Chapter 20

Weeks have passed by and Y/N and Nayeon have been doing pretty well. Y/N sometimes stays over at Nayeon's place and some of these times they have sex. But what is their relationship right now? None of them asked to be girlfriends. So are they friends with benefits? Or maybe just friends? How about teacher-student? None of these really sound right.

"Unnie, why do you keep looking at your phone? Are you expecting a text from someone?" Sana asked. The two of them decided to go out for a drink since it's saturday.

"N-no." Nayeon lied. Y/N hasn't been answering her texts all day and she's getting very worried.

"You seem anxious. Are you okay?"

"I'm okay, Sana-yah. Don't be worried about me."

"How is your tutoring going?" Sana has been tutoring some students that aren't very good at English, which includes Momo and Dahyun since they're not doing very well with the subject.

"It's going well." Sana smiled.

"I see you have some favoritism towards Dahyun huh?" Nayeon smirked. She noticed how the two of them got close. Sana and Dahyun already had a good student-teacher relationship last year when Sana was Dahyun's teacher. However they've gotten closer now that Sana is tutoring her.

"She's a good student but no different than the other students." Nayeon knows something is up between the two. She can see how Sana looks at the younger girl. It's the same way how she looks at Y/N.

"Yeah, yeah. I'm not blind I can see you're close with her."

"Don't act like you aren't close with your students. Especially Y/N." Nayeon's smirk disappeared.

"She's just my student Sana."

"Yeah, yeah. I've seen her in your car and I know you two have been visiting each other. I also see they way you look at her. I'm your best friend, unnie, I notice everything."

"Whatever." Nayeon shrugged it off.

"I need to tell you something about Y/N though." Y/N told Sana not to tell this to Nayeon, but as her best friend the Japanese thinks the right thing to do is telling her.

"What is it?" The older didn't think much of it. She thought she was going to say that Y/N caused trouble at school again so she didn't care that much.

"It's just euhm..." Sana got interrupted when Nayeon's phone rang.

"Ah, let me take this call."

"Are you Y/N's friend?" A man asked on the phone.

"Yes. Who are you?"

"I'm a friend of hers. Can you please come to her place? She's not doing well." The teacher doesn't remember Y/N telling her about a guy that's her friend. She only knows her friends from school.

"W-what happened?" Nayeon stood up from her chair, worry clear on her face which made Sana confused.

"It's best if you come and see yourself. Do you know where she lives?" The guy asked.

"Yes. I'm on my way, I'll be there in 10." With that she hung up and grabbed her bag and jacket.

"Unnie, what's happening?"

"I'm sorry Sana. I really need to go. It's an emergency. I'll explain later." She hugged Sana and ran to her car.

"I guess it wasn't the right time to tell her." Sana sighed to herself.

Nayeon drove as fast as she could to Y/N's place. She stopped the car and saw a guy standing in front of her door.

"Are you Nayeon?" He asked.

"Yes. Did you call me?"

"Yes. I'm Taehyung by the way."

"Uhm nice to meet you I guess. Where is Y/N?"

"Follow me." Nayeon followed the guy inside and saw Y/N on her bed. She had cuts on her face. Again. So Nayeon could already guess what happened.

"Ah fuck Y/N. Wake up please." She caressed the younger girl's hair.

"She's unconscious."

"What happened?"

"We were hanging out when we got bothered by some guys. They attacked us but we couldn't really handle them since they were with more so we ran away but Y/N suddenly fainted when we got here." After hearing the story Nayeon noticed that the guy's face didn't look very good either.

"Why does this keep happening?"

"I guess you don't really know why Y/N actually lives here and I'm in no position to tell you but honestly I'm worried about her so I'll tell you. You seem to care about her."

"I do. I care about her a lot." She looked at Y/N and her eyes got teary.

"I won't tell you everything since Y/N would kill me, but her dad, he is a gangster. He's actually the head of this neighbourhood. That's why we took her in, because she had nowhere else to go. Her father has many enemies so we kept it a secret that she lives here but I guess they found out." Nayeon is surprised. She thought Y/N's dad was dead. The student told her that she doesn't have parents but now she's suddenly hearing that her father is alive and he's a gangster?

"Are you a gangster too?"

"Yes. My whole family is. Y/N and I are childhood friends, our dad's are good friends but Y/N refuses to join since she hates her dad." He answered and they suddenly heard Y/N groaning, probably from the pain. She's awake now.

"Y/N, are you okay?"

"What are you doing here?" She sat up.

"I called her." Taehyung said.

"Why?" Y/N is mad that Nayeon once again had to witness her weak side.

"Because I was worried and she kept texting you so I decided to call her." Y/N sighed and stood up but her body couldn't take it so she collapsed.

"Y/N!" Nayeon and Taehyung yelled at the same time and helped her up.

"Can you help me bring her to my car?" Taehyung nodded and they put Y/N in her car. Y/N was awake but she was weak. Nayeon drove to her apartment and brought Y/N to her room. As soon as Y/N's head hit the pillow she fell asleep.

"Aish, what am I gonna do with you?" Nayeon examined the younger's face and caressed it.

"Seonsaengnim?" Y/N woke up and noticed she was in Nayeon's room but Nayeon wasn't there with her so she went out of the room to see her watching tv on the couch.

"Oh Y/N are you okay?" She immediately stood up and helped Y/N to sit on the couch.

"I'm okay, I'm okay. Don't worry."

"How can I not worry? You're making me worry more and more every fucking day. I can't stand it anymore."

"I'm sorry." Were the only words Y/N could say.

"I'll get you some food. I'm guessing you didn't eat all day." Nayeon was right, she didn't eat at all. Nayeon brought some ramyeon for her and she ate in silence. The older girl was just staring at her making her grow nervous.

"I guess Taehyung oppa told you what happened."

"Yeah, he did. I didn't know you even had a friend like him."

"He probably told you more than just what happened right?" She knows her friend well. He can't keep his mouth shut.

"He told me some things but not a lot. Just that your father is a gangster and that the people who attacked you are his enemies."

"You're curious about my past aren't you?" Y/N knows that Nayeon has a lot of questions in her head.

"You don't have to tell me if you don't want to, Y/N." The teacher doesn't want to pressure her. She can already guess that Y/N has been through a lot and it might be hard for the girl to open up about it.

"I think this is the right time to tell you. I trust you enough to tell you all of this. I haven't told anyone about this but I wanna tell you." Y/N is scared of telling her life story to Nayeon but the older girl is going to find out one day anyways. Nayeon sat down next to Y/N and Y/N started to talk about everything.

"My father is indeed a gangster. He's the head of the gangsters in the neighbourhood where I live, but he isn't around right now because he's in prison. He's been in prison for a while now. He's a psychopath, an actual psychopath. He has killed many people, guilty people and innocent people, including my mom. He killed her when I was 10, right in front of my eyes. They never liked each other, they just had a one night stand and that's where I came from. I was an accident. When the families found out that my mom was pregnant they told them to get married, which they did. My dad was never home, he was always out doing bad things and my mom tried to stop him many times but he wouldn't listen. He had anger issues so whenever my mom said something he beat her up. Then one night I was in my room and I heard them fighting downstairs. I wanted to hear what they were talking about so I went downstairs and saw him stabbing my mom." Y/N's eyes got teary while she was telling this story. She's tried to forget everything that happened for the past seven years but her past will always keep haunting her.

"Y/N..." Saying that Nayeon was shocked by what she heard is an understatement. How can you kill a child's mother in front of her eyes?

"I started crying and he saw me there. He took me, put me in his car and we drove somewhere far away and there he just left me. I didn't know where I was, I was fucking 10 years old for God's sake. I wandered in the streets all alone for like five days until the police noticed me and took me to an orphanage. I hadn't heard anything from him for three years, then I suddenly got a message from one of his gang members saying that he's in prison. He didn't get in prison for killing my mom though. He never got caught for killing my mom and it's making me fucking angry."

"W-were you close with your mom?" This is so sad.

"Yes, she was my world. She is the nicest woman that I have ever met. Everyone liked her. She was kind, friendly, trustworthy. The exact opposite from my asshole of a father." Y/N clenched her fist.

"Are you the only one that knows that he killed your mother?"

"Taehyung oppa knows as well and some of his gang members know too. Since my dad was a gangster he didn't let me be friends with normal kids, so Taehyung oppa was my only friend. We told each other everything and we both hated how our dads were doing bad shit."

"Isn't Taehyung a gangster now as well?" Nayeon recalls him telling her that.

"Yes, but he doesn't kill or hurt people. Actually none of the gang members have killed people except for my father. That's why he's the leader. Everyone is scared of him. Even when he's miles away stuck in prison, they're still scared of him."

"How did you end up in his neighbourhood though?" If Y/N hates her dad so much, why is she living in his neighbourhood?

"I didn't have anywhere to go after I got kicked out from my guardian's house. I looked for many places but couldn't find anything, so I asked Taehyung for help and he told me that there was a place in that neighbourhood. It really hurt my pride to go there but they were the only ones that accepted me."

"Does your dad know that you live there?"

"He didn't, but I think he found out recently. He's been sending me letters but I haven't opened any of them. I fucking hate that man for ruining my mom's life and my life as well. He's the reason behind all of my misery. Remember how I talked about having demons that one night?" Nayeon nodded. Of course Nayeon remembers. It was the night she told the younger to move in with her, but the younger refused because of her 'demons' which Nayeon never really understood what she meant.

"Well I was a very nice kid growing up, I looked after my mom a lot, but my dad  hated that. He didn't want me to be nice, he always told me to be rude to people and to not show any respect when they didn't deserve it. I was so scared of him that I eventually stopped being nice and put up an attitude. He always wanted me to be like him, and as a kid I was influenced by his behaviour a lot. My mom didn't try to stop him because she was scared as well. We lived our lives in fear."

"Is that why your attitude is like this now?" Nayeon knew that it was all an act, but now she finally knows the reason behind it too.

"Yes. You might ask yourself why I'm still like this when he hasn't been around for seven years now. And that's where the demons come. It's like ever since he left me on that street he's been in my head. Telling me to do bad things. I try to ignore the voices in my head and I try telling myself that I won't be like him, but sometimes I can't stop them. It gets too much. I have anger issues just like him. Everything I do is just like he does. I don't wanna be like him but the more I try to change, the louder these voices in my head get. It's driving me crazy and I'm scared. What if I become just like him? What if I'm a psychopath just like him? I'm so scared that I'll turn out like him." Y/N couldn't stop her tears and she let them fall down. She hasn't cried ever since she was a kid. For the first time ever Nayeon saw her student being vulnerable and her heart broke at the sight of it.

"Come here." Nayeon pulled Y/N into a hug and let her cry on her shoulder as she caressed and kissed her head.

"Listen to me, you're nothing like him and you won't become like him. You're not a psychopath, Y/N. You're a nice person that's just influenced by her bad father which is normal, he is your father after all. You might think that you inherited everything from your father, but there's so much in you that you've inherited from your mother as well. You're caring, you're smart and you have a beautiful personality that you're trying to hide. I never understood why you try to hide the real you but I understand everything now." Y/N cried even harder by hearing Nayeon's words.

"Unnie, I can't do this anymore. I've told myself many times that I won't become like him. But everyday I wake up angrier and everyday I get more the urge to do bad things. Instead of lessening my anger it gets worse. I've always ignored these voices but I can't anymore. It's getting too much." She pulled away, now facing her teacher.

"That's why I'm here. We'll get through this together okay? We'll work on your anger issues and I'll try to help you remind you of who you really are. You need to fight to get rid of these voices, Y/N. Please, don't give up." She caressed the younger's face.

"Why do you want to help me? Don't you think that I'm a psychopath?"

"No. In fact I'm 100% sure that you're not. You're just a kid that had a bad childhood. But you're a strong kid. You've managed to take control of these voices until now and that all by yourself. So please don't give up now. I'll do everything to help you."

"I love you, seonsaengnim. I love you so fucking much." Nayeon smiled weakly hearing that.

"I love you too Y/N. Way more than you think." She kissed the younger's forehead.

"What do you suggest I do now?"

"First of all you need to move out of that place as soon as possible. You don't need to live here if you don't want to, but just leave that place. Don't you think that's the main source of these voices? Everything there reminds you of him and not to mention that his enemies are after you. It's dangerous. So please for your safety don't stay there anymore." Nayeon is right, the voices became way worse when she moved there because everywhere she looked she saw his traces. Everything reminded her of him.

"How about we go to bed right now, huh? It's been a hard day for you. You should rest and we'll talk about the rest tomorrow." Y/N nodded and with that they went to bed. Y/N cuddling onto Nayeon just like a little kid. Until now it was always Nayeon that was the more vulnerable one. It was always Y/N who took care of Nayeon, but oh look at how the tables have turned.
