Chapter 2069 The Tanner Family Gets a Head Start
âMs. Quillen, itâs nearly impossible to purchase food and clothing. Due to the disaster, prices have skyrocketed, especially with food. Even with money, itâs nearly impossible to buy enough,â Lexi reported back to Mackenzie.
Anthony, who had been lamenting behind Mackenzie, overheard Lexiâs report, and his face fell even further. Fortunately, Quintus raised his massive fist in warning, silently warning Anthony not to dare cry again.
âLooks like weâll have to host a charity drive,â Mackenzie sighed softly. This was her last resort, and she wasnât sure how effective it would be.
Thankfully, both she and Lexi were experienced event planners, and they could organize the charity drive without much trouble. But Lexi immediately added, âMs. Quillen, when I was coming back, I noticed that someone else beat us to it. Thereâs already a largeâscale charity performance and donation drive happening in Vinehurst. Theyâve announced that all proceeds will go to the disaster victims, and thousands of people are already lined up to attend the event.â
âWhat?â Mackenzie was taken aback and quickly asked, âWho has such a big pull?â
âItâs Maestro Isabella Moretti, along with her newly accepted inner disciple, Yuna Tanner, one of the Four Beauties of Zovince!â Lexi replied quickly, her expression filled with worry.
âIsabella Moretti and Yuna Tanner?â Mackenzieâs heart sank as an uneasy feeling washed over her.
âYes, exactly!â Lexi whispered in Mackenzieâs ear, âMs. Quillen, Maestro Morettiâs reputation is renowned throughout Chanaea, and her influence is enormous.
According to my investigation, sheâs also Teddy Tannerâs younger sister, and una is his niece! Hosting this charity event in Vinehurst is clearly a move to boost the Tanner familyâs position in the upcoming Chamber of Commerce election!â
Mackenzie nodded, sharing the same concern.
âMs. Quillen, what do we do now?â Anthony asked, even though he hadnât heard the quiet conversation between Lexi and Mackenzie. He had clearly overheard the part about the charity event. Slapping his thigh in frustration, he said, âFor most people, it doesnât matter who holds the charity event itâs all for the disaster victims. But for us, the implications are entirely different!â
Mackenzie understood that all too well. In fact, she was even more anxious than Anthony. If stomping her feet could help, sheâd have done it harder an faster than him.
âMs. Quillen, you need to say something!â Anthony urged her frantically. âIf Maestro Moretti is personally leading this charity event, the people of Vinehurst will donate their supplies to her! Even if we organize a charity even weâll be competing against her, and I doubt weâll collect much!â
âStop your constant whining! Youâre distracting Mackenzie from thinking. Keep it up, and Iâll knock you out!â Quintus growled, raising his fist once again.
âQuintus, calm down,â Mackenzie intervened, then turned to Anthony, who was trembling with fear. âMr. Quail, youâre right. We canât hold another charity event in Vinehurst and go headâtoâhead with Maestro Moretti. Instead, we need to send a team to collaborate with them, helping to expand their efforts. After all, our goal is the sameâto help the disaster victims.â
ter words instantly enlightened Anthony, who broke into a smile. âHaha, youâre right, Ms. Quillen! As long as the disaster victims are taken care of and weâve done our part, the public wonât criticize us!â
Mackenzie smiled. âIn that case, why not take your people and go help them now?â
âRight, right, Iâll get on it right away!â
Anthony hurried off, eager to assist with the charity event.
âHaha, Mackenzie, youâre really clever. That whiny crybabyâs finally gone! So, does this mean this problem is solved?â Quintus complimented.
Alas, Mackenzie could only shake her head with a bitter smile. âIâm not so sur if Mr. Quailâs issue is resolved, but my problems are certainly piling up.â
âWhat?! Thisâ¦â Quintus, simpleâminded as he was, couldnât grasp all the complications Mackenzie was dealing with.
âLexi, make arrangements for us to attend Maestro Morettiâs charity event.
Letâs see if thereâs any way we can help out,â Mackenzie ordered, then paused for a moment before adding with a wry smile, âIâd also like to see Maestro Moretti in action myself.â
âYes, Ms. Quillen, Iâll arrange it right away, Lexi responded, hurrying off.
Before long, the group set off for a stadium in Vinehurst. Unlike more developed cities like Eldoria, the West End region had a weaker economy, and Vinehurst didnât have dedicated venues for theater or opera. The most suitable place for the charity performance was the public sports stadium.
When Mackenzie stepped out of the car, she realized there was still quite a distance between them and the stadium.
âMs. Quillen, there are too many people. The car canât get any closer!* Lexi quickly explained.
Mackenzie glanced ahead, and sure enough, the crowd was massive. The enthusiasm of the local people was just as intense as in larger cities!
However, it was clear the average level of organization wasnât highâthe scene was chaotic, to say the least.
âWow, Daddy, look at that beautiful lady! is she one of the Four Beker off qvince? Is she Ms. Yuna Tanner, the one you always tak about? A little girl in the crowd suddenly pointed at Mackenzie, shouting loudly,
âShh, Ginny! Donât talk so loud! If your mom hears, Iâm done for Her father quickly covered her mouth and picked her up. But the mention of Yundâs name sent the nearby men into a frenzy.
âYuna Tanner? Where is she?â
âLet me see how pretty she really is! I heard sheâs got an amazing figure!
âThey say the Four Beauties of Zovince are so beautiful itâs unreal. One look can make a man lose his mind!â
One man after another grew more and more frenzied. They hadnât seen Yuna, but they saw Mackenzie. Many people didnât know the difference, and soon, they started surging toward her in a frenzy.
âMs. Yuna! Youâre so beautiful!â
âAre you performing today? I came just to see you! Iâm willing to donate-
clothes, food, whatever you need!â
âYeah! Iâll give you my life if youâll let me take a picture with you!â
The already chaotic scene quickly escalated into an even more unruly mess, with shoving and trampling starting to occur in the frenzy.
Protect Ms. Quillen!â Quintus shouted. The experts from the Wolf Warrior Unit immediately formed a protective circle around Mackenzie, keeping the crazed crowd at bay.
Suddenly, the cries of a child pierced the air. Mackenzie saw with her own eyes that the little girl named Ginny had fallen to the ground and was being trampled by the crowd.
âQuintus! Quickly, save her!â Mackenzie ordered, her eyes filled with a mix of sorrow and urgency.
She hadnât expected her presence to cause such chaos, and she certainly hadnât anticipated that anyone would get hurt because of it. As Quintus and his team moved to rescue the child and began dispersing the crowd, a graceful young woman stepped forward, reaching Ginny before anyone else.
he scooped the injured girl into her arms with ease.
