Josefina rolled up to the farm on the west outskirts, which looked like any regular old farm but was actually her secret lab in disguise. She tinkered away the whole afternoon and whipped up antidotes for Garrett, Hattie, and Clover.
Percy watched Josefina work her magic with the meds and couldnât help but moan, âBoss, canât you leave some glory for the rest of us? Youâre killing it! You make those medical profs look like amateurs.â
Josefina packed up the antidote and said, âThe next steps are on you. Whip up the meds and hit me up when youâre done. Then Iâll swing by for the experiments.â
Percy nodded like a bobblehead. âYou got it. Iâll buzz you the second Iâve got news.â
Luke strolled in and announced, âBoss, last monthâs earnings were transferred to your bank account. If Billy knew he was duped and treated trash like treasure, heâd probably puke his guts out.â
Percy scoffed, âServes him right! If it werenât for you constantly cleaning up his messes, his company wouldâve gone belly-up ages ago. Now heâs crossed you, so bankruptcy is just desserts!â
Josefina looked up. âBillyâs bankrupt?â
Luke replied, âHeâs on the brink. Your father got involved. And after you pulled your collab from his company, given his track record, you think he can turn things around?â
Percy chimed in, âItâs high time Billy realized whoâs the real lucky charm in the Antonio family!â
Josefina couldnât help but chuckle at their banter, and with a smile, she said, âAlright, Iâm outta here.â
She drove off and made it back home by five in the afternoon. As soon as she stepped in, Josefina caught Lena and Hattieâs laughter echoing from the living room â a heartwarming mother-daughter moment if there ever was one.
Josefina walked in. Her glowing skin and delicate features exuded the unmistakable aura of the Harrison familyâs heiress.
The servants greeted her with utmost respect, âWelcome back, Miss.â The title âMissâ made Lenaâs face flicker. She felt like sheâd been pricked in the heart.
Lena stepped forward with a smile plastered on her face. âWelcome home, Josefina.â
Josefina nodded and made a beeline for Hattie. âHeard youâre fond of chestnut pastries, so I picked some up for you on my way.â

âNo worries,â Josefina replied, taking a seat next to her with a gentle smile.
Lena clenched her fists, feeling like Josefina was finding ways to embarrass her. Sheâd rushed back from abroad without bringing any gifts for the family, yet Josefina managed to bring Hattie a treat.
Lena moved over to sit by Hattieâs side and, with a grin glued to her face and phone in hand, she said, âI feel bad. I was so eager to get home and I didnât know youâd be back, so I didnât get you anything. How about I send you some money to welcome you home?â
Josefina opened her payment code on her phone and held it out to Lena. âThanks.â
Lena was stunned. Was Josefina actually going for it?
Disdain and contempt filled Lenaâs eyes, though she maintained her cheerful facade. âMy pleasure.â
Josefinaâs lips curled into a sweet smile. âI just got two-million, and now Lena here wants to send me one too. Wow, Iâm gonna be rich.â
Lena, who was about to send Josefina a measly ten grand, felt speechless.
Oh, how she seethed with regret! Why did she have to run her mouth like that!
She desperately wanted to smack herself. She never actually intended to send Josefina money. She was sure Josefina would be too embarrassed to accept, but who knew Josefina could be so shamelessly thick-skinned!
