Secret Identity (completed)1,572 words~8 min read

Senna's POV

"She slid into your DM's?" He laughs.

"I don't know what you're talking about but yeah she sent me a private message. Why is that so funny?" I ask slightly annoyed.

I take another bite of pizza and try to change the subject. "Glamorous life of a rock star, huh? FIFA and cold room service pizza..."

"Don't try to change the subject. What did she say?"

"Nothing. She just said thanks and told me her name is Harriet, but to call her Harri." I reply dismissing his question.

"So she slid into your DM's and told you her name?"

"Yes. Why are you so surprised?"

He takes another bite of pizza. "I'm not surprised, I'm just saying that sliding into your DM's is a good sign, Lad. It means you're in."

"Seriously all I did was send this chick a comment and she sent me a message with her name. It's really not a big deal." I answer without elaborating on the contents of the message.

"Ah ha. So why are you getting so defensive then?" He prods.

I can feel myself getting angry. "I'm not getting defensive. You're just making this a big deal." I stammer.

He takes the last slice of pizza."Ok, ok. I'll drop it. I know that it's been tough lately with the tour and recording the new album. I just want to see you happy."

"So that's why the sudden interest in my social media activities?"

His tone gets suddenly serious, "yeah, I guess. I mean you got a secret account and you didn't even tell me. We used to talk about this stuff, Sen. Remember when we were at school and you, me and Beckett would talk about making it big? It was going to be us against the world?"

I laugh out loud. Much louder than I mean to. "Yeah, remember when Zander first told us that he thought the twins would make a good addition to the band? I could have sworn he was tripping on acid."

"Oh yeah, I thought he was mad." He says, zipping up his retro red Adidas jacket, bunching his fists up before shoving them deep into its pockets. "Beckett almost knocked him out he was so triggered."

I lean back on the bed putting my arms behind my head."Oh yeah. I forgot about that. I mean we laugh now but at the time it wasn't so funny."

"But, and don't tell him I ever said this, he was right. I mean Rafa and Luca are great. They really do add that extra something."

"Oh yeah, they're totally savage. I can't even imagine doing this without them now." I pause, thinking about the days only a few years ago when it was just Jax, Beckett and me. We used to rush home from school and rock out in my garage. My mum would bring us samples of her latest cooking experiments and Peyton was a one girl cheer squad.

Zander bringing the twins into the band was certainly a shock, and it wasn't without its troubles but honestly we all get along so well now that it's hard to imagine life without them. That's not to say there aren't the arguments because there are, particularly with Jax. He's not afraid to tell it like it is. Well at least the way he sees it and to be honest he has trouble keeping his mouth shut, mwhich means we sometimes have to censor him - he's had to delete quite a few tweets in our time but he means well and is kind of our unofficial leader. As much as he can be handful he is kind of the glue that holds us all together.

Jax and I have been best friends for as long as I can remember. When my Dad died it was Jax who was there for me. He never left my side. He never said a word to anyone about the nights I spent crying on his shoulder, him telling me it would be ok because we always had each other.

He had a tough life before the band too but he never lets it get to him, and if it does he'd never let you see it. I remember nights when his stepdad was on one of his benders and he'd get into with Jax's mum. Despite his small size Jax would step in, always acting the protector. He'd show up to my house shaking, covered in bruises, without saying a word. I never pushed, I figured if he wanted to talk, he'd talk. I just hoped in some small way that I could be his rock like he was mine.

I'd set him up on the floor of my bedroom and we'd stay up all night talking about life outside of McRae Crest and playing video games. Ultimately he'd fall asleep on the bed next to me, his makeshift bed on the floor remaining unused.

He always said that when we made it big he'd get his Mum and younger siblings out of there and he did. His step-dad being sent to prison made things a little easier but I know he counting down the days until he is released.

I guess that's one of the best things about our job, the ability to help our families. Although it's hard not to feel disconnected from them after being away most of the year but we do try. I think that's why Jax and I were so close on the tour, our friendship was kind of like our home.

When we first starting getting noticed we'd troll the internet and laugh about the stories fans would write about us. The fans nicknamed us "Sax", a cross between Senna and Jax. At first it was funny. But pretty quickly theories developed saying that we were more than just friends. We even started to play up to them but over time having every one of our interactions scrutinized unintentionally changed the way we started to act around each other in public and even in private. Though we never said it the rumours had an impact on our relationship and for the past few months our relationship has been a little strained.

I'm scared to admit it but I miss the days when we were just ourselves and weren't so worried about what people thought. I mean this is the first time in months we've hung out, just the two of us.

"Sen, you still with me?"

"Sorry J. Just got thinking about how it used to be. Remember those times we'd stay up all night and talk about living together?"

"Yeah?...." he replies, a tinge of sadness visible as he pushes some escaping strands of his fringe back under his hat.

"Why didn't we ever do that?" I ask casually.

"Don't know. I guess it all got too hard. We're never home and I mean imagine what they'd write if we did that now?" He rolls his eyes in frustration.

I pull at a loose thread on my sweatpants. "Since when did we worry about what people thought?"

"I don't know but I guess things changed somewhere along the line." He acknowledges what I already suspected. He looks down at his feet before grinning cheekily, "Are you saying you want to move in with me?"

I laugh. "Don't make it creepy. I'm just saying."

"Well since you asked so nicely, yes Senna, I'll move in with you."

"Really? I reply surprised. "And I didn't ask."

"Why are you so shocked? Yeah I know it's been a little awkward lately but I really miss the old times. It's about time we set up 'The House of Sax'." He laughs putting his fist in the air for a fist bump.

I ignore his fist. Instead I punch him in the arm. "Shut up! The last thing we need to do is bring that shit up again."

He rubs his arm, "yeah, although I'm not sure the fans will ever let that die."

"Oh, I know we should wear 'Team Sax t-shirts for the new album cover. They'd lose their shit!"

He laughs so hard he kicks his feet up knocking the empty pizza box off the bed. Crumbs and the left of over bits of cheesy crust fall everywhere.

I roll my eyes at him while brushing the crumbs off the bed. He finally calms himself down, "so a fake profile, huh?"

"Yeah, well it's not really fake. I believe it's called a Finsta. I mean it's probably more me than my official account." I answer truthfully.

"I know right? I'm not even allowed to write my own tweets anymore."

"Yeah, well. I guess that's what happens when you start threatening people on Twitter." I smirk.

"Shut up! It's not like I do it all the time but the guy was being a dick! He doesn't know anything about us."

"Settle down cowboy." I tease.

He shakes his head. "So you gonna reply to that chick? What's her name, Mary?"

"Harri" I correct him.

"Yeah, I guess. I mean she seems cool and she doesn't know who I am so at least I know if something comes of it that she likes me for me."

"I thought you said it was just a message and didn't mean anything?" He smirks nudging me.

"Piss off. She slid into my DM's didn't she?" I answer before adding, "whatever that means."
