Chapter 37

I Need You To Hate Me // Im Nayeon X Reader3,255 words~17 min read

A few days after Nayeon told Sana about seeing Y/N, Sana decided to go check the real estate office to see if Y/N is actually working there. She wanted to go earlier but she didn't have time. She's curious about what Y/N is doing right now and why she didn't call when she came back. She knows Y/N won't contact her first, so she just decided to go to the place where she thought the younger girl most likely would be, which is at the office. Hopefully, she'll be there.

"Hi, how can I help you?" A young girl asked when Sana entered the office.

"Hi, I'm actually looking for Choi Y/N. Does she work here?"

"Ah, yes she does. Do you have an appointment?" Sana shook her head.

"Oh no, can you just tell her that her friend is here?"

"Yes, please wait here." The girl smiled and went to Y/N's office to let her know that someone wants to see her.

"Ms. Choi, someone is here to see you. She said she's your friend." My friend? Y/N thought to herself. She has no friends who could it be?

"Let her in." Y/N has no idea on who it might be, but she let her in anyways.

"Ms. You can go in." The girl said to Sana. The Japanese woman opened the door to Y/N's office and smiled weakly upon seeing her. She's relieved to see the younger girl.

"Ms. Sana?" Y/N said with raised eyebrows looking up from her computer. Y/N didn't expect Sana to show up here. First Nayeon, now Sana. Who's next? Minju?

"Y/N-ie, can I come in?"

"Yeah. Come in." Y/N hesitated a bit, but decided to let her in anyways.

"Are you here to look for an apartment?" Y/N knows that Sana is not here to look for an apartment, but since she's at work she decided to stay professional.

"No. I'm here to see you. Nayeon unnie told me that she saw you here, but I had to see you with my own eyes." Sana explained.

"Why didn't you call when you came back?" Y/N really doesn't want to answer that question, but she knows Sana. She won't stop asking until she gets an answer.

"Do you remember what I told you before I left? I said that I was gonna call you when the time is right. And when I came back, the time wasn't right."

"Is the time right now?" Sana raised her eyebrows.

"No, it's not."

"Why?"

"Because I'm not ready yet." Y/N sighed.

"Ready for what?"

"Did you come here to interrogate me?" Y/N joked.

"No, I'm sorry. I'm just curious. I have a lot of questions Y/N." No one knows what Y/N has been doing for the past year, it's natural for her to be curious.

"I understand that."

"I missed you." Sana informed while Y/N just smiled weakly. She missed the Japanese woman as well, but she doesn't have the courage to tell her that.

"You're lucky that I didn't tell Dahyun that you're back, she would've been really upset about that."

"D-dahyun? Are you still in contact with her?" Y/N asked in curiosity.

"Yeah, we're dating." Sana said proudly. Of course she'll be proud, she's dating the one and only Kim Dahyun.

"Owww." Y/N isn't surprised at all. She knew that they both liked each other. She's glad that they ended up together even after Y/N got in their way.

"Are you going to tell your friends? They've been really worried about you. They're gonna be really upset when they found out that you came back but didn't even let them know about it."

"I'm not planning on telling them, at least not yet." Y/N shook her head.

"Why? If you don't tell them, I will. Or at least I will tell Dahyun. But you and I both know that it'll be much better if you tell them."

"Fine, I will tell them." Y/N doesn't want to do it, but she knows Sana is right. Her friends will find out sooner or later, so it's best if she tells them herself.

"You look different, Y/N-ie." Sana said suddenly.

"Different?"

"Yeah, you have a different vibe going around you." Now Sana gets why Nayeon said that Y/N looks different.

"I hope that's a good thing?" Y/N raised her eyebrows. She's not sure if the older girl meant something positive or negative.

"I think it is. Did going away help?"

"It did. I did a lot of self-reflecting and I managed to see the wrongs in my doings. I feel a lot better now." Y/N explained. Sana is very happy to hear that Y/N is doing better.

"Did you graduate? How did you even end up working here? Where did you actually even go to?" Sana started question bombing.

"I'd love to answer all your questions, Ms. Sana but I have work to do." Y/N actually has a client waiting for her. She doesn't want to be rude to Sana, but she needs to do her work.

"Oh yeah right, you probably have clients. I'm sorry for coming so suddenly. I'll call you later, is that okay?" The older girl asked to which Y/N just nodded. Sana was about to leave, but Y/N said something that stopped Sana right at the door.

"Unnie wait."

"What is it Y/N?" Sana turned around.

"Did Ms. Im say anything about the apartments I send her? She didn't contact me about it."

"Oh, she didn't really say anything." Sana answered while Y/N just nodded. Sana can see the disappointment on Y/N's face. Part of Y/N is glad that Nayeon didn't contact her but the other part is disappointed.

----------------------------------

"Yah, Choi Y/N! Are you even listening to us?" Tiffany asked. She, Y/N and Irene are just hanging out in Tiffany's apartment. After Y/N and Irene came back, Y/N moved back in with Tiffany while Irene moved to another apartment with her family.

"Ow, sorry what did you say?" Y/N keeps thinking about why Nayeon hasn't contacted her. Almost a week passed and she still hasn't heard from her. She probably doesn't want to see me. Y/N thought to herself. I mean why would she, after all the mess Y/N caused.

"You've been dozing off a lot lately." Tiffany noticed.

"She's been like this ever since that woman showed up at the office." Irene informed.

"Woman? What woman?" Y/N's ex-guardian asked. Since Y/N is 18 right now, Tiffany isn't her guardian anymore.

"No one." Y/N glared at Irene. She hasn't told Tiffany about seeing Nayeon yet.

"What was her name again? It was something with Im Na, Im Na, aish I don't remember." Irene got frustrated with herself.

"Im Nayeon?" Tiffany raised her eyebrows.

"Yes! Exactly Im Nayeon." Y/N sighed. She knows she's going to get teased a lot right now.

"Oh, My. God. Nayeon showed up at the office??"

"Wait, do you know her?" Irene got confused.

"Yeah, of course I know her. She's Y/N's ex-girlfriend." This conversation is really making Y/N uncomfortable.

"Which one?" Irene smirked.

"Yah! What do you mean which one? It's not like I've had many." Y/N scolded her.

"It's the teacher one." Tiffany informed.

"Which teacher though? The gangster one or the one that Y/N cried about the entire summer?" When Y/N moved in with Irene, they became close very fast. She has a similar relationship with Irene, as she has with Tiffany. They both know everything about Y/N, including her past relationships and her traumatic past.

"The one she cried about the entire summer."

"Aish, I knew something was up when I saw the look on your face when she entered." Irene shook her head.

"Why was Nayeon there though? Did she find out that you came back?" The ex-guardian asked.

"She didn't know. She actually just came to look for an apartment and there she saw me." Y/N sighed. Tiffany could tell that Y/N isn't very happy that she encountered with her ex-girlfriend.

"You don't seem very happy about it."

"Well, I'm not." The teenager replied honestly.

"Why? Didn't you keep saying that you need to become a good person so that you can win her back?" Irene questioned.

"Yeah, I still stand by my words."

"Then what's the problem? This is your chance Y/N. Go for it." Tiffany encouraged her.

"I'm not ready yet, unnie. I want to win her back when I'm 100% stable. We all know that I'm not there yet." Y/N looked down.

"Yah, what are you talking about? Where is the confident Y/N that I first met when I became her guardian, huh? Where did that confidence go?"

"I guess it left when Nayeon broke up with me." Y/N used to be very confident and rude, but ever since what happened she's changed. She's lost a lot of confidence and she's actually kinda shy right now.

"Y/N, listen to me. You improved a lot. You may not be a 100% stable right now, but who is a 100% stable anyways? Your personality and your attitude are much better now. And most important of all, you know how to control your anger now." Tiffany explained.

"Yeah, I haven't seen you get angry in a very long time. I mean it's a huge improvement." Irene added. Y/N knows it's true. The countryside helped her a lot in getting rid of the demons in her head. She hasn't heard the voices for about 6 months right now.

"I agree that I got better. I do feel better as well, but I still feel like I'm not there yet. It will take some time for me to get completely rid of these demons." The truth is Y/N is scared that she's going to go back to her old self when she comes in contact with people who were part of her past such as her friends, Nayeon, Sana and the gang members, including her best friend Taehyung.

The reason why she also didn't want to come back in the first place is because she didn't want to be reminded of her past. The first month when she was back, she struggled a lot because everything reminded her of what happened, but luckily she didn't fall into her old patterns.

"I just think the universe send Nayeon to you for a reason. This may be your only chance, Y/N." The oldest said.

"It's been a year, unnie. She's probably dating someone else right now and she moved on. I have no right to just walk back into her life like that."

"Omo, when did you become so thoughtful?" Tiffany really doesn't recognise the girl in front of her anymore. The girl has changed a lot.

"Actually something else has happened today as well. Sana showed up at the office." Now that they're talking about Nayeon anyways, Y/N thought it would be a good thing to tell them about Sana coming to the office as well.

"Really? She probably heard it from Nayeon then." Tiffany said.

"Wait, who is Sana?" Irene does know everyone that was part of Y/N's life, she's just not good with names.

"It's Y/N's other ex-girlfriend, the gangster one." Tiffany explained.

"Why are suddenly all your ex-girlfriends coming to the office?"

"She and Nayeon are friends." Tiffany explained.

"She told me that my friends have been worried about me and that I should tell them that I'm back."

"I think you should either. I mean when you left, they kept calling and bothering me asking about you. They were really worried, Y/N. Besides I think you're ready to get back in contact with them." Tiffany suggested.

"I'm just scared. I don't wanna go back to my old self, but I feel like if I get in contact with people from my past, I'll automatically go there." Y/N sighed.

"You need to be strong. If seeing your friends leads you to being an asshole again then that means you haven't succeeded yet. But if seeing your friends doesn't do anything with you, then that means you've actually changed and that you're ready." Irene really does have a way with words. Y/N gets influenced by her words a lot, because most of the time the older girl is right. If she really did change and if she really is over her past, than seeing her friends again shouldn't be a big deal.

"You know what, I think I'm actually ready to face them again. I'm gonna call Chaeyoung first." With that Y/N stood up and went to her room to call Chaeyoung. She took her phone and looked at the screen with Chaeyoung's name on it. She was hesitant if she should really call or not. She hesitated for about 10 minutes, until she decided to just call.

"Hello? Who is this?" Chaeyoung answered the phone and Y/N gulped. She's nervous.

"Hey Chaeyoung, it's Y/N."

"Y/N? Choi Y/N?" Chaeyoung's voice sounded like she was shocked.

"Yeah, it's me Choi Y/N."

"Oh my God, unnie. Are you back?" Chaeyoung doesn't care about the fact that Y/N didn't contact her for a year, she's just glad that the older girl finally did.

"Yeah, I'm back in the city. That's why I'm calling you. To tell you that." Y/N feels very awkward right now.

"I'm so glad you called, unnie. Do you want to meet up?" Chaeyoung asked.

"Uhm actually, can you tell the other girls as well? I want to meet up with all of you." Y/N wasn't sure if all the girls are still in the city. But according to Tiffany they all go to college here and they're still very close.

"Yeah, of course. We were actually going to meet this evening at my place. So you can come if that's okay with you?"

"Yeah, okay. I'll be there." Y/N nodded.

"Great, then I'll see you in a few hours. Gotta go now. Bye unnie."

"Bye, Chaeyoung." Y/N hung up the phone. Aish why did she agree to meet all of them? She's even more nervous now. What will their reactions be? Do they hate her because she left without even saying a word? Do they hate her for all the mess she caused? Or do they actually understand why she did what she did? These questions are keeping her mind occupied a lot lately.

----------------------------

Y/N is in front of Chaeyoung's doorstep right now. She swears she can explode any moment because of how nervous she is. She can already hear voices coming from inside, so she guesses that her friends are already here. What is she even going to say to them? She stood in front of the door for like 5 minutes hesitating about wether to knock or not. Just when she decided to knock, the door opened itself revealing a shocked Tzuyu.

"Y/N unnie?" Chaeyoung didn't tell the girls about Y/N coming, so they don't know that Y/N is back.

"Tzuyu-ah..." Y/N doesn't know what to say. Both of them just stared at each other until Chaeyoung showed up behind Tzuyu.

"Tzuyu, who is it?"

"Oh my God, it's Y/N unnie. You're finally here, come in." Chaeyoung smiled and opened the door widely for Y/N to enter. Y/N did what she was told and the first thing Chaeyoung did when Y/N was inside was hug her. She missed her best friend a lot. Tzuyu on the other hand didn't look very happy to see the older girl...

"Guys, look who's here!" Chaeyoung exclaimed in excitement as she pulled Y/N to the living room where the rest of the girls were. As soon as they saw Y/N they all raised their eyebrows. Y/N can tell that they didn't expect this at all.

"Am I hallucinating or is Y/N really in front of us right now?" Momo asked.

"Y/N?" Mina stood up from her chair and approached Y/N. "Wow, it really is you." She said as she hugged the girl.

"So I'm not hallucinating? Thank God." Momo sighed in relief.

"Y/N unnie actually called me today and told me that she's back."

"That's why Chaeyoung doesn't look shocked." Dahyun noticed.

"Yah, Chaengie, why didn't you tell us?" Mina asked her girlfriend. Y/N is glad that the two are still dating.

"I wanted to surprise you guys. But anyways why are we all standing? Let's sit." With that they all sat down at the table. Y/N feels pretty uncomfortable. She looked at every girl's expression and they were all different. Mina and Chaeyoung look happy to see her. Momo looks like she doesn't really care. Dahyun's expression doesn't really say anything and Tzuyu keeps glaring at her.

"When did you come back?" Mina was the first one to speak up.

"Four months ago." Y/N answered.

"You came back four months ago, but you're telling us just now?" Dahyun asked.

"Yeah, I'm sorry, I wanted to tell you earlier but I needed to take care of some things."

"Take care of some things? I can't believe you have the audacity to show up here after you left us without even saying a word. Do you know how worried we were? We didn't even know if you were alive! And now you're just coming back, like nothing happened?" Tzuyu raised her voice. Y/N knew that at least one of them was going to act like this.

"Tzuyu, don't." Mina looked at her.

"I can't do this right now." Tzuyu stood up harshly from her chair and left.

"Unnie, don't mind her. She's just mad." Chaeyoung patted Y/N's shoulder.

"She's not just mad, she's disappointed. She was the most worried out of all of us. She tried to contact Y/N many times, but with no success. You know she has a special bound with Y/N." Dahyun defended. Even though Tzuyu seems cold hearted, she cares about her friends a lot. Y/N always took care of Tzuyu like her younger sister, so Tzuyu felt very disappointed when she suddenly left.

"She's right. She has every right to be mad at me. I was an asshole and I did many things that I regret." Y/N informed.

"Is your mental health better now? I mean wasn't that the reason you left?" Momo asked.

"Yeah, I had a lot of time so I used that to fix myself. Going away did help me. I know you guys are disappointed with me, but I want you to understand that at that time I was doing very badly. I was close to losing myself, so I had to escape as fast as possible. I know I hurt people in the main process, and I wish I could turn back time, but I can't."

"The most important thing is that you're better now. Your health is way more important than us." Chaeyoung said and they all nodded.

"Don't worry about Tzuyu, she'll understand as well. She just needs time." Momo assured Y/N. They continued talking and the girls noticed how Y/N was so shy suddenly. They can see that leaving really did do something with her. Of course all four girls are happy to see Y/N again, but Y/N felt like Dahyun wasn't very happy with it. While they were talking, Dahyun didn't really say that much, which is pretty rare, since Dahyun talks a lot normally. Does she maybe know about Y/N and Sana? But that can't be, Y/N knows Sana well and she's pretty sure that the Japanese woman didn't tell her girlfriend about it. Maybe she just feels the same way as Tzuyu?
