One year later
A year has passed since the day that Y/N left and Y/N's friends haven't seen her ever since. Of course they all wonder where she is and what she's doing right now, but they know they won't be able to contact her so they just don't. The only one that knows about what Y/N does, is Tiffany. But unfortunately Tiffany won't give out any information about Y/N, so Y/N's friends just gave up asking about her.
"Yah unnie, why are you always late when we decide to hang out?" Sana asked when Nayeon joined her and Jihyo at the coffee shop.
"I had some assignments to grade. You know this school makes me work way harder than your school." Nayeon smiled. After the news of her and Y/N spread, Nayeon found a new school to work in. It's a bit further from her place than her previous school, but she can manage. The teacher misses working with Sana and Jihyo a lot, but she knows it's impossible to go back to that school.
"Well, you shouldn't have left then." Jihyo teased.
"Yah, I didn't have a choice did I?"
"If you had waited to date your student after graduation, like Sana, then you wouldn't have been in this situation right now." Jihyo sighed.
"Hey, let me out of this. Why are you suddenly talking about me? We were talking about Nayeon unnie, weren't we?" Sana protested.
"Because you're dating your student, just like how Nayeon unnie did." Jihyo laughed.
"For your information, it's my ex-student. It's not like she's still my student."
"Well, stop talking about your student, cause she's right there." Nayeon said averting her eyes towards the door, which was behind Sana.
"Aah, Dahyunieee." Sana exclaimed happily when she saw her girlfriend and kissed her on the cheek. Yes, they are dating. They started dating about four months ago. Sana was planning to ask Dahyun out after graduation, but it wasn't as easy as she thought it would be. It took her 6 months to make Dahyun agree to date her.
"What were you guys talking about?" Dahyun sat down next to Sana. Dahyun still feels uncomfortable around Sana's friends, since they both used to be her ex-teachers, but luckily Ms. Im and Ms. Park don't care at all.
"Oh nothing." Sana lied.
"Guys I need to go now." Nayeon said standing up.
"What? You just got here?" Jihyo furrowed her eyebrows.
"Remember how I told you that I'm looking for a new apartment? I actually have an appointment at the real estate office today." Nayeon does like her current apartment as it is, but since she changed schools it's a bit far for her so she's looking for an apartment that's closer to her work.
"You still haven't found an apartment?" Dahyun asked.
"I haven't Dahyun-ah. There were some nice apartments, but they were out of my budget."
"I hope you find one soon."
"I hope so too. Anyways gotta go." With that Nayeon hugged the three girls and left the coffee shop to go to the real estate office.
--------------------------
"Hi, I have an appointment at 2pm." Nayeon said when she entered the office.
"Ah yes, you're Im Nayeon?"
"Yes."
"Please wait in the waiting room. I will call you when it's your turn." The secretary told her while Nayeon nodded. After like 5 minutes the secretary called Nayeon and Nayeon went into the office.
"Hello, you're Ms. Im?" The woman behind the desk asked as she offered a hand shake.
"Yes, that's me." Nayeon answered as she accepted the hand shake.
"Please sit down. Can you tell me what kind of place you're looking for?" The woman asked.
"I'm looking for an apartment around this area. It's closer to my work place so I'd like to change places." Nayeon answered.
"I see. It's actually best if I send you to our youngest employee. She's the one that has the most knowledge about houses and apartments around this area, so I think she'll be able to help you better. Would that be okay?"
"Yeah, sure." Nayeon answered and with that the woman stood up and went to the office next door to see if that other employee is free.
"Hey, are you free right now? I have a client that's looking for an apartment in this area, I think you'll be able to help her better than I can."
"Yeah, I'm free. Let her in." The woman nodded and went back to Nayeon.
"You can follow me." The woman smiled and Nayeon followed her into another office.
"Y/N I brought the client." The woman said as she and Nayeon entered. As soon as Nayeon entered she froze. Is she really seeing Y/N or is she hallucinating? The girl looks so much like Y/N and this woman also just called her Y/N. She has to be Y/N...
Y/N has the exact same reaction as Nayeon. She froze completely when she saw her ex-girlfriend in front of her.
"Y/N?" Nayeon whispered to herself, but the woman next to her heard it.
"Oh you two know each other already? Great, that's even better. I'll leave you two alone now." With that the older employee left the office. Nayeon and Y/N kept looking at each other for what seemed like a life time until Y/N decided to speak up.
"Uhm, please sit down."Â Y/N said looking away and gestured to the chair in front of her. The atmosphere couldn't be more awkward.
"Can you tell me your budget and all the specifications you want the apartment to have?"Â Y/N asked. She really hates the situation that she is in right now, but she has to stay professional. Nayeon had trouble answering that question, not because she doesn't know what she wants but because of the person in front of her. Luckily she somehow managed to answer.
"Okay, I see. So there are a few apartments in this area that I can recommend for you. I think they'll fit your needs, so I will send them all to you by e-mail and you can look at them at home. When you see some apartments that you like please contact me so that we can show you around." Y/N explained but Nayeon was barely listening to what the younger girl was saying. She has so many questions going around in her head right now. When did Y/N come back? Why is she working here? Did she manage to graduate? Where does she live now?
"Ms. Im are you listening?" Y/N noticed how Nayeon was dozing off. Well, she can't blame her. They haven't seen each other for a year and Nayeon didn't even know that Y/N came back. Nayeon kept staring at Y/N. Y/N's appearance changed a lot. She has a different hairstyle, the way she's dressed is also different. Or maybe it's just because she's at work right now. But most importantly her aura has changed. It's like she has a way more mature vibe going around her, which is very attractive to Nayeon. Suddenly Nayeon forgot why they even broke up in the first place. Aish Nayeon stop it, you can't fall for her again. Nayeon thought to herself as she shook her head.
"Y/N when did you come back?" Nayeon didn't mean to ask this so suddenly, but it just left her mouth like that. Y/N hesitated if she should answer the question or not, but decided that she should.
"I came back four months ago." Y/N can't even face Nayeon right now. I mean how can she, after everything she has done? It isn't only Y/N's appearance that has changed. Nayeon's also has changed. The older girl has shorter hair now and in Y/N's eyes she's even prettier than she used to be.
"Ow." Nayeon wished that she knew this. If she had known this, then she wouldn't have been in shock right now by seeing her.
"Is there anything else you want to ask? You know about apartments and all?"Â Y/N tried to change the subject.
"Oh no. I'll just check the e-mail you send me and I'll let you know." Nayeon said standing up.
"G-great."Â Y/N stuttered. The thought of seeing Nayeon again does something to her, but she doesn't know what. It makes her heart race.
"Bye Y/N." With that Nayeon left the room. As soon as Nayeon left the room, Y/N put her head on the desk as she sighed. She knew when she came back that there were chances of seeing Nayeon again, but she thought they were pretty low since Y/N doesn't go out that much. She never would've thought that Nayeon would show up at her office.
"Are you done? How did it go with Ms. Im and why are you sleeping?" Irene asked entering Y/N's office. The woman that lead Nayeon to Y/N, was Irene. They work here together.
"I'm not sleeping."Â Y/N said as she brought her head back up.
"How did it go with Ms. Im?"
"It went okay."
"Where do you know her from?" Irene isn't blind. She could see the shocked expression on both girl's faces when they saw each other. Her curiosity is building up.
"I don't know her."Â Y/N lied.
"Yah, Y/N! Don't lie to me! It's obvious that you two know each other." Irene scolded the younger girl as she sat down in front of Y/N's desk.
"I'm not lying."
"Then why are you so thunderstruck after seeing her, huh?" Irene can sense that the girl and whoever Ms. Im really is, don't have a very good past with each other.
"I'm not. But unnie, can you please take over? I don't think I'll be able to help her. So you should take over." To be honest Y/N doesn't want to work with Nayeon. She's not ready to do that. She hasn't fulfilled her promise yet, so she can't face her right now.
"Yah, you just told me that you don't know her and now you're asking me to take over? Not happening Y/N-ah." Irene shook her head.
"Unnie, please. I'm begging you, please."
"Y/N even if I could, I can't. You know how my uncle asked me to send all the clients that are looking for an apartment in this area to you. He'll get mad at me if I do YOUR job." Their boss is actually Irene's uncle. He is a known real estate agent in the area.
"Aaaah."Â Y/N yelled.
"I told you that we should've just stayed at the countryside. It was so peaceful there, but no you wanted to come back for whatever reason." Truth is Y/N didn't want to come back, but Irene insisted that both of them should go to the city.
"Y/N you know very well why we had to come back. As much as I love the farm and the countryside, we weren't doing financially well there. There was no work at all."
"I know, I know. We had to come back blah blah." Y/N has heard this story a million times by now, so she got tired of hearing it. It isn't just Y/N and Irene that came back, it's also Irene's family.
"Anyways, I have one appointment left so I need to go now."
"Yeah fine." Y/N answered and with that Irene left her office. As soon as Irene left Y/N sighed. This shouldn't have happened, she shouldn't have seen Nayeon. She's not ready at all. How will she work with her? How can she face the older girl without feeling guilty? Ever since Y/N left, guilt has been washing all over her. Not because she left but because she was such a horrible person at that time. She hurt Nayeon a lot and she noticed that way too late. This isn't what she had planned. Her plan was to show up when she was all ready and when she had become a person that Nayeon deserves. But she's not there yet. Even though she's a much better person now than she was before, she's still not where she wants to be. Her entire planning is messed up right now.
-----------------------------
"Ah Sana come in." Nayeon said when she saw the Japenese woman in front of her door. Sana does this all the time whenever she's bored. She doesn't even ask if she can come, she just comes.
"Why are you here? Didn't you have a date with Dahyun?" Nayeon asked as they both sat down on the couch.
"I was having a date with her but then suddenly Taehyung called saying that the gang is in trouble, so I had to leave Dahyun." Sana sighed.
"Did you lie to her again?" Sana hasn't told Dahyun about her being in a gang. So every time something comes up with the gang, Sana has to lie to her.
"I had to."
"Why don't you just tell her truth? How long are you planning to hide this? You know you can't hide it forever." Nayeon raised her eyebrows. She feels bad for Dahyun. Dahyun is kind of in the same situation as Nayeon used to be with Y/N, but at least Nayeon found out about it before she started dating Y/N, Dahyun still doesn't know after four months...
"Because I'm scared she'll leave me unnie. I really want to tell her, I hate lying to her, but I don't have the courage to tell her." Sana explained.
"It's best if she finds out from you. Do you want her to hear it from someone else? That will hurt her way more than hearing it from you."
"You're right. I will try to tell her. I also just don't want her to get involved. It'll be dangerous for her." Sana's words suddenly reminded Nayeon of Y/N's words. Y/N said the exact same thing to her before they started dating. And now she has a whole flashback to when she went to the real estate office and saw Y/N. She still can't believe she saw Y/N.
"YAH, UNNIE." Sana suddenly yelled startling Nayeon.
"You aren't listening to me are you? I've called your name like five times."
"Oh sorry, I didn't hear."
"What are you thinking about? You seem off." Sana has noticed how Nayeon has been dozing off ever since she came. She hasn't seen Nayeon like this in a while.
"N-nothing. Nothing." Nayeon shook her head.
"Unnie, I can tell you're lying. I know something's bothering you. Did something happen today? I mean you were fine at the coffee shop. Did something happen at the real estate office? Didn't you manage to find something?" Sana kept asking and asking so Nayeon decided to just tell her.
"Something weird happened today, Sana."
"What happened?"
"I saw Y/N today." Nayeon said weakly and Sana raised her eyebrows. Is she hearing her unnie right?
"W-what?" Sana hasn't heard Nayeon say Y/N's name ever since she left. Even when Sana mentioned something about Y/N, Nayeon always acted like she didn't hear it. So now after a year she's suddenly hearing the older girl say her name.
"Where did you see her? Is she back?"
"She works at the real estate office I went to. Apparently she's back." Nayeon answered.
"Did she come back recently? It just doesn't make any sense. Why didn't she call me or her friends if she's back?" Sana remembers the younger girl saying that she'll call her when the time's right, however Y/N is back and she never called Sana or Dahyun.
"I didn't talk to her that much since we were both in shock. She just acted professional and continued her work without mentioning anything. I wanted to ask her many things, but I couldn't. The only thing I could ask was when she came back and she said that she came back four months ago."
"Four months?? I can't believe she didn't call me aish. But anyways how do you feel after seeing her? You seem bothered."
"I honestly don't know how I feel, Sana. The moment I saw her my heart just stopped. I just never thought that I'd see her again and then suddenly there she was right in front of me." Nayeon sighed. Seeing the younger girl really brought back some memories that Nayeon was trying to forget. Truth is she had a hard time forgetting about Y/N and just when she started to move on, Y/N shows up.
"That's normal, unnie. I bet if it was me I would've had the same reaction. And it's way different for you since she's your ex-girlfriend." Sana smiled weakly. Sana actually wants to ask Nayeon more about her encounter with Y/N, but she figured that the older girl wouldn't like that. I mean how did Y/N end up working in a real estate office? It doesn't make any sense. As far as Sana knows, Y/N didn't even graduate.
"Yah, she's your ex-girlfriend too!" Nayeon raised her eyebrows.
"There's a difference unnie. I'm over her, you're not." Sana chuckled.
"Yah! Who said I'm not over her??" Nayeon hit Sana's shoulder.
"The way you act right now, confirms enough for me." Sana laughed.
"Shut the fuck up, this isn't funny." Nayeon pouted.
"I mean it kinda is though." Sana teased.
"Wait, does Dahyun actually know about your past with Y/N?" Nayeon never actually asked this since she tried to forget about Y/N. But now after seeing her ex-girlfriend, the question suddenly popped up.
"No, I didn't tell her." Sana shook her head.
"Yah, how many things are you hiding from her?"
"I'm not really hiding it. It just never came up. Besides why would I tell her? Y/N hasn't been around for a year, so I don't see why I should tell her." Telling her would make everything worse.
"Aish, I really hate the way you think sometimes. No wonder you're a gangster." Nayeon chuckled. Sana's way of thinking is actually very close to Y/N's. The way they think and the things they say is pretty similar sometimes. Maybe it's a gangster thing?
"You may hate the way I think, but you surely do love me." Sana said doing aegyo.
"Don't you ever do that again. Dahyun may like it, but I don't." Nayeon acted like she was disgusted. To be honest, she does like it when Sana does aegyo. The Japanese girl is very good at it, but the problem here is she does it waaaay too often.
"Yah, unnie why are you so mean? Besides don't act like you don't do aegyo either. At least it's cute when I do it." Sana smiled.
"I'm way cuter than you so shut up." With that Nayeon and Sana continued to talk until Sana decided to go home. After Sana went home, Nayeon decided to look at the apartments Y/N send her. There are some in between that grabbed her attention. They're in her budget, close to her school and they look nice as well. Y/N told her to contact her again if she sees anything she likes, but Nayeon is hesitant about contacting the younger girl. She's been doing okay after Y/N left, so she feels like if Y/N enters her life again, it'll be a huge mess. But maybe a part of her actually wants that to happen...
