A week later

I smiled from next to Bua ji, Amma and Babu ji as Jiji dressed in a red zardozi embroidered raw silk wedding lehenga with dual dupattas and jewelries and next to her was Jijaji in a cream sherwani red pagdi as the pandit ji chanted the wedding verse. Finally, Jiji will get the love of her life and live happily with him without any problems.

I felt eyes on me. I looked around a little before my eyes met with...Arnav Ji standing with his family across me with the mandap between us. My heart skipped a small beat at his gaze and I looked back at Amma now standing behind Jiji and Jijaji placing Jiji's hand on his, doing the Kanyadaan since Babu ji can't.

Bua ji sniffed softly, "Hai Nandkishore, our Payaliya is finally getting married." She dabbed her eyes with a small white handkerchief with a small flower and vines embroidery at one corner that she herself did. "Finally, she'll be happy."

I wrapped an arm around Bua ji's shoulders in a side hug. "Don't cry, Bua ji. Or Jiji will also get emotional."

Bua ji sniffed and nodded with a small smile. "Now it's your turn. We will find someone to match your sanak and wed you off too and you and Payaliya, both will live happily ever after."

I smiled at her words but I really didn't entertain the thought. Because I didn't felt this anymore that I want to marry someone and live happily. If there is one thing I learned from Jiji's experience in marriage is that you don't know. You just don't know what will happen. And you have to depend your entire life in believe of someone will take care of you. And i don't think, Devi Maiya, I would choose that over the happiness of living with my family.
