CH. 8 She's right
(Jamison POV)
I was out of her office, I didn't know why I let what she said have such an effect on me but it did.
I wanted to give her a smirk when she referred to me being extra special.
I was going to drag the compliment, but I choose not too. It wasn't the right time to do that, just because it wasn't the right time now didn't mean I wouldn't bring it up later on. That's just the type of person I am. I simply never forget anything, no matter how small or big it was. I'll put it aside or push it deep at the end of my mind but I never forget.
What she said obviously confirmed what I was thinking, that she really had done some deep looking into me. That somehow she manages to find some information about my past.
Truthfully, I wanted to ask Mona, but it's too late and truth be told. I was getting a little tired.
I walked towards the room I was going to be sleeping in, glad I remembered Mona's directions.
Going into the room, closing the door behind me and quickly making my way towards the bed. I threw myself on it, letting the feeling of a long day settle in. It's amazing how much comfort you can find from a bed after a long day.
It wasn't a normal day at all, I mean I was in jail, which happens to start as a pretty normal day for me but this time it had a twist at the end. Ready to knock out the people who had set me up, then I got released from jail because a random Woman paid my bond and then she tells me she needs me, that'll she'll pay me a lot of money and reveals later on that she see's dead people, that I see dead people and there's a serial killer on the loose.
Yeah, not your typical normal day at all.
The fact that I still don't even know who set me up doesn't even make me that angry as it did from the beginning, I mean if I wasn't in jail I would have never met her.
Met her?
I pushed that thought away from my mind, for now. There were important things to think about.
This freaking lunatic, the fact that he didn't care that they found his spot and is still going on with his killings, means he doesn't think he's going to get caught. Which means that he has tried his best to make sure he doesn't get caught. It's a thrill for him, he highly enjoys this and doesn't plan on stopping anytime soon and the only way he'll stop is if he's locked up.
He's cocky, he's done this for many years I assume, especially from the amount of body that was found in his graveyard.
I stared at the ceiling, it was people like that who deserved to be in prison, hell, getting the death sentence and tortured themselves.
It was also those type of people who seem like normal people themselves, yes there are people out there who actually fit the serial killer profile, but there are also people who seem normal, do everything normal and yet they're the ones who are serial killers.
It's like having that one neighbor, who you didn't know was the wanted serial killer on the FBI most wanted list until you see agents knocking down their home and arresting them.
"Does she honestly think we can catch him?" I said out loud, but more to myself. This guy is sneaky, I know we had to get more information. To figure out how he targets his victims, we had an upper hand against the law officers and the killer himself.
We can communicate with the dead, they can communicate back with us.
With their help, we can get answers. We can find out who? where? why? How? and When will it take place again.
We knew nothing about the man, we will know soon as soon as we ask her questions that are going to drag her memories from what happened the day she died, will also know from the previous Ghost.
"Ghost," I said out loud, never thinking that those words would come out of my mouth again...
I use to see them all the time when I was a little kid. Coming in and out of my closet.
Hiding under the blanket, waiting for my mother to come back from her "Job" at 10:35 pm at night.
Of course, I wasn't raised by a loving family, in a loving household or by loving people.
Some of the ghosts were scary, some of them were actually quite nice.
To be quite honest, I thought I made them all up.
a young white boy who is always alone at home and having a mother as a crack head prostitute sometimes gets extra lonely.
So, of course, I always believed, maybe it was a figure of my imagination especially when my mother couldn't seem them herself.
Calling me a troublemaker and I need to stop scaring people away.
Her people.
Yeah, I was definitely not raised up by a loving person.
Definitely not by loving people.
My mother was a prostitute who sometimes brought her clients home.
I've heard about bringing your work home but I didn't know that everyone did it.
I didn't know that my mother would ever bring her work home or when she would. I would somehow hear it from my room or sneak out without being caught by the work or my mother just to get food.
I knew, that those men she made me call Uncle. damn well were not related to my mother.
I stayed far away from the ones who especially give me a look of to much interest.
Always making sure that my room was lock and that my big chair was under my doorknob.
I developed a special imaginary friend.
I met him one night, where he approached me when I was hiding in the closet.
As weird as it sound, ghost literally came in and out of my closet but yet when I hid there. I felt safe while surrounded by ghost than being around the woman who gave birth to me herself.
At first, I was afraid as I felt a sudden presence next to me, scared to even look up.
It's what he said that had me actually facing him.
"Don't worry, no one is going to hurt you. I'm here."
My eyes widen as I looked and saw a tall man, standing next to my small self.
He became my best friend that day, as we continued to talk, laugh and enjoy each other company.
Even though no one else could see him but me, it was at the age of thirteen that I had to tell him to stop seeing me.
to protect myself and him.
One of mom's special clients started to have an interest in me, my friend Darian didn't like that.
It was the first time I have ever seen him make himself known to someone else.
He almost killed my mom special friend.
I stopped my thoughts.
"He made himself known....... he wasn't a figure of my imagination....." I said sitting up.
My thoughts went back to Mona being with Rosemary all these years.
Was that what Darian was for me?
I remember the day I told him to stop showing himself to me.
"Everyone thinks it's weird that I have an imaginary friend so I have to let you go, I'm growing up," I told him when I was thirteen years old.
Knowing it was to protect me and him.
"Alright, I won't show myself to you. I won't be too far from you either. Whenever you need me, call out my name and I'll be there but this time I won't leave your side again." He said and I nodded my head giving him one last hug.
The room fell quiet.
"He was a ghost..... He was real." I said letting everything hit me at once.
I would have never given it another thought until today.
Until everything that happened today, I always thought that everything I saw, that Darian an imaginary person who looked like they were in their twenties was a figure of imagination.
I thought I made him up because I was lonely with no friend and no one to talk too.
I stared at the darkness in front of me and choose the next words wisely.
"Darian, you can come now," I said
Nothing, I heard nothing and saw nothing.
I shook my head not knowing if it was my imagination or not until I felt a familiar presence as I quickly looked up to find the same guy from when I was a kid facing me, still the same image, still looking like he was the same age in his twenties.
My mouth dropped opened as I stared at him, as I sat and realized that I've actually seen and spoke to ghost before this day.
"Jamison, you've finally called for me." He said staring at me.
I couldn't believe it. He's real, he's a ghost and he knows me.
From when I was a kid.
"I..... I don't know what to say." I said and could you blame me? imagine thinking it was an imaginary friend only to find out it wasn't but an actual ghost.
He chuckled.
"Really? because the Jamison I remembered always had a lot of things to say to me." He said smirking.
"Why do you look the same?" I asked him.
His smirked widen into a smile.
"I died at this age, so I guess I'm stuck looking like this and I'm fine with that." He said.
I nodded my head slowly.
"You seem to have gotten yourself into a lot of troubles over the years." He said to me in a stern look and I actually felt like I was in trouble and that I disappointed him somehow.
"I'm sorry, I've been stupid," I said.
"You've grown up nice." He said and I looked at him, staring at his features noticing many features I had in common with him but not pointing it out.
"So where have you've been?" I asked him as he made his way towards me and sitting on the bed.
I wasn't scared of him, the feelings I got around him was nothing scarier but a familiar feeling.
"Well you gave me the boot so I booted out, but I kept my distance. It's not like I totally abandoned you. I did get tired of seeing you being stupid and getting into trouble though. You have no idea how many times I had to stop myself from smacking you." He said.
"I'm sorry I booted you out, I just didn't want to have a tough time growing up. I mean I already did but it would have added the icing to the cake with the imaginary friend, well now knowing you're a Ghost and all. Would have not only added icing to the cake but also sprinkles." I said
He let out a laugh that brought memories.
The question that I knew was going to come out of my mouth sooner or later came.
"So you're my Dad huh?" I asked him.
Silent fell over us until a simple whisper of an answer came out.
"Yes. Yes, I am."
