Chapter 46

Nayeon just woke up from her short nap in the hospital. The first thing she did was check her phone to see what time it is. It's 5am and Sana is still not out of surgery. Nayeon is now even more worried. Why is it taking so freaking long? Since she has been inside for quite some time she decided to go outside to get some fresh air.

After getting some fresh air she got back into the hospital and the only ones she could see were Dahyun, Jihyo and Y/N. Jeongyeon and Jimin aren't around so Nayeon guesses they probably left. The teacher saw how Y/N was sleeping very uncomfortably. Her neck will probably hurt if she continues sleeping like that, so Nayeon sat down next to Y/N and made sure to lean Y/N's head on her shoulder so that she's more comfortable. Jeongyeon saw Nayeon's actions from afar. She can really see how much the two care for each other. She hates it, but she has accepted it.

After about half an hour Y/N woke up and she was surprised to see Nayeon next to her.

"Oh Y/N you're awake."

"How did I end up sleeping on your shoulder?" Y/N really doesn't remember sleeping on Nayeon's shoulder.

"Guys, I'm going to get some food from the cafeteria. Do you want some as well?" Jihyo asked.

"I'll join you." Nayeon stood up and with that the two left.

"She's still not out?" Y/N asked Dahyun who has been awake for some time now.

"No." Dahyun sighed. She's on the verge of tears again.

"We should probably let the girls know as well." Y/N suggested.

"Yeah, I'll call them in a bit." Dahyun answered and the two older girls came back with some food.

"Here eat something." Nayeon handed Y/N a sandwich.

"No, thanks. I have no appetite." Y/N rubbed her eyes. She's fucking tired.

"Y/N please eat. You haven't eaten for a while."

"I'll eat if you eat." Yes Y/N hasn't eaten for a while but Nayeon hasn't either.

"Fine." The teacher sat down next to her and took a bite of the sandwich. After she took a bite she fed Y/N as well. She knows Y/N won't eat it herself so she has to feed her. Jihyo just smiled upon seeing the two, they're so cute.

"Are you Sana Minatozaki's friends?" A doctor came out of the room and everyone immediately approached him.

"Yes. Is she okay?" Nayeon asked.

"Does she have any family members?" The man asked, but no one could really answer because Sana has never talked about her family before. They don't know a single thing about Sana's family.

"No. We're the closest people to her." Y/N answered. She's the only one who knows about Sana's family.

"Okay, then I'll just tell you. The surgery took very long since she was losing a lot of blood and we had a hard time stopping it but we managed to save her. The surgery was a success." He explained and they all sighed in relief.

"C-can we see her?" Dahyun asked, her heart was about to stop the moment the doctor came out of the room.

"Not yet. She needs to rest, but you can see her through the window. One at a time."

"Dahyun-ah, you go." Y/N said. Dahyun is the one who needs to see Sana the most right now.

"What did he say?" Jeongyeon came back. She was outside for a bit and missed whatever the doctor said.

"They saved her, Jeongyeon." Jihyo smiled.

"Oh thank God." Ms. Yoo sighed in relief.

"This means she's okay right? She survived right?" Nayeon still can't believe it.

"Yeah, she did it unnie. She survived. I told you she would didn't I?" Y/N smiled. She's very relieved right now.

"Thank you, Y/N." Nayeon hugged Y/N tightly and Y/N hugged her back by putting her arms around Nayeon's waist. They pulled back when they heard some people running towards them. It's Tzuyu, Mina, Momo and Chaeyoung. They all came immediately when Dahyun called them.

"By the looks on your faces, I'm guessing she's okay?" Chaeyoung asked.

"Yes. She's okay, she survived."

"Oh thank God." Momo exclaimed.

"I can't believe you guys didn't call us earlier." Tzuyu shook her head. What if she hadn't survived?

"It didn't even cross our minds, Tzuyu-ah. Things were pretty hectic around here." Jihyo caressed Tzuyu's arm. And right at that moment Dahyun came back with tears in her eyes.

"Unnie, are you okay?" Chaeyoung asked and Dahyun nodded.

"How is she?" Y/N asked.

"She looks horrible. Who the fuck would do this to her?" Even though Dahyun couldn't go inside, it was already a huge thing that she could see her from afar. But unfortunately she doesn't look very good. Dahyun has many questions right now. She's been having them ever since yesterday. First of all who is that Jimin guy and how does he know Sana? Jihyo said he's one of their friends, but Sana never mentioned him. He also kept talking with Y/N secretly like they were hiding something. Also who would just shoot Sana like that? It all doesn't make sense. She has questions and she knows Y/N has the answers.

"You know something don't you, Y/N? You know who did this to her and you know what happened, right?"

"Dahyun-ah..." Jihyo tried to calm her down but failed.

"Why do I feel like you know something as well? And you too." Dahyun said looking at Jihyo and Nayeon. The other girls are confused. What's going on?

"Tell her." Y/N demanded.

"Tell me what?" Dahyun is really losing her mind right now.

"Sana got shot by a gangster." Jihyo revealed.

"Are you joking? Why would a gangster shoot her?" Why would Sana even be involved with gangsters?

"Because... she's a gangster as well. That guy was from another gang and I'm guessing they're enemies."

"Unnie this isn't funny. Sana can't be a gangster." Dahyun really can't believe this.

"Y/N is this true?"

"Yes, it is." Y/N revealed and everyone raised their eyebrows, except for the ones who already knew. This is not something that anyone would have guessed.

"You're lying. You're fucking lying!" Dahyun started yelling. Normally she wouldn't believe this, but Sana has been acting very weird lately. She disappears a lot and Dahyun knows that she's hiding something. Dahyun had never even heard the word gangster until Y/N told her about her dad. Since Sana and Y/N have some history together, it wouldn't be that much of a surprise if Sana is also involved with gangsters.

"Dahyun-ah, please come with me. I'll explain everything to you." Jihyo held the student's shoulders and she managed to take her outside. It's time to tell her everything about Sana's gangster life.

"What the hell was that?" Mina asked.

"How can she be a gangster?" Momo doesn't understand either.

"If all three of you knew, why didn't you stop her? Especially you Y/N, since you hate gangsters and all." Chaeyoung asked.

"Do you think I didn't try to stop her? The reason why we broke up was because I found out that she was a gangster in the first place. I tried stopping her many times, but she won't listen." Y/N shook her head.

"Y/N, where is her family?" Nayeon asked. Nayeon has known Sana for years but the girl was always secretive about her family.

"Sana unnie is an only child and she grew up in a gangster family just like I did. Both her parents were gangsters. Her dad was actually a very known one, almost on the same level as my dad. But unfortunately a few years ago he got killed by another gang." Y/N revealed. Nayeon is shocked. If this happened a few years ago, then it means it happened when they were in college. Sana didn't even tell her friends that her father passed away nor did it look like Sana was having a hard time.

"Where's her mom?" Tzuyu asked.

"She's hiding. Ever since they killed Mr. Minatozaki they've been looking for her to kill her as well. So she's hiding, no one really knows where, except for Sana and some gang members."

"Is this why she's a gangster? Because of her family?" Mina asked.

"Yes. The last thing Sana unnie's dad said to her before he passed away was that she should get revenge and that she should be a gangster just like him. That's why no one, literally no one, can stop her.  According to Jimin oppa the guy that shot Sana unnie is related to the killer of Mr. Minatozaki." All this new information is really messing with everyone's head. It's too much to take in. They always thought that Sana was just a bright and positive teacher, but turns out she's leading a whole other life after school hours.

"You should've talked to Dahyun instead of Jihyo." Nayeon said. Y/N knows everything about Sana, it would've made more sense if she was the one that told her everything.

"I think Jihyo can handle it." Y/N just doesn't know how to tell something like this to Dahyun. She's also scared that Dahyun is going to blame her for everything.

Jihyo and Dahyun are outside of the hospital sitting on a bench. Jihyo just told her everything that she knows about Sana's double life and for Dahyun, it's a lot to take in.

"I can't believe she hid something like this from me." Dahyun cried. They've been dating for about six months and Sana never ever told her something about this. Dahyun feels like their entire relationship was just one whole lie.

"She did it to protect you, Dahyun-ah. She didn't want you to get involved with it."

"How is lying to me good for my own safety?? The worst thing of all is that she's part of Y/N's fucking gang. Is that how they met? Is that why they dated?"

"No. Y/N didn't even know that Sana was in the gang when they were dating. Y/N broke up with her when she found out about it. Apparently Y/N's dad send Sana to Y/N to spy on her."

"Why do you know all of this? Why did they tell you but not me? Nayeon unnie knows it probably as well right?"

"Yeah, she knows too but believe me no one told us. We found out ourselves." Jihyo sighed.

"I don't even know what to think right now. The girl that I'm in love with is a fucking gangster who hurts people. She probably doesn't even love me." Dahyun feels like she fell in love with someone she barely knows at all.

"No, Dahyun-ie, don't question her love for you. She loves you a lot believe me."

"If she loves me then why did she lie to me? I asked her if there was anything else that she needs to tell me after I found out about her and Y/N and she told me there wasn't. She even promised me that there wasn't!" The student started crying heavily and Jihyo immediately hugged her.

"I really want to confront her right now." Dahyun said in between sniffs.

"Don't do it immediately, okay? Wait at least a couple of days after she wakes up. She'll still be weak and it might be bad for her health if the first thing you guys do after she wakes up is fight"

"Am I just supposed to act like I don't know?"

"Yeah, at least until she's fully awake." Jihyo suggested and Dahyun nodded. It probably isn't that smart to confront Sana the second she wakes up. She won't have the energy to explain herself.

Y/N just came out of Sana's room and saw that no one was around anymore. Since Sana is still weak and hasn't woken up completely, the doctors wouldn't let Y/N enter her room. She had to watch Sana from the window, which was good enough for Y/N. She just needs to know that Sana is okay. That's all that matters.

Y/N looked around to see if someone is still there but she couldn't see anyone so she decided to go outside for a bit to get some fresh air. When she got outside she saw Nayeon smoking a bit further from the entrance. It really bothers Y/N that Nayeon smokes, but who is she to say something about that? It isn't like Y/N never smoked in her life. She used to do it a lot when she lived in the gangster neighbourhood just so she could fit in. She had nowhere else to go so she had no choice but to try and fit in. It isn't just cigarettes that she smoked, she also had to try different kinds of drugs. So she doesn't really have the right to tell Nayeon to do otherwise.

"Unnie?" Y/N approached Nayeon and Nayeon got startled. She tried to hide her cigarette but again Y/N already saw it. Nayeon isn't stupid she could tell by Y/N's expression the other day that the younger girl is bothered by it, even if she doesn't admit it.

"Oh Y/N. Did you see Sana?"

"Ah yeah, I did. But where's everyone? Did they all leave?" Y/N asked.

"Jihyo went home to get some rest. I think Dahyun is still freaking out about what she found out and the others have classes so they went to school."

"Why didn't you go home? You also need to take some rest. Don't worry about Sana unnie, I'm here." Y/N suggested.

"It's okay, Y/N. I'm not tired, besides I don't think I'll be able to rest knowing that Sana still isn't awake."

"Yeah, I get what you mean." Y/N answered and then suddenly laughed which made Nayeon confused.

"You keep hiding that cigarette. I already told you that it's okay to smoke beside me."

"I just feel uncomfortable doing it when you're around." Nayeon admitted.

"Why? Do I make you uncomfortable?" Y/N didn't mean to make her uncomfortable like that.

"No, no, it's not you. It's just I know you're bothered by it."

"Why would I be bothered by it? You can do whatever you want and if this is what you want then you can do it." Y/N tried to protest.

"You know I like how you've changed and all but I do wish you were still boldly honest like before." Even though Y/N was a bit too honest in the past, she prefers that over Y/N hiding her thoughts.

"Being boldly honest got me in trouble many times, unnie. So I still think it's better like this."

"At least be honest with me. Just tell me the truth. Does it bother you? Yes or no." Nayeon said the last sentence cutely, melting Y/N's heart.

"Yes." Y/N chuckled.

"I knew it." Nayeon laughed. She knows Y/N too well.

"Yah, don't you ever lie to me again. Even if it's a white lie." Nayeon hit Y/N's arm and Y/N just laughed it off. She's glad that they can joke around like this again.

"Yah, unnie. When are you gonna..." Y/N was about to ask her ex-teacher when she's gonna stop hitting her but instead of finishing her question she froze at the sight of something that she doesn't want to see.

"Y/N?" Nayeon saw how the look on Y/N's face immediately changed. The younger girl was looking at something that was behind Nayeon, so the teacher turned her head to see what made Y/N freeze like that. There she saw Taehyung with a middle aged man. Nayeon could already guess that this man is Y/N's father. He definitely looks like a dangerous man and Y/N resembles him a lot actually.

"Y/N..." The man said weakly when they got closer to the two girls. Y/N is still shocked upon seeing the man so she just kept silent. She can already feel her anger starting to boil.

"Why are you here?" Y/N clenched her fist. This is the moment that she has been scared of. If there is one person that can make Y/N lose herself, it's her dad.

"I'm here to see how Sana is doing." He lied. He doesn't really care about Sana. He's here because he knows that Y/N would be here as well. Nayeon saw how tightly Y/N is clenching her fist to the point that it became red. The longer this man stands in front of them the harder it is for Y/N to control herself. She's starting to tremble because she's having a hard time to control herself. If this had happened two years ago she already would have hit the man or maybe even killed him. But not today. She won't lower herself to his level and especially not in front of her ex-girlfriend.

"Y/N..." Nayeon whispered and held Y/N's wrist to calm her down. It's something that always helped Y/N even if it's just in the slightest bit.

"She's okay. You should go. You have no business here." Y/N looked away. She can't look at him.

"Y/N I just want to talk to you." He tried to come closer but Y/N stopped him by gesturing with her hand.

"Don't. Don't come closer. I have nothing to say to you. So please just leave."

"Did you read the letters I wrote you?"

"No, I burned them. I have no reason to read them." Y/N clenched her teeth. She feels like she could pass out any moment.

"Y/N I really just want to talk to you. Please give me a chance." He pleaded.

"No! Get the fuck away from me, I have nothing to say to you! Please just leave! Please..." Y/N started yelling. This man is really pushing her buttons right now.

"Hyung you should leave. I'll see how Sana is doing." Taehyung suggested. He knows that if they stay here a minute longer, Y/N will cause a scene.

"Okay. I'll leave if that's what you want. But I'm not giving up Y/N. I'm not leaving you alone until the two of us speak." He assured and with that he walked away.

"Y/N are you okay?" Nayeon asked but instead of answering her question Y/N collapsed and fell on the floor.

"Y/N!" Nayeon held the girl as she fell down.

"I'll get help." Taehyung said and ran into the hospital to look for some help.

"Y/N? Please answer me." Nayeon shook Y/N's shoulders but the girl isn't answering. Instead she's trembling. Luckily some people came from the hospital and they took Y/N in.

"Why the fuck did you bring him here? You knew how Y/N was going to react." Nayeon asked Taehyung.

"I couldn't stop him, Nayeon-ssi. Whatever we do, we can't stop him. He's going to show up a lot from now on, believe me." Taehyung sighed.

"This isn't good. She was trying so hard to control herself that she fainted."

"I'm surprised she managed to do it to be honest. I was already getting myself ready to stop her from killing him." Taehyung admitted.

"Are you Choi Y/N's friends?" A doctor came out of Y/N's room and they both nodded.

"She's okay. Nothing to worry about. She needs to rest though, it seems like she's very tired and I think she has been stressing herself out a lot lately. The reason why she collapsed is due to the lack of oxygen but she's breathing okay now." The doctor explained.

"Okay thank you so much doctor." Nayeon bowed and so did Taehyung.

Nayeon has been beside Y/N's bed for about two hours now, but the younger girl is still sleeping. As if it wasn't enough that Sana is on a hospital bed, Y/N is now on one as well. Nayeon is really going to lose her mind by everything that's been happening lately.

"Is she awake already?" Tiffany asked as she entered. Nayeon decided to call her to let her know about Y/N and the woman immediately came.

"No. Not yet."

"Here's some coffee, Nayeon-ssi." Tiffany handed her some coffee.

"Thank you."

"You can go home if you want. You look really tired."

"I'm not going anywhere until Y/N wakes up." Nayeon shook her head and right at that moment Y/N groaned indicating that she woke up.

"Y/N?" Nayeon approached her.

"What happened?" The younger girl asked as she rubbed her eyes. She feels very weak and she has no energy to even move.

"You fainted."

"I did? How long was I asleep?" Y/N groaned as she tried to move.

"About two hours." Nayeon answered.

"I feel like shit."

"You fucking scared me!" Nayeon yelled and hit Y/N's arm.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you." Y/N apologised.

"The doctor said that you need to rest. Didn't I tell you not to hold in your anger like that?" Tiffany asked. Nayeon told her everything that happened with Y/N's dad and Tiffany immediately understood why Y/N fainted like that.

"I just woke up and you're already scolding me?" Y/N joked.

"What else am I supposed to do? I told you many times that the things you do to control your anger are bad for your health."

"But it's working isn't it?" Y/N raised her eyebrows.

"Y/N you're on a hospital bed. How is it working?"

"Wait, wait. What things are you guys talking about?" Nayeon is confused.

"When Y/N is angry she stops breathing so that she can distract herself from what she's feeling inside. That's why she fainted." The older woman explained.

"Oh, the doctor did say that she fainted due to lack of oxygen." Now Nayeon understands why it happened.

"Yeah, it isn't the first time. She always does it, but it's bad for her health."

"Y/N, you shouldn't hold it all in like that." Nayeon suggested.

"I don't understand what you guys want from me. Both of you kept telling me that I have anger issues and that I should learn to control myself but now that I can control myself you're telling me not to hold it all in? It doesn't make any sense."

"We want you to find the in between, Y/N. We want you to do it in a healthy way. Holding in your breath like that is bad for your health and you can get a heart attack from everything that you're holding in. We would rather see you show your anger instead of  seeing you faint." Nayeon explained.

"I know it's bad unnie. I'm still working on it." Y/N knows that she still can't control herself very well, that's why she doesn't agree with people when they say that she has improved a lot. Y/N's goal is to be able to control herself without doing anything.

"What are you doing?" Tiffany asked when Y/N tried to stand up from the bed.

"I'm leaving." Y/N said.

"You need to rest, Y/N." Nayeon advised.

"There's no way I'm resting on a hospital bed. I'm not sick nor dead." Y/N just feels uncomfortable on a hospital bed. It reminds her of death and death reminds her of her mother.

"Okay, then we'll go home and you'll rest there." Tiffany said.

"But..." Y/N was about to protest but the woman interrupted her.

"No buts we're going home."

"Yeah you should go rest a bit Y/N. We've been in the hospital for a pretty long time." Nayeon informed.

"What about Sana unnie?"

"She's still not awake but don't worry Dahyun, Momo and Mina are beside her."

"Fine, I'll go home. But you should go home as well. You look tired." Y/N wanted to protest again but she knows there's no way she'll win against Nayeon and Tiffany. It's already hard to deal with one of them, let alone two.

"I'll go as well after I see how Dahyun's been doing." The older girl assured and with that Tiffany and Y/N left the hospital.

Just like how Nayeon said she would, she went to see how Dahyun is doing. She really understands how Dahyun is feeling right now.

"Can I come in?" Nayeon asked when she knocked on the door of Sana's room. Luckily they let them into the room now.

"Yeah, come in."

"Where are Momo and Mina?" Nayeon noticed how Dahyun is by herself.

"They went to get some food."

"How are you, Dahyun-ah?"

"I feel like shit. I got fucking betrayed." To be honest Dahyun doesn't really want to be beside Sana right now but since the older girl is weak, she has no choice but to stay. She won't forgive herself if something happens to Sana while she's gone.

"That's normal. It's a lot to take in."

"How could you continue to date Y/N after finding out that she's related to a gang?" Dahyun is really curious about it. Nayeon has been in kind of the same situation as her.

"I actually found out before we started dating."

"Did she tell you?"

"She didn't. I found out myself. She got hurt one day and then Taehyung called me and told me everything." Nayeon remembered.

"How did you react?"

"I was obviously not happy with it, but Y/N assured me that she wasn't a gangster. I had a hard time believing it at first because she literally lived around them, but seeing how much she wanted to leave that place made me believe her."

"What about Sana unnie? How did you find out?"

"I overheard her talking with Y/N one day at school. And there I questioned them until they told me. Dahyun-ah, I know this is very hard for you right now but don't conclude anything without hearing her side of the story." The teacher suggested.

"It's hard not to do that, unnie. No explanation could make the fact that she's a gangster better or acceptable." Dahyun sighed.

"I can tell that she loves you a lot though. That's one thing that you don't need to question. Sana normally doesn't even date people because it's dangerous for her to be dating them, but she loves you so much that she decided to take that risk."

"She should've told me. She's been lying to my face for months." Dahyun started tearing up.

"Yes, she should have. We tried to convince her many times to tell you, but she kept saying that it's dangerous." Nayeon patted Dahyun's back.

"Why is Dahyun crying again?" Momo and Mina walked in.

"Yah, I'm not crying! My eyes are just teary." Dahyun protested.

"It's okay to cry, Dahyun-ie." Mina patted the girl's head.

"Will you guys stay here with Sana? I think I should go home and sleep for a bit." Nayeon said.

"Yeah, don't worry unnie. We'll be here with Dahyun. You go home and rest. We'll call you when she's awake." Momo answered.

"Okay, thank you. I'll go now." And with that Nayeon left the hospital as well. She really hopes things will turn out well between Sana and Dahyun, but she's not that positive about it. Dahyun is angry and hurt at the same time, even though she's not showing it. She doesn't know if Dahyun will be able to forgive Sana for all the lies.
