Chapter 134 A fleeting glance at the welcome party stole my heart.
I didnât come from a proud family, nor did I possess an exceptional appearance.
All I had were diligence and intelligence.
So, for four years in college, I studied and interned with all my might.
This earned me the opportunity to interview at the Stellaris Group.
Only then did I finally have the chance to stand proudly in front of Antonio and tell him my name.
It took me five years to get by Antonioâs side, but he dashed my hopes in just one night.
I managed a weak smile, trying to keep things grownâup.
Opening the door, I didnât look back.
âCome in.â
Antonioâs eyes brightened, and he followed me inside.
âTwo sugars, no milk.â
I made a cup of coffee and placed it in front of Antonio before sitting on another sofa.
Antonioâs voice was somewhat hoarse.
âYou still remember.â
Chap 131 I smiled but didnât respond.
âSince you came to me, you must have seen the divorce papers, right?
âI donât want half your property. I just want custody of Ivan.â
Antonioâs breathing hitched as he looked up at me, âGrace. Iâm not going for the divorce.â
I nodded noncommittally, having anticipated this response.
âIt doesnât matter. I can wait. Three years of separation should be enough.â
Antonio slammed his cup down, making a heavy thump.
âAre you that eager to get away from me?
âRemember, you were the one who made the first move six years ago!â
My heart throbbed painfully as I looked at him in shock, finally getting what this was all about.
âSo thatâs what youâve been thinking all this time.
âI get it now, why you acted differently that morning after.
âI thought maybe you just didnât treasure what you already had, but this is really what youâve been thinking.â
I felt a little let down, but mostly just relieved.
I lowered my eyes, fiddled with the coffee cup in my hand, and said softly, âHave you ever thought that maybe Iâm the one who got hurt here?â
Antonio stared at me, stunned.
âWhat do you mean?â
I thought back to that night.
Antonio was drunk, and I helped him to the reserved suite.
After getting him cleaned up a bit, I left a glass of water by the bedside. and was getting ready to go.
But he grabbed my hand and pulled me onto the bed.
I fought and screamed that night, but nothing helped.
I had a crush on Antonio for four years, but I never imagined that our beginning would be like this.
After it was over, I spent the whole night convincing myself.
âItâs okay.
âI can accept it.
âAfter all, I like him.â
But unexpectedly, Antonio didnât remember anything.
That was fine, I guessed.
I kept telling myself it wasnât really hurting.
I closed my eyes, and when I opened them, all I felt was calm.
âJust let the past be the past. Can you stop bugging my life, please?â
Antonio opened his mouth, his thoughts all jumbled up.
âWhat are you trying to say?â
âIt doesnât mean anything. I have things to do, so you should go.
Antonio left.
Before leaving, he only said one thing, âI wonât agree to the divorce. When I figure things out, Iâll come back to you.â
I didnât care and started my formal studies in Esnaria.
Without work, I had more time to spend with Ivan.
He slowly forgot the bad times and made a bunch of friends there.
In the meantime, I dated a few guys, but I never wanted to get married. again.
Antonio would drop by Esnaria now and then to see Ivan.
I guessed he was trying to fix things with his son.
I talked to Ivan and didnât say no to Antonioâs visits.
After all, he was Ivanâs dad. It was like taking advantage of his money.
Antonio seemed to have a change of heart.
He continuously sent me money for a while.
When he came to see Ivan, he would look at me with guilt in his eyes.
I ignored him and accepted the money without stopping my dates with others.
He was just a little blip in my life, no longer having any real impact on me.
So, the night always ended.
Dawn came even if the sun was not out.
The end.
