âLetâs watch Titanic.â Aaron offered to the boys who were sitting in the lounge doing absolutely nothing. Their age ranged from 15 to 22 and was very close because everyone shared the same grief. No parents.
âAnd cry like idiots?â Abel rolled his eyes at the suggestion.
âDude be a little more sensitive. People died.â Zadkiel scolded him as he was clutching his stomach. He had increased the quantity of aconite to control himself in his heat. It was day 9th of his heat. Of course, aconite never helped in reducing the pain but it kept his demon side under control and that way Zadkiel didnât find an urge to call Irvin.
âOkay⦠letâs watch it.â Abel approved. Most of the other guys were still opposing the idea because they wanted to watch âTerminatorâ
âWhy we always watch âTitanicâ when Iâm in heat?â Zadkiel mumbled to himself but didnât take part in the protest.
Finally, Titanic won and they put the CD in the player. Zadkiel was not even slightly interested in the movie but he kept looking at Leo and thought that somehow there was a resemblance between Irvin and him. He knew if he voiced his thoughts heâd be called mad but lately, he had been seeing Irvinâs face in everything. Maybe it was just his heat.
âHey, you seem very interested in the movie.â Abel taunted when he saw Zadkiel zoned out. Zadkielâs lips curved up and he turned to Abel.
âDo you think he has rejected me by now?â Zadkiel voiced his fear. Abel looked at him as if he had gone mad.
âRejected you?â He arched his eyebrow. Zadkiel leaned back on the bean bag, almost lying on it and thought about telling Abel what Irvin had told him.
âCâmon!â He stood up and extended his hand for Abel.
âBut Titanic?â Abel looked at the screen, the movie was playing.
âIt hit a berg, sunk, resting more than 12000ft. down in the middle of North Atlantic. 705 managed to survive. 1500 people went down with the ship. Jack died and Rose survived because she was resting on a plank of wood and contrary to the popular belief that jack couldâve survived with Rose on the plank, it wasnât the question if there was enough room for Jack on the plank or not, it was the question of how much weight the plank could hold to stay afloat. In the end, she died like the way Jack predicted because somehow Jack was psychic and she met Jack at the clock in Titanic filled with people who died in the incident.â Zadkiel explained.
âSummed it up for you.â He gave his best friend a smile. Abel gave him a blank stare.
âI hate you.â Abel chuckled and grabbed Zadkielâs hand who pulled him up.
âWhere are you two boyfriends going?â Aaron asked as they both blocked his view for a second when they were walking to the door.
âTo make out,â Zadkiel answered him and showed him the naughty finger before dragging Abel out of the room.
They both made their way out to the front yard and settled themselves under the sky covered with glinting lights. Zadkiel took a deep breath before opening his mouth to tell Abel whatever Irvin had told him though he knew heâd sound crazy.
âWhat Iâm going to tell you is⦠uh⦠is not something you have heard before.â Zadkiel hesitated.
âJust speak already. Iâm curious.â Abel stated.
âFirst Iâm going to tell you about myself and then Iâll tell you what Irvin told meâ¦â Zadkiel nervously stated.
âJust say it already.â Abel gave him a look of excitement. Zadkiel whacked his head for being such an insensitive jerk.
âOkay⦠take your time.â Abel rolled his eyes and laid down on the grass.
âI⦠I⦠I have super abilities.â Zadkiel stated, fiddling with his fingers and looking at his hands. Abel sat up.
âLike?â He questioned. Zadkiel was surprised that Abel didnât laugh at him.
âI can hear, see, and smell from a great distance. I have super reflexes and Iâm super strong. I can run fast without getting tired and I can see things very much clear in pitch-black darkness. All my senses are enhanced. In short, super strength, super agility and super healing power.â Zadkiel explained, feeling more confident as he saw Abel invested in the conversation without making Zadkiel feel like he had gone crazy.
âWow! Man, thatâs super cool!â Abel said in awe. His eyes were sparkling with a glint of excitement. Abel knew about super strength and he believed his friend so much that if he said that the moon is bigger than the sun, Abel wouldâve believed it.
âShow me!â He asked Zadkiel who rolled his eyes.
âI can tell you what scene of Titanic is playing right now.â Zadkiel put on a smug face. Abel squinted his eyes.
âOkay?â
âJack just said âwith all due respect miss, Iâm not the one hanging off the back of the ship here.â Zadkiel winked at his best friend.
âThatâs crazy, man!â Abel chuckled in shock. âWait, so that means youâre a superhuman or something?â He questioned. Zadkiel was so glad to see that his friend didnât even feel the need to authenticate of what Zadkiel said was true or not.
âI donât know what I am but Iâm just different. The funny thing is, I feel like I have two personalities because I can hear the thoughts of the âsuperhuman part of meâ inside my mind.â Zadkiel explained in what his opinion was the craziest thing one person could hear.
âSo, Irvin knows about this? You told him before me?â Abel gave him a sharp look.
âThatâs the thing. I didnât tell him. He is same as me and he sensed it.â Zadkiel explained.
âHow? Can you sense it in others?â Abel asked.
âNo, but I could sense his presence. It was a pull towards him. I could smell him and it was intoxicating and inviting. But I thought he was just another human. I didnât think he was like me.â He looked at his hands and thought of growing his nails but he couldnât. He wondered how Irvin did it so easily.
âAnother human⦠thanks, bro.â Abel joked. Zadkiel chuckled and murmured âno offenceâ
âIrvin said Iâm half-human. He didnât tell what my other half is called though.â Zadkiel laughed.
âSo, you were born like this or something happened to you that made you like this. Like they show in movies? Some gamma radiations or lost in quantum realm?â Abel curiously asked scooting closer to Zadkiel.
âI was born like this.â Zadkiel stated âIâve been taking aconite to control myself. It burns like a bitch but it keeps my wild side controlled. Father told me about it.â Zadkiel told him.
âFather knows?â He asked eyes opened wide.
âYeah.â Zadkiel sighed. âBut thatâs not why I called you here. Irvin told me something. Itâs totally unbelievable but somehow I think he wasnât just bluffing.â He added.
âDid he say youâre some type of demigod or something?â Abel said. Zadkiel looked at him, waiting for a smile to break through but Abel was dead serious which made Zadkiel question his intellect.
âHe said Iâm his mate,â Zadkiel stated, still holding that blank stare.
âYou go tell that son of a bitch that youâre my mate!â Abel snapped which made Zadkiel think that he was serious about this too but the smile that followed, relaxed his nerves.
âI thought you were seriousâ¦â Zadkiel exhaled and dramatically wiped off the sweat from his forehead.
âWell, what did he mean by you being his mate?â Abel asked him but before Zadkiel could answer that question, a voice of a lady boomed through the yard.
âYou two! Come inside.â The lady spoke which Zadkiel and Abel recognized as Sister Mary.
âComing!â Zadkiel shouted so she could hear him properly. She left after hearing him.
Zadkiel rose to his feet and looked down at Abel who was still in deep thoughts. He grabbed his collar and pulled him up on his feet, now standing side to side.
âWanna race to the door?â Zadkiel said in a tone that definitely screamed that he was challenging Abel to beat his superhuman ass.
âHa! Funny!â Abel scoffed and started walking towards the door but then he felt a sudden rush of wind to his right side. He looked back and Zadkiel wasnât there. He heard a whistle and Zadkielâs voice after that. âHere, buddy!â
He turned around his head and saw Zadkiel already standing in the doorframe. He rolled his eyes at Zadkielâs vanity and kept walking.
âYou humans are too slow, bro!â Zadkiel shouted, a smirk plastered on his face. Abel didnât respond and kept his pace normal. When he was two steps away from Zadkiel, he gave a blow to Zadkielâs stomach.
âWe still know how to punch a demigod!â Abel commented, pushing past him. Zadkiel laughed.
âThat hurt!â He huffed but was still laughing.
âAww! Didnât you say you have super healing power?â He mocked Zadkiel who was still hunched over.
âOkay I wonât make fun of humans now. Promise.â Zadkiel teased him.
âYou better not if you donât wanna take another blow to your guts!â He scoffed before throwing an arm around Zadkielâs shoulder and walked back to the lounge to continue watching the movie.
