Maria pov
The next three days crept slowly along. They were dreary and even the blissfully ignorant pups were mourning the loss of Alpha Issac. Luna Hayley had been gone for a few years, since the year I was born actually. I had grown fond of our Alpha, he was a kind and generous man.
"Papa!" I called downstairs while picking up my shine spray for my hair. "Which black dress is more proper for the burial?" My adoptive father is our pack's third Tom. When Ryder is ready Papa will step down from his position.
"The one that has the high collar and the skirt that looks like a mullet." he shouted up. I giggled at his description.
"Okay Papa!" I hurried to get changed. I didn't want to be late. I slid my feet into my heels and wobbled down the stairs.
"Yes Jeremy, I'm bringing her now." Papa looked at me and playfully rolled his eyes. "No, Maria is driving. Yes, we'll be careful. Bye Alpha."
"Jeremy is stressed, isn't he?" I smiled sadly. I missed Jeremy. He had canceled school in our territory for two weeks yesterday and the entire student body and staff just didn't bother to show up since the loss.
"Well, after the death of his father and his new position, I'd be surprised if he wasn't." Papa smiled grimly.
"When will Matt and Ryder take their postitions?" I asked.
"When they want to, I guess. Now concentrate on the road." Papa guffawed. I smiled and shook my head.

"Alpha Issac was a great Alpha and father. He lead with a passion not often seen. He raised three strong, intelligent sons." The priest was speaking. I began to tune out, thinking of all my memories in the pack house with Alpha Issac's family. All the cookies and games of hide and seek, the sleepovers and family dinners. Life was changing, and I hoped the boys were ready for it.
As they lowered the casket, the Alpha's sons held each other. I don't know why but I felt a loss greater than the lost of my Alpha. It felt like I lost a father. I shuffled solemnly to the boys and embraced the group. Suddenly I was in the middle and was being squeezed in a deathly hug.

I was laying in the pack house's living room eating raw cookie dough out of the tube when the front door opened. I tilted my head to the right to see who just walked in. Ryder laughed at the sight of me. The cookie dough spoon was in my mouth and my hair was all tousled and knotted. I had changed out of my dress and was dressed in a baggy sweatshirt and sweatpants.
"Comfortable much?" Ryder chuckled. I stuck my tongue out at him and stuck my middle finger up at him. The next thing I knew I was underneath Ryder being tickled. I was kicking and flailing my arms.
"Matt! Jere-bear!" I screamed. I heard them thundering down the stairs and I was giggling harder. It proved to be a bad decision when three pairs of arms were tickling me.
"Papa! Papa! Papa!" I yelled. "Save me from the big bad wolves!" it was hard to get it all out between giggles.
I could hear Papa's leisurely footsteps gently thumping down the stairs. I had tears running down my face I was laughing so hard.
"What are you kids up to?" I could hear the grin on Papa's face. I squirmed out of the dog pile and jumped behind Papa.
"Nothing Tom, just tickling Maria." Matt laughed.
"Just a friendly dog pile." Ryder joked.
"Training Maria, Escape Under Attack is a vital skill to have." Jeremy stood up and straightened his t-shirt. I ran out and lightly smacked him.
"And how is tickling me teaching me anything about that?" I asked raising my eyebrow. Jeremy smiled nervously.
"Laughing strengthens your core?" Jeremy asked more than stated. I scrunched my nose off and counted to three on my fingers. The boys' eyes went wide and they took off running. I bolted after them with revenge on my mind.

Two hours and four sopping wet werewolves later, we returned to the house. Laughing and shoving each other around we stumbled into the living room. Kylie and her minions were standing there.
"Ew, like, why are you wet?" She spat at me, obviously not minding that Jeremy, Matt and Ryder's muscles were showing through their wet shirts. "Nobody, like, wants to see a drowned rat, like, ew!"
"That's why you're dry isn't it?" I shot back before doing a nasally voice like Kylie's. "Like, totally ew!"
The Matt and Ryder started cracking up with laughter and Jeremy tried to stifle his chuckles. Kylie's cheeks went red. She stomped out of the room like a toddler. I could faintly hear her whiny voice say "She's like, not even cool."
I turned to the boys and lost it. I was laughing so hard I was sure I sounded like a walrus. I started to climb the staircase as a group of sixteen year old boys from our pack walked in and whistled at my wet clingy clothing. I ran up the stairs as I heard three growls, not wanting to know how it ended.
