Chapter 29 Help It was NormanâEmilia had actually lured her into meeting Norman here. âYouâve gone too far, Emilia!â
Diane was enraged by this, and she shook off Emiliaâs hand after reaching the end of her patience.
Meanwhile, Emilia furrowed her brows with a look of displeasure. âWhatâs wrong? I know a little about what happened between you and Norman. Isnât this Stellaâs fault, that homewrecker? Itâs completely normal, though! Isnât it normal for a talented young man with handsome looks and a decent paying job like Norman to have a few women eyeing him? Mom said itâs not easy to preserve a marriage, Diane, so you shouldnât keep talking about getting a divorce. You two may have a talk with each other, and I shanât bother you guys any longer. By the way, Normanâ¦â she said while turning to look at Norman with a grin. âThanks for the bag.â She lifted the dark green sheepskin satchel on her back and patted it.
Diane fumed with rage when she saw the satchel. âDid you lure me here just for a bag? Arenât you my younger sister, Emilia?â
âI am. Iâm just doing this for your own good. After all, Norman told me that heâs realized his mistakes.
Ainât I right, Norman?â
Upon hearing Emiliaâs words, Normanâwho had risen to his feetânodded repeatedly with a placating smile. âYeah, youâre right. I know that what happened before is all my fault, Diane. I have let you down, so Iâm here today to apologize to you.â
As he walked up to Diane, Emilia said delightedly with a clap of her hands, âAll right, I can be considered to have saved a broken marriage. You two may talk since Iâm leaving. By the way Dianeâ
donât forget about getting me a job.â Having reminded her sister as if she was rightful to do so, she turned around and actually left. Before she went off, she even closed the door of the private room.
Norman was wearing a broad smile, but Diane didnât even bother to look at him right now. She also turned around without a word, but before she could take a step, he suddenly jumped in front of her, stretched out his hands, and stopped her. âNow that youâre here, are you going to leave without saying a word to me, Diane?â
âWhat else can we talk about?â Diane looked up and glared at him.
The smile on Normanâs face had faded; it was replaced by an expression that Diane found hard to describe. His smile had a trace of irony and resignation to it, and it seemed like the shameless expression that local bullies and loafers wore while pestering ladies on the streets. âDiane, itâs only been a few days since we got a divorce. Wouldnât it be improper for you to be so cruel just days after getting out of my bed?â
âGet out of my way, Norman.â Diane furiously stretched out her hands and shoved Norman away, but he took this opportunity to grab her wrist. With a sharp pull, he swept her into his arms.
The sudden hug made Diane panic, and it gave her goosebumps all over her body. âWhat are you trying to do?â Panic showed in her eyes spontaneously. Meanwhile, Norman smiled as he lowered his head and stared at the face that he once disliked but was now interested in. âDonât worry, I wonât do anything to you today. I just want to bargain with you.â
Diane was very irritated; she struggled fiercely a few times but didnât manage to break free of Normanâs hold. âShoot.â
Norman asked, âNow that youâre Christopherâs wife, I wonât pester you for this. However, isnât it too much of you to treat me like this right now? I got promoted to director at NG Enterprise with my own capabilities, yet Iâve been removed from my position because of a word from you. A day together as husband and wife means endless devotion for the rest of your life, Diane. Is this how youâre treating me?â A fierce glint flickered in his eyes as he spoke, his arms tightening around Diane like a rope to such an extent that she was almost suffocating.
Diane retorted, âYou know in your heart that we got a divorce because you cheated on me with Stella in the first place, so Iâm not to blame, Norman. As for your position as a director, I can only say that I know nothing about it. If you feel indignant about this, you should go to Mr. Waddington or Christopher. Only these two people have the capability to put you back in that position, not me.â
âHmph.â All of a sudden, Norman snorted coldly. As he held Diane in his arms with all his might, he said between clenched teeth, âJust cut that sh*t out. I didnât offend Christopher, so why would he pick on me if it werenât for you? Youâre the one responsible for this, Diane!â
Since he clung to his views, Diane understood that it was no use for her to argue with him, so she decided not to do so. Instead, she asked, âIn that case, what do you want? Do you want me to beg Mr.
Waddington to let you have your job back?â
âYou donât have to go through such trouble,â Norman flatly refused while staring at Dianeâs face with a smile. âThe Wayne Family is fabulously rich, and Christopher himself has a personal wealth of hundreds of billions. Arenât you Mrs. Wayne already? Getting tens of millions shouldnât be a problem for you, right? I donât want much, Diane. Give me the money, and Iâll disappear from your sight at once and never bother you anymore. Wouldnât that be better?â
âTens of millions?â Diane clenched her teeth in anger. âYou and your mother really are a good match.â
What a pair of bloodsuckers, she thought to herself.
âIndeed, thatâs quite a lot of money, but it depends on who youâre asking that money from. Itâs an astronomical figure to ordinary people, but itâs not a big deal to Christopher. Since heâs able to marry a divorcee like you, he must care a lot about youâheâll definitely pay the money.â
âDream on!â yelled Diane as she couldnât restrain her anger. âHeâll never give money to a person of vile character like you. Just go straight to Christopher if you can, Normanâletâs see if heâll give you the money!â
âHeheâ¦â Norman let out an indifferent sneer. Then, he tightened his arms around Dianeâs waist with so much strength that he nearly broke it. âAsking you for the money would be more convenient than going to him, donât you think so? Since weâve been together for such a long time, I believe that you still have feelings for me, donât you?â he asked in a flippant tone while lowering his head to kiss Diane.
Dianeâs insides were churning as she pushed Normanâs chest with all her might. On second thought, she opened her mouth and shouted, âHelp! Somebody, please help me!â
Normanâs face clouded over at her words, and he raised his hand and clamped it over her mouth.
âWhat are you shouting for? Shut up!â It was apparent from his lowered voice that he was nonetheless afraid.
Diane couldnât make a sound as Norman covered her mouth, but her brain was working at full speed, trying to find a way to free herself. Unexpectedly, Norman immediately dragged her all the way toward the sofa in the room. Then, he hurled her onto the sofa and threw himself on top of her.
This posture⦠Diane panicked at once. âThis is a cafe, Norman! Donât do anything reckless!â
âWho cares? Can they butt in when Iâm making out with my wife?â
âStella is your wife!â Diane shouted while struggling. As he sat on top of Diane, Norman grabbed her hands while looking at her malevolently. âYou ran away last time, but you wonât be so lucky this time.
Listen carefully, Diane. I never thought of doing this to you, but since you and Christopher have pushed me into such a situation, I canât stand by and do nothing. Just give me 50 million and Iâll flee from Fairview CityâIâll never show up in front of you two again so that you guys may live your days as happily as you like. However, Iâll never let you off if you give me even a single cent less than that amount.â
Norman fixed Diane with the look of a man-eating beast, making her feel as though she was bleeding all over from being stabbed. As soon as he finished his sentence, he clutched her collar and fiercely pulled it apart, ripping her blouse open with a tearing sound.
âYouâre an *sshole, Norman! You⦠Helpâ¦â Diane sobbed loudly, but to her horror, Norman didnât violate her. Instead, he picked up a cell phone on the table and aimed its camera at her fair and alluring body.
