Upon hearing this, Oliver resignedly said, âGrandpa, this is Josefina, the one who saved you.â
The moment Brandon heard that, his face fell. He watched the stunning Josefina and then glanced at his eldest grandson and couldn't help but think they looked like a match made in heaven.
If she wasn't his granddaughter-in-law now, who was to say she wouldn't be in the future? With that thought, Brandonâs mood was sweet as honey, all sunshine and rainbows.
The usually formidable old man was now grinning like a Cheshire cat.
Josefina was totally confused. The kindly old chap had thrown her for a loop.
Oliverâs brow furrowed. With just one look, he knew his grandpa was up to something.
Brandon, all charm and smiles, said warmly, âJosie, thanks a million for saving me. You literally brought me back from the brink. Iâve gotta properly show my gratitude.â
Josefina, ever so gracious, replied, âOliver has already compensated me for the medical expenses. No need to mention it. As a doctor, itâs just what I do.â
Brandon leaned against the headboard, gazing at the polite and generous Josefina, and felt genuinely pleased. âBut that simply wonât do. You saved my life, and I must properly thank you. Josie, are you seeing anyone?â
Caught off guard by Brandonâs question, Josefina paused but then answered under his hopeful gaze, âNo, Iâm not.â She responded because he reminded her of her mentor â that same kind and gentle demeanor made her miss her mentor a little.
Oliver noticed Josefinaâs discomfort and said icily, âGrandpa, it seems youâre quite alright now.â
Brandon shot Oliver an irritated look but turned back to Josefina with a beaming smile. âJosie, what do you think of my grandson here? Oliverâs twenty-five, no bad habits. And since youâve saved me, maybe this lad should repay you with his hand in marriage, huh?â
The two of them stood there, really looking like the perfect couple.
Josefina helplessly offered, âBrandon, since you're fine now, Iâll be on my way.â She hadnât even made it to her biological parentsâ house yet with this incident on the road. Without further ado, Josefina made her exit.
Oliver quickly followed her, his long, straight legs making swift strides. âJosefina.â

Oliver unlocked his phone, opened the dial pad, and handed it to Josefina. âMy grandpaâs condition is a bit touch-and-go. Could you leave your contact information so I can reach you if necessary?â
Josefina took the phone, keyed in her number, and then strode away with purpose. Oliver held the phone, his sharp gaze following Josefina until she stopped beside a man.
He watched Josefina exchange a few words with the driver, Ryan, before they walked away. His assistant George glanced over and said to Oliver, âMr. Oliver, that guy looks like a driver from the Harrison family.â
Was a driver from the Harrison family hanging out with this top-notch doctor? And besides, she wasnât the Harrison familyâs daughter.
Oliver kept his counsel, remaining silent until Josefina disappeared from view. Gazing at the number on his phone, he turned and headed back to the hospital room.
Brandon was in a foul mood, especially seeing Oliver return alone, which made it even worse. Scowling at Oliver, Brandon grumbled, âWhat are you looking at? Keep staring, and youâll end up a loner forever.â
