Chapter 44

I Need You To Hate Me // Im Nayeon X Reader5,016 words~26 min read

The next day Nayeon and Jihyo woke up early since both of them need to go to work. Nayeon couldn't stop thinking about what happened yesterday. First of all she moved into a new apartment, which is a big change for her. Then Y/N got a scholarship, which she is very happy about. But there is one thing she isn't happy about and that is how Sana attacked Y/N. Nayeon has never seen her best friend like this. She reminded her of Y/N in the past.

"Unnie, can you drop me off at work? I came with Sana last night, so I don't have my car with me." Jihyo asked when they were eating breakfast.

"Yeah of course. No need to ask Jihyo-yah. If you're ready we can leave now."

"Yeah, I'm ready. Let's go." And with that they left Nayeon's new apartment and got into her car.

"You're also thinking about what happened last night aren't you?" Jihyo started.

"Yeah. How can I not? I've never seen Sana like that."

"Me too. But are we even surprised? She's a gangster, unnie. She has a side that she never shows us and that's why we're not intimitated or scared by her. We just seem to forget that she does bad things." Sana is always bright and happy whenever she's with her friends and that's why Nayeon and Jihyo didn't pay much attention to the fact that she's actually a gangster.

"Yeah, I know. I was just shocked. I feel like we barely know her. We only know the Sana that she shows us, but we don't know what she's like when she's a gangster." Nayeon sighed.

"Well, we got a snippet of that last night, didn't we?"

"Y/N had mentioned this." Nayeon remembered how Y/N told her that Sana has a bad side to her that they haven't seen.

"Mentioned what?" Jihyo raised her eyebrows.

"That Sana can be scary and that we don't want to see that other side of her."

"I'm surprised by how Y/N didn't fight back." Jihyo mentioned. Y/N didn't even defend herself when Sana attacked her.

"It's good that she didn't fight back. We wouldn't have been able to stop them." Sana and Y/N in a fight? No one, literally no one would be able to stop them.

"Seems like Y/N worked a lot on her self control." Jihyo still remembers how she had to scold Y/N a lot back in the day because she always got into fights.

"Yeah, she did." Nayeon answered simply and right at that time they arrived at Jihyo's school. Nayeon hasn't come here ever since she got fired and she feels weird to be back here.

"Thanks for the ride, unnie. I'll see you later." Jihyo thanked her.

"No problem, Jihyo-ssi." And with that Jihyo got out of her car. In the distance Nayeon saw Chaeyoung and Tzuyu talking to Minju. Chaeyoung and Tzuyu are the only ones from Y/N's friends that didn't graduate yet since they're younger. If all goes well they'll graduate this year and join the older girls in college.

"Isn't that Ms. Im's car?" Chaeyoung saw Jihyo getting out of a car, but she didn't realize that it was Nayeon's until she saw her ex-teacher in it.

"Oh yeah." Tzuyu waved to Ms. Im and Nayeon did the same.

"Let's say hi." Chaeyoung suggested and went towards Nayeon's car. Nayeon was actually about to drive away, but she didn't when she saw that the three girls were approaching her car.

"Hey girls." Nayeon said as she let her window down. Of course she won't get out of the car since most students know who she is and her reputation here is not that good either.

"Hey, why are you here?" Tzuyu asked. They haven't seen Nayeon come here in a very long time.

"I just dropped off Ms. Park." Nayeon smiled.

"How are you Minju?" Nayeon decided to ask when she locked eyes with Minju. Minju got even prettier, which Nayeon didn't even think was possible. Y/N surely has great taste in women.

"Oh, I'm good, thank you. How are you?" The girl bowed lightly. She's still very shy around Ms. Im.

"I'm okay but I should go now. I need to go to work too you know." Nayeon smiled weakly.

"See you later unnie. I mean Ms. Im." Chaeyoung corrected herself. She hasn't called the older girl Ms. Im in a while.

"Bye bye." Just when Nayeon was about to drive away she locked eyes with Jeongyeon who was standing a bit further from the car. This is another reason why Nayeon hasn't come here ever since she got fired. She doesn't want to see Jeongyeon. She still can't forgive her for what she did.

Jeongyeon was taken aback by seeing her ex-girlfriend. They haven't seen each other for like a year. Jeongyeon is still close with Jihyo and Sana since they're also colleagues. But unfortunately, Nayeon doesn't want to see her. They stared at each other for like 5 seconds until Nayeon decided to drive away. She doesn't want to attract any more attention than she already has.

Jeongyeon's heart broke at the sight of Nayeon. She does regret how she exposed Nayeon's relationship to the whole school and let's not mention that she's also the reason why Ms. Im got fired. She really wants to ask Nayeon for forgiveness, but she has done it so many times during their relationship, that Nayeon will surely not forgive her this time.

"What's with that look, Jeongyeon?" Jihyo asked when Jeongyeon came into the teacher room. She looks a bit down.

"I just saw Nayeon unnie."

"Oh, you saw her? She dropped me off. Did she say something to you?" Jihyo asked.

"No. we just locked eyes and then she left." Jeongyeon sighed.

"Just give her some time."

"It's been a year, Jihyo-ah. I don't think she'll forgive me anymore."

"Of course she won't dumbass." Sana also walked in.

"Yah, why are you suddenly so mean?" Jeongyeon furrowed her eyebrows. Sana is obviously annoyed by something.

"I'm not being mean. You got her fired and you got Y/N expelled. Do you really expect her to forgive you?"

"No, but you don't have to rub it in my face like that." Jeongyeon doesn't understand why Sana is acting like this.

"Sana please." Jihyo looked at her. The principal knows she's annoyed with Y/N, but she should be professional at school.

"Whatever, I'm going to class." Sana left the room.

"Did something happen to her?" Jeongyeon asked.

"Don't worry about it. You should also go to class." Jihyo patted Jeongyeon's shoulder.

---------------------------------------

"Yah, Y/N. Aren't you waking up?" Tiffany asked as she walked into Y/N's room. Y/N couldn't sleep at all last night because she was overthinking. The amount of sleep she has lost due to overthinking is really uncountable.

"What time is it?" Y/N groaned.

"11. Get ready so we can have some breakfast. Irene is also waiting for you."

"Fine. Give me 10 minutes." Luckily Y/N isn't working today.

After Y/N got ready, she went to the living room to see the two older girls sitting at the table.

"Why do you look like you got hit by a bus?" Irene asked when she saw Y/N in a hoodie looking like a mess. Y/N is just too tired to dress up.

"Did something happen?" Tiffany worried.

"I got the scholarship." Y/N smiled.

"What? Oh my God, Y/N. That's great news!" Tiffany stood up and hugged the girl.

"I'm so happy for you, Y/N. You deserve it." Irene hugged the girl as well.

"Thanks unnies." Y/N said as they all sat down and started eating.

"I can't believe you're gonna go to the police academy. It fits you so well." Irene exclaimed.

"Yeah, our Y/N is growing up." Tiffany acted like she was tearing up.

"Did you tell your friends about this?" Irene asked.

"Nayeon unnie knows."

"Oh really? You told her?"

"Yeah. We actually found out that I got the scholarship at the same time."

"Of course she was the first one to know." Irene smirked.

"We just happened to be at the same place at that time."

"Yeah, right. What a coincidence." Irene rolled her eyes.

"Is she the only one that knows?" Tiffany asked.

"I told Sana unnie. You can guess how that went." Y/N sighed.

"Ahh, now that explains why you don't look very happy." Irene nodded to herself.

"Did you get scolded a lot?" Tiffany asked.

"Yeah, more like I almost got choked." Y/N chuckled.

"Wait, what?? Did she hurt you?" Irene worried.

"No. I'm fine, don't worry about it. I just said something that I shouldn't have said and that made her mad and caused her to attack me."

"What did you say Y/N-ah? You said something about Dahyun didn't you?" Tiffany guessed.

"Yeah. She kept telling me not go to that school so I told her that she should worry about her relationship instead of my life." Y/N explained.

"You know Dahyun is a sensitive topic to her. You shouldn't have mentioned that." Irene shook her head lightly.

"I know. I know. It's just she never got so angry at me. I didn't expect her to attack me like that." Y/N knows what Sana is capable of. You can't be a gangster if you can't fight. But Y/N just didn't expect that Sana was going to use her abilities against her.

"Were you able to control yourself? Or did you guys get in a fight?" Tiffany asked.

"Luckily Nayeon unnie and Ms. Park were there so I managed to control myself for their sake, but if they weren't there I probably would've freaked out. I was very close to losing myself." A lot of people have been testing Y/N lately. Luckily she hasn't lost control yet but how long will it last when people just keep challenging her?

"It's good that you didn't. Getting in a fight with Sana isn't a very good idea." Irene mentioned and just at that time Y/N's phone rang.

"Who's calling?"

"Taehyung oppa." Y/N read the caller's name. Taehyung hasn't called her ever since she came back, so she's guessing Sana told him about her going to the police school.

"Are you gonna pick up?" Tiffany asked and Y/N nodded answering the call.

"Yes, oppa?"

"Y/N can we meet up today? If you're free?" Taehyung asked.

"Yeah, when and where?"

"In an hour at the coffee shop we always used to go to."

"Okay, I'll be there." Y/N answered.

"Great, see you then."

"Yeah. Bye." And with that Y/N hung up. She knows Taehyung is going to scold her as well, but she isn't scared. She already made her choice and no one can change her mind.

------------------------------------------------

After an hour Y/N went to the coffee shop to meet Taehyung. When she entered, she already saw him sitting at a table so she approached him.

"Oh Y/N. You're here, please sit." Taehyung gestured to the chair in front of him.

"I'm guessing Sana unnie told you. Right?" Y/N doesn't want to waste time so she immediately asked him about it.

"Yeah." Taehyung looked down.

"Go ahead. Say what you want to say. I'm listening." Even though he won't be able to change Y/N's mind, he's still an important person in her life so of course she cares about his opinion and thoughts.

"I'm not here to scold you or to tell you that you shouldn't accept the scholarship."

"Wait, what?" Y/N raised her eyebrows. Is she hearing it right?

"I know you probably thought this through and I'm sure you know what you're doing. I also know the reason why you want to do this so if you really want to do this, go ahead and do it. I will support you." This is way different than how Sana reacted. Then again, Taehyung has always been by Y/N's side and he knows the best out of everyone what the girl went through.

"You're not gonna tell me that it's dangerous? That gangs are going to be after me?" That was what Sana told her.

"No. Gangs have been after you for years now and you managed to protect yourself at such a young age so I don't think it will change anything, but there is something you should know." Taehyung sighed. Y/N knew there was going to be something, there's no way he's going to be 100% okay with this.

"What is it?"

"Your dad. He's... He's out of jail." He said weakly and Y/N froze.

"W-w-what? That can't be. I thought he had like another 5 years?" This doesn't make sense.

"They released him early due to good behaviour. He got out a couple of days ago and he's looking for you, Y/N. He keeps asking Sana and I about your whereabouts. We always say that we don't know, but he'll find you soon so you should be careful." Taehyung advised.

"Why is he looking for me?" The last time Y/N remembers seeing him, is when he abandoned her as a child on the streets. So why is he looking for her now?

"I don't know. He's been sending you letters for a while right? Did you read any of them?"

"No. I threw them all away." Maybe she shouldn't have thrown them away. The reason why he's looking for her is probably in those letters.

"He won't be happy when he finds out that you're going to the police academy." Taehyung shook his head. He's worried about how the man will react.

"I don't care, oppa. What is he going to do? Kill me as well?" It wouldn't even be a surprise. If he can kill his wife then he won't have trouble killing his daughter as well.

"You don't know what he's capable of, Y/N."

"I do know what he's capable of. I've seen him kill and torture people with my own eyes, including my mom. I've seen it all oppa. I know what kind of psychopath he really is." He's the reason why she chose to pursue a career in the police department and he's also the reason for all her childhood traumas.

"Just be careful Y/N. I'm not sure why he's looking for you, but either way he won't be happy when he finds out about this."

"He won't find out right away. School doesn't start for another four months so there's no way he'll hear it now, except if you or Sana unnie tell him."

"We won't do that, Y/N. Don't worry about that." The guy assured.

"Thanks oppa."

"You changed." Taehyung said suddenly.

"Changed? What way?" It isn't the first time she's hearing this though.

"You're still stubborn that hasn't changed, but your attitude and the way you look and speak. Almost everything." He noticed.

"Going away helped." It really did help, but lately she's been struggling a lot. Knowing that her dad is out of jail makes her very angry. He should be in prison for the rest of his life, but he's out there again. Why is the universe challenging her? Didn't she go through enough? Does the universe really want to see Y/N fail?

"I can see that. I heard from Sana that you're doing well and that you're okay with everyone, even with Nayeon." He smiled weakly.

"Yeah, I'm lucky to have people like them around me." Even though she was an ass, they all forgave her. She's forever thankful for them.

"How is it going with Nayeon, huh?" The guy smirked.

"Yah why are you smirking like that? There's nothing going on. We're friends." Anyone can tell that Y/N is lying at this point.

"Yeah right, friends." He laughed and they continued catching up. They haven't seen each other for a year so there were many things to talk about.

---------------------------------

After Y/N met up with Taehyung she went home. It was nice to see the older guy again, she really did miss him. Even though they had fun talking, Y/N can't get the thought that her dad left prison out of her head. Now that she's home and all by herself she keeps thinking about it and it's slowly driving her crazy. She has so many questions. Why did he get out of prison so early? Why is he looking for her? What did he actually write in those letters?

All these thoughts were driving her crazy so she decided to go for a walk to take her mind off of things. When she was walking she got the idea to see how Nayeon is doing in her new apartment. She's close to the older girl's apartment right now anyway. Besides she feels bad for the fight she had with Sana yesterday, so she should apologize.

"Y/N?" Nayeon opened the door. She didn't expect the younger girl to show up at this hour. It's almost 11pm.

"Oh unnie, were you sleeping?" Y/N thought that Nayeon might be sleeping at this hour but luckily she's awake.

"Oh no, come in." Nayeon widened the door and Y/N entered.

"What brings you here this late?" It's not that Nayeon isn't happy that Y/N came, but it feels like something is off. Y/N normally wouldn't show up here this late.

"I went for a walk and I wanted to see how you're doing in your new apartment. But if I'm disturbing you, I'll leave."

"No, no. I'm glad you're here. Let's sit." Nayeon suggested and they both sat down on the couch.

"What do you want to drink?"

"Oh just water is fine." Y/N answered and Nayeon got up and went to the kitchen to get some water for Y/N.

"Here." The teacher handed the glass of water and sat back on the couch.

"Thanks." By the way Y/N looks and speaks Nayeon can tell that something is wrong. She looks kinda sad?

"So how is it? In your new apartment?" Y/N asked after a short silence.

"It's okay. I still need to figure out how to organise everything but I like it for now. Besides Jihyo slept over last night so I wasn't too lonely."

"I'm sorry for last night. I didn't know it was going to get out of hand." Y/N apologized as she looked down.

"It's not your fault Y/N. You don't have to be sorry."

"Still, I wanted to apologize."

"Are you going to tell me the real reason why you're here?" Nayeon looked at Y/N.

"I already told you. I came here to see how you're doing and I wanted to apologize." Well, she's not lying. It's partially true

"You might be good at lying to others, but I can tell you're lying right away. I know you too well to not notice when you're lying." Since Y/N lied to Nayeon a lot in the past, Nayeon has somehow figured out when she's lying and when she's not.

"I just have a lot on my mind, don't worry about it. I don't want to disturb you with my problems. I should just leave. It's late and you're working tomorrow." Y/N stood up but Nayeon held her wrist stopping her.

"Y/N, sit please." Seeing the look on Nayeon's face, Y/N immediately sat down.

"You're not disturbing me, so just tell me what's on your mind. I want to know. Is it because of your fight with Sana? Don't think about it too much, she'll understand. You got the scholarship so you should be happy."

"I am happy about that, believe me. And it's not Sana unnie, I was actually expecting for her to react that way and I'm sure she'll come around one day." It might take years, but it'll happen.

"Then what is it?" Nayeon's curiosity is growing. If she isn't sad about her fight with Sana then what is she sad about?

"Today, I found out that my dad got out of jail." Finally, Y/N told her what's wrong.

"W-what?" Nayeon raised her voice. Even though she doesn't know the man, she hates him for everything that he did to Y/N.

"Apparently he got out a couple of days ago. They released him early and he's looking for me now." Y/N explained.

"Why the hell is he looking for you?" Hearing this makes Nayeon really worried. She doesn't want that man to get near Y/N again.

"I don't know, but he'll find me soon."

"How are you feeling about this?" Nayeon caressed the younger girl's shoulder.

"I don't know. I'm supposed to be feeling angry, but weirdly I don't? I just feel empty and I'm afraid that this feeling might be much worse than anger." Y/N confessed. Her eyes are getting teary because she's just so overwhelmed. Ever since Taehyung told her that he got out, Y/N has been replaying everything that happened in the past. And let me tell you, it's a dark past. A very dark one.

"Y/N even if he shows up, don't let him get to you, okay? You've come a long way and look at you now, you're doing amazing. You should be proud of yourself." Nayeon is proud of her, so she should be proud of herself as well.

"I can't be proud of myself. I still have a long way to go. I'm trying very hard to become a better person, but lately everything and everyone around me is challenging me. It's like everyone is trying to make me fail. And now that he's out of jail, I don't know how I will react when I see him. What if I do something bad? Or what if I get influenced by him? I'm trying really fucking hard, but why do I feel like I'm failing?" Y/N shed a tear as she faced the other way. She can't let Nayeon see her cry. This is why Y/N didn't want to come back. She was doing fine at the countryside but ever since she came back, her past started haunting her again.

"Are you crying?" Nayeon asked weakly.

"No." Y/N lied but of course Nayeon doesn't believe that. The older girl held Y/N's chin and turned it towards her so that she can see her face and Y/N is indeed crying.

"I told you this before, don't you ever be ashamed to cry in front of me." Nayeon's heart breaks at this sight. She can see that Y/N is trying her best and giving her 100%, but her past just keeps haunting her.

"Come here." Nayeon pulled Y/N into a hug and Y/N just cried on her shoulder. She's been keeping it all in until now. She's been struggling a lot lately but she managed to ignore it. At least until this moment.

"Don't worry, okay? You're not gonna fail. You're almost there. You're strong and smart, your dad coming back won't have any influence on your improvement." Nayeon assured as she caressed the girl's hair.

"How do you know that?" Y/N asked as she pulled away from the hug and wiped her tears.

"I just know. I trust you. You managed to come all the way here and I'm sure you won't be going downhill. Besides I'm here for you. I will help you and I won't let him get what he wants." Nayeon shook her head. At this point she would do anything to keep Y/N safe.

"Why are you still around me? You should be hating me." Y/N really doesn't understand why Nayeon is so sweet to her. She hurt her a lot, so the teacher should be hating her.

"Why do you always say that? I still remember what you said when we broke up. You told me that you need me to hate you. Do you remember that?" Nayeon asked and Y/N just nodded. Of course she remembers.

"You asked me to hate you, but I can't. No matter what you do or say, I can never hate you." Nayeon admitted.

"Do you still want me to hate you?" Nayeon is curious about what Y/N will answer.

"No. I never wanted you to hate me in the first place, but after everything I did, I thought it would be the best if you just hated me. I thought it would be easier for you to move on if I told you to hate me."

"What if right now I said that I hate you and that I never want to see you again would you leave?" Of course Nayeon would never say that but she's just curious.

"I don't know what I would do honestly. I still don't know what to do at this point. It wasn't in my plan to get so close to you again." Y/N sighed.

"I thought it was in your plan? Wasn't that what you promised?" Nayeon is confused.

"It was my plan to get close to you when I become the person that you deserve, but I already did that before I fulfilled my promise." Her whole plan just failed. She wasn't supposed to meet Nayeon back again so soon.

"Do you still not think that you're the person that I deserve?" In the teacher's eyes Y/N has fulfilled the promise.

"Hell no. You deserve the world. You deserve someone who treats you well, who never hurts you, who only makes you happy and who loves you to death. I'm just not that person yet and I keep fucking failing." Y/N is really frustrated with herself.

"Yah, how are you failing huh? You got attacked by a guy, you didn't lose control. You got attacked by Sana you didn't lose control either. So how are you failing? Did you lose control when I wasn't around or something?" Nayeon really doesn't get why Y/N keeps talking badly about herself. Everyone can see that Y/N improved a lot except for Y/N herself.

"No."

"Then how are you failing Y/N? The major problem you had was dealing with your anger and you seem to be doing that well now."

"I'm failing because lately It's been very hard to not lose control, unnie. I almost lost control when Sana unnie attacked me. I'm feeling things that I shouldn't be feeling right now." Y/N answered.

"No one ever told you to get rid of your anger. Everyone gets angry sometimes, I get angry too, it's natural. You can't expect from yourself to never get angry, that's just impossible. You used to get angry over minor things, but now you don't even care about those things so how are you fucking failing?" Nayeon is slowly getting annoyed.

"So you think that I'm not failing?" Y/N raised her eyebrows.

"No, no one thinks that except for you.. It's really frustrating that you can't accept your improvement."

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to make you mad." Y/N said weakly.

"No, no, no. I'm not mad. I'm sorry I'm being too hard on you." Nayeon again sometimes forgets that Y/N is just a teenager and that she should approach her in a calm way.

"No, you're not. Don't worry about that. It's good that you're being hard on me sometimes. It makes me realize things."

"But it also puts too much pressure on you. You said so yourself. I don't want to push you again like I did in the past. If you think that you're not there yet and need to improve even more then take your time and do it slowly okay? Don't rush yourself and don't let other people rush you either." Nayeon advised as she caressed the younger's cheek.

"The only one that rushes me is me myself. I'm still gonna fulfil that promise but I'm scared you won't be there anymore when I finally have." Y/N confessed as she held Nayeon's hand that was on her cheek.

"I will wait for you, Y/N. I promise that." She just loves Y/N so much, that she can't see herself being with someone else. If Y/N wants her to wait for her then she'll do it.

"I really want to kiss you right now." Nayeon confessed as she stared into Y/N's eyes.

"Then do it." Y/N knows it's wrong to be doing this before she fulfilled that stupid promise but she really wants to.

Both girls leaned in slowly touching each other's lips. The kiss was again full of love. They can't tell how much they love each other with words so they try to communicate with their lips. Y/N pulled Nayeon closer and the kiss got a bit more heated. The older girl put her arms around Y/N's neck, enjoying this kiss a bit too much. When Y/N noticed that it was getting too heated she pulled away. She doesn't want to take it too far.

"I'm sorry, I got carried away." Nayeon said.

"No, it's okay." Y/N said and a silence followed afterwards.

"You know Tiffany unnie told me that I should face my past if I want to know If I actually improved or not." Y/N remembered.

"She's right. Once you get closure with your past, I think everything will fall into it's place."

"Yeah, I think so too. I guess now is the right time to do that." She basically doesn't even have to do anything. Her past aka her dad will come to her its self.

"You'll be okay Y/N. Don't worry." Nayeon assured and cuddled Y/N. She missed cuddling with Y/N. The younger girl put her arm around Nayeon and pulled her closer. She really needs Nayeon to be beside her right now. The older girl just makes everything better.

"Y/N, stay over. It's late you shouldn't go home this late."

"Okay." Y/N obeyed. If Nayeon didn't say herself, she was gonna ask it anyways. She wants to be with Nayeon all the time. Her heart beats rapidly for the older girl and she loves the feeling of loving someone.
