Madelyn watched Malcolm refusing to speak, and her heart was in a knot.

So, she tried a different approach. “Malcolm, you’re with Sebastian every day, you must know what’s going on. Please, could you just tell me?”

Upon hearing this, Madelyn was displeased. “Malcolm, what are you implying? If I knew what I did wrong, why would I ask you?

Enough, just spit it out, or I’ll really get mad.”

In the end, Malcolm decided to play dumb, not uttering a single word.

Upon hearing these words, Madelyn was utterly bewildered. She questioned herself, how had she not adhered to the traditional role of a woman? How had she lost her composure? And how had she failed to maintain a proper distance?

Malcolm continued, “Okay, let’s say you genuinely dislike Mr. Lockhart. However, you shouldn’t be openly flirting with other men in broad daylight! Isn’t this akin to publicly making a fool out of Mr. Lockhart? He must have a good temper to have held back his anger and not said anything. But Mrs. Lockhart, if my girlfriend were to make a fool out of me like this, I would have broken up with her a long time ago! I’ve been with Mr. Lockhart for quite some time now, and I’ve come to understand his character, if not completely, then at least in part. He has always been a man of few emotions, yet, for some reason, he has taken a liking to you!

But you? Mrs. Lockhart, not only do you fail to appreciate this, but you also repeatedly act recklessly, doing everything in your power to hurt him... Sigh, I truly feel that it’s such a waste for Mr. Lockhart.”

After Malcolm finished speaking in one breath, he felt a great deal of relief.

All along, he had been sympathizing with Sebastian, feeling that Sebastian being with Madelyn was simply demeaning himself.

Madelyn was truly quite tempestuous, always stirring up trouble at the slightest provocation.

There were countless ladies of high society outside, and Sebastian could easily pick one, and any one of them would have a much better temperament than Madelyn.

Indeed, Madelyn was beautiful. But even the most beautiful things could be dangerous, like a rose with thorns. The more you admired her, the more likely you were to get hurt.

However, Sebastian only had eyes for Madelyn. As a man, Malcolm found himself at a loss at Sebastian’s stubbornness.
