Hazel Tanner, Chaseâs Wife
âDarling, please pardon them. They are my friends, and not everyone is as knowledgeable as a
daughter of the famed Tanner family,â Chase said while projecting an air of chivalrous charm.
Roselynnâs stomach churned in disgust upon hearing that. No one knew him better than she did. In her
mind, he was even more repulsive than Jaxton in certain respects.
For one, there was his hypocrisy.
During her time in university, she had agreed to date him because the pretentious and hypocritical act
he put on had fooled.
her.
He had sworn not to initiate or push her into having sex before marriage. He even acted all self-
righteous about that oath.
However, within two days of that promise, she would catch him red-handed cheating on her by walking
into the room to find him naked in bed with another woman.
That was the start of her nightmares.
She only found the idea of marriage repulsive because of all the nightmares that spawned from that
relationship. It was only through Emmanuel and Mackenzieâs encouragement as well as efforts at
matchmaking that she allowed herself to respond to the emotions incited by Julianâs sincerity. While
she did decide to befriend him, she was still very cautious and wary about the relationship.
âRoselynn, how nice to meet you again. How have you been?â Chase asked Roselynn with a smile on
his lips.
The smile would have fooled Emmanuel into thinking Chase was actually an attractive and refined
gentleman if Emmanuel had not seen through Chaseâs act
early
âMy life is good without youselynn sneered at him, unwilling to bother with fake pleasantries.
However, the awkward tension in the air did not affect Chase. Instead, he put on the look he usually
like to put on, the kind that implicitly criticized the other person by showing that he was a mature man
who would magnanimously tolerate and pardon their immature behavior.
âDarling, who is she?â the woman in pink asked in an agitated voice.
âMy ex-girlfriend, Roselynn Lowe. We broke up many years ago,â Chase honestly replied.
âOh, so sheâs just a woman who helped you on your path to being an experienced man.â
The woman in the pink dress did not look jealous at all. With a forgiving expression on her face, she
generously held a hand out for Roselynn to shake. âI am Hazel Tanner of Onzaâs Tanner family and
Chaseâs wife. Thank you for letting him practice on you. You have turned him into a sweet and caring
husband for me.â
Emmanuel immediately scowled when he heard that. That is incredibly insulting. In fact, it is even more
insulting than if she had just cursed and shouted at Roselynn.
âDonât thank me. I should be thanking you for taking in my unwanted trash. You have greatly
contributed to keeping Yeringhamâs environment clean.â
Roselyon did not even falter as she responded with a smile of her own.
Youâre not the only one who knows how to use backhanded compliments. Fear is a word that does not
exist in my dictionary anyway.
âYouâ¦â
Hazelâs face immediately turned bright red. Evidently, she had not expected a mere commoner to argue
back. Does she have a death wish?
âHazel, thereâs no need for you to debase yourself by talking to Roselynn. Perhaps you two are not
meant to be friends.â

Chase had spoken as if he was a wise and cultured scholar.
While Roselynn was used to his habit of doing so, she still could not resist the urge to gag. The
revulsion she felt had never gone away ever since she found out that Chase was a hypocritical man
who only pretended to be a gentleman.
No! The disgust is worse now!
In the past, Chase only used his looks and silver tongue for picking up girls instead of climbing the
social ladder. However, he was now clearly using those tricks he learned become a freeloading
husband. It felt like she was looking at a servant
man talking to his wife.
groveling and sucking up to his mistress instead of
âHazel, why donât you head into the VIP lounge and enjoy some quality tea to cool down? Iâll joining you
shortly after this.â
Chase successfully persuaded her to leave.
âHmph! Chase is right. You arenât even worthy of talking to me.â
Hazel then haughtily strutted away.
âWhat a joke! You act as if Iâm here to chat you up. You really are great at thinking highly of yourselves
and psyching yourselves up. Itâs no wonder that you think youâre actually that great.â
Roselynn always had to have the last word in an argument.
That infuriated Hazel so much that she was fuming while stomping away. However, she had just said
Roselynn was unworthy of talking to her. If she argued back, she would be slapping herself in the face.
Emmanuel had no interest in dealing with people like Chase. He was confident that Roselynn would
always come out on top in any argurnent. Thus, when he discovered that obtaining a VIP membership
at the clinic would not be an easy task, he decided to walk out so that he could call Rhea.
After all, it was Rhea who had recommended the clinic to him.
âYou should have told me earlier if you wanted to buy herbs from Skyrin Medical Clinic. There was no
need to go through the trouble of going there yourself.â
Rhea had spoken with a voice that rang with pride,
âOh? That sounds like you can help me obtain a VIP card,â Emmanuel curiously remarked with an
implicit question in his words.
According to what he found out from the receptionist, Skyrin Medical Clinic mainly catered to the elite
members of society. Thus, while the average customer could purchase the common herbs from the
clinic, most of the rare herbs were only sold to their VIP members.
