scoffed. Aiden shrugged, smiling.
âOkay, Iâm going right away. Tell Sean to meet me by my car.â Irvin ordered as he was about to leave.
âWhy Sean? Why not me?â Aiden scowled. Irvin grabbed him by his shoulders.
âDude, I trust you more than him. I know you can handle things better here.â Irvin spoke looking right into his eyes.
âAnd you arenât saying this just to make me feel good, are you?â Aiden narrowed his eyes, giving him a suspicious look.
âAbsolutely not.â Irvin held back his laugh which made Aiden swat away his hands from his shoulders.
âFucker!â He muttered leaving Irvin on his own. Irvin just laughed it off, not seeing the need to fire back a comment.
Irvin had a reason for taking Sean with him. Sean was Irvinâs other childhood friend and a gamma. He knew how to manipulate people into agreeing with him. Being the general of the pack teaches you tactics. So, he thought of using that power of Sean on Mr Mark Joseph.
Irvin had made his mind. If Zadkiel agrees today then heâd do anything to bring him here even if it took few days but if Zadkiel didnât want to be with him, heâd just reject him right there as his mate. He had bigger problems to think about being the alpha of the pack, other than worrying about his mate. He was ready to give this sacrifice for his pack if it came to that because thatâs what theyâve always been told.
The pack comes first!
