Chapter 47 of 59

The truth- Phase one

Secret Identity (completed)1,927 words~10 min read

Senna's POV

After a long day of ball pit brainstorming and jamming we are ready to eat again. We make our way up the drive and the porch light comes on. It reminds me of the days when Jax and I were young and would play in the street and knew to come home for dinner because the street lights came on. Now here we are, years later, doing the same thing but now we are joined by Beckett and the twins.

The twins, who as a consequence of losing at mini golf, are now literally joined at the hip with Luca's right leg tied with a belt to Rafa's left leg. Giving them the use of only three legs between the two of them.

Jax, the budding director, is walking backwards a few steps ahead of them filming them for his Snapchat story. "Walk normally," he demands as they drag their joint leg up along the gravel while fighting one another for control.

"WE ARE!" they yell. Unlike their footwork, their voices are in sync.

Frustrated, Luca wraps his arm around Rafa's back and encourages Rafa to do the same to him. The change in position seems to strengthen their stance and they are finally able to pick up the pace. Much to Jax's satisfaction who continues to shout directions at them like it is his job.

Meanwhile Beckett runs his hands through his perfectly combed hair and flattens out his shirt. I swear he is such a Dad. While we are all in mismatched track pants and hoodies he chose to wear jeans and a dress shirt. Although looking at how uncomfortable he is I do seriously wonder if his outfit was his choice or his Mum's.

"How are you two going to go doing this all night?" he asks, concern etched on his face.

Luca rolls his eyes, "hello Beckett, we're womb-mates, room mates and band mates. I'm sure we can handle a few hours as conjoined....err... mates."

"But what about going to the toilet and stuff?" He asks scrunching up his face.

"Nothing I haven't seen before," Rafa says matter of factly.

"To be fair he probably had his arse in my face the whole time we were in the womb," Luca adds furthering their point.

I watch as Beckett chews over the answer, his lips still pursed like he's just bitten into a lemon. I'm guessing that since he is an only child that the closeness between siblings is something he is not familiar with. That as his Mum is a bit of a prude so I seriously think all forms of bathroom talk would have been banned in his house growing up.

Opening the front door, I announce our arrival to my Mum. I didn't tell her that the boys were coming over tonight but I'm sure she won't mind since she's been asking me non stop about it since I got home last week.  I also know for a fact that Peewee won't mind, especially since Beckett is here too.

As expected Mum comes running to the door. "Senna you didn't tell me the boys were coming," she cries, happily pulling Beckett and the twins in for an awkward group hug.

"If it's any trouble, Mrs Jager, we can always eat out," Beckett offers politely.

"Nonsense, Beckett. You know you boys are always welcome here." She looks down at the belt on the twins legs, but says nothing. "I hope lasagna is okay?" She sings, as she turns making her way back down the hallway.

We kick off our shoes and follow her, and the smell of melted cheese, to the kitchen. The table by the window is already set up for seven, complete with hand folded red cotton napkins. Mum has even bought out the the good silverware for the occasion.

I do wonder how she knew to cater for us all, but I stop short of asking her when she thrusts a bowl of salad and a pair tongs into my hand and gestures for me to put them on the table. I place the bowl along side a basket of bread rolls and shove the tongs in making sure to stab a large piece of tomato. "Mumma, where's Peewee?"

She smiling as the boys take their seats at the table. "Upstairs. Please let her know dinner is ready,"

"PEWEE!" I yell from the bottom of the stairs.

My Mum sticks her head through the doorway and points a cheesy ladle in my direction. "Senna, go get her. I could have done that myself," she chides.

My friends and I might sell out stadiums but I am still not above a scolding by my mother. At the sounds of the boys laughter I begrudgingly oblige her orders and drag myself up the stairs.

Opening Peyton's bedroom door I see her standing at her dresser with a face full of make up on, furiously brushing her hair. "Hey, Pewee, Mum said to tell y—-"

"You could have told me he was coming tonight, Sen!" she screams cutting me off. "I wasn't ready!"

"Would you like me to tell him to leave?" I tease, knowing how long she's held this crush on Beckett.

She doesn't answer, instead she pushes past me in a huff before running down the stairs to the kitchen. I follow closely behind lamenting the fact that I've been home all five minutes and have already managed to be told off by both women of the house. It makes me appreciate the simplicity of the boys. As long as they're fed and have had sleep they're usually pretty chill.

I take the last remaining seat at the table and watch as Peyton shamelessly flirts with Beckett, who looks more uncomfortable than I've ever seen him, which is saying something. This fact alone is the only thing stopping me from vomiting in my mouth.

"I love having you boys home," my Mum beams as the twins argue over the last piece of lasagna.

If there is one rule the twins live by it's that nothing comes between them and food. Even if that thing is each other. My Mum quells the argument by bringing out another tray of lasagna.

Like seriously, how did she know I was bringing the boys home? Intuition I guess.

After dinner we head to the lounge. Jax throws himself into the red leather recliner in the corner, "I'm so full I'm going to have to roll home."

"Good thing it's only down the street," Beckett adds.

Jax rub his stomach like a pregnant women absentmindedly, "yeah good thing."

The twins register the fact that Jax hasn't been home since Saturday having stayed at mine, but say nothing of it.

Luca takes a seat the piano running his hands over the keys, "so Senna, all set for phase one of the plan?"

"I guess so."

Jax sits bolt upright, "you guess? Sen, you need to play this with confidence."

"But what if this changes everything? She already told me she's not interested in dating someone in the public eye," I ramble, while simultaneously biting my lip.

"Senna enough!" Beckett says firmly. "Either it works or it doesn't. But you need to trust the universe. Whatever happens was meant to happen."

"When did you get all philosophical, Dad?" I deflect, setting the boys off into cascading fits of laughter.

"Change the subject all you want Senna, but you need to tell her, and soon." he replies ignoring their chuckles.

Jax pulls out his phone, "well I'm sending the message now so you better get ready too, Sen."

We spend the next ten minutes as a group constructing the message. As a result of our brainstorming session it had been decided that Jax would DM Jazz from his official Gate Thirty Four Twitter account, telling her she'd won G34 merchandise. He would then ask her for address and strike up a conversation, which I'm guessing wouldn't be hard given we all know she's in his lane.

Somehow we rationalised that this way he could determine if Jazz liked him for him, or not. Something about asking her to pick between both versions of him, without knowing they were one and the same.

To be honest I was so preoccupied thinking about telling Harri the truth that I didn't really take the time to figure out how it would all work.

"Sent! It's your turn now Senna." Jax announces proudly.

"Can't back out now that Jax has got the ball rolling," Luca offers. I'm sure he's trying to be supportive but all it's doing it putting me on edge.

After all our planning I'm still not really sure what it is I'm meant to be doing. Essentially they decided that I need to tell Harri the truth. For her sake and for mine, since they know it's only a matter of time before I slip up or before our fans uncover everything.

After a pretty intense debate the boys decided that this needed to be done face to face. I'm guessing this is so she can't run away, although to be fair I think at this stage I'm more inclined to be doing the running.

"Senna, don't stress about it. She'll be into it," Rafa says reassuringly.

I rub the back of my neck and take a deep breath, "she's not like other girls, Raf."

"No kidding. I've never seen you like this over a girl before," he soothes, patting my shoulder for good measure.

An hour later I find myself sitting alone on the couch. The boys had all gone home, including Jax who decided it was about time he faced his mother.

I'm deep in thought, when my phone buzzes.

"I've decided to name the teddy, Peter Parker," she writes.

Even her texts make me smile, "Okay..."

"Do you want to know why?"

"You have a thing for Spider-Man?"

"No. Give up?"

"You want to make out upside down."

"No! Okay, yes. But that's not why."

I take a note of the the upside down make out session idea. "Okay, tell me...."

"Well you said I could hug him when you're not here. And since Peter Parker has a secret life and you have a secret life...."

Shit. I mean shiitake. "Uh, Harri. I...."

"Relax, SJ. I know you'll tell me about your secret drug dealing stripping ways when you're ready."

Phew. I breathe an actual sigh of relief. "Lol. Does that make me Spider-man?"

"Does that mean you're going to save me from this hell hole?"

"Does that mean you miss me?"

"Will you come if I say yes?"

"Maybe...."

"Then maybe I miss you ;)"

"Haha-harsh!"

";)"

"Sorry SJ, I have to sleep now. Can we FaceTime tomorrow?"

"Admit it. You want to FaceTime me, because you miss me?"

"'Maybe..."

"Okay. I miss you <3"

"I miss you too, My Queen."

"Sleep well xx"

"Of course I will, I have Peter Parker to keep me warm xx"

Author's note:

Hey everyone 👋

I really wanted to get this chapter up today but I admit I struggled to write it- I know that as soon as Harri finds out the truth the book is all but done, unless I really want to drag it out. 😂😂.

I promise we're getting closer though (as much as I'm not ready to let them go).

Having said that... my brain is already running wild with ideas for a sequel 😂

Next chapter will be up early next week. Its going to be Serri heavy!
